I’m not going to say this a five star motel by any means, because I don’t want to give a false impression. But if you’re looking to stay in a clean, affordable, nice motel with a feeling of a younger America, as in the fifties and sixties, then this is your sweet spot. The manager and her young granddaughter ran the front office seamlessly. We had plenty of room, with clean, comfortable king sized beds, and a back porch with comfy chairs overlooking a beautiful stream. Picnic tables were available next to the stream and large shade trees added to the beauty. A wonderful Smokey Mountain retreat nestled on a Reservation — what better way to spend some vacation days!!! I look forward to my next stay. Sincerely, Jeanie M. from Texas. p. s. I forgot my insulated cup, two plums, and two dark chocolate candy bars in the fridge, hope Molly or someone can enjoy them!

The Pink Motel in Cherokee gives off a nostalgic vibe. It’s been around since the early ‘60s at least. The rooms have a back door that opens up to a garden seating area along the river. There’s also a walkway to the water if you want to take a dip. The sparkling pink and black tile in the bathroom surround a sunken tub. The beds were very comfortable and were sporting clean and crisp linens. My only complaint would be the lack of electrical outlets especially in the bathroom. There was only one plug in and that was on the light bar that I couldn’t reach. Hence, I dried my hair near the front door without a mirror. I looked like Little Orphan Annie when I finished… lol Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. I hope to return some day in the not too distant future as well as having better luck at the casino… ugh!

With a name like Pink Motel and that classic sign from probably the 50’s you just have to stop and take a second look, right? I stayed in the Pink Motel sometime in the ‘70s as a kid, and once again in the late 80’s or early 90’s with my wife, and in 2012 we happened to pass through Cherokee again and stayed there with the kids. It’s definitely a classic — a quaint, retro right next to the river just a stone’s throw away in the backyard. Sit in a rocking chair on the back porch and enjoy the stream, let the flowing water put you to sleep at night, and get up and walk right out your back door and go fishing for trout in the morning! Super friendly staff, I would liked to have given 4 or 5 stars but the place is getting a bit dated and worn and needs some TLC. Hopefully the owners put some time and effort into her and keep this classic around for decades to come.
