This review is mostly based on my experience picking up something I ordered online and had delivered to the store. I’ve ordered from JCPenney online once before and had the item sent to a different store, at that store there was a sign at a desk indicating online orders should be picked up there. This location did not have a sign like that, so I decided to wait in line at Customer Service with the assumption that they would be able to grab my shipment. There were only two people in line at Customer Service, and two attendants were helping them. I don’t know what it is about these big box mall retailers, but somehow checkout, no matter how many items you’re buying, always seems to take forever. So, after standing in line at Customer Service for about 10 minutes, I was told that to pickup an online order I would have to go to a different desk that I’ll recognize because it has a TV behind it. So, I head in the direction I was pointed and I come to learn that the desk I was supposed to go to is the Wedding Registry, but there isn’t any sign indicating that online orders should be picked up there. It took another 20 minutes of waiting in line, but eventually I got my box. I shouldn’t have to spend over 40 minutes of wandering around and waiting in lines to find out where I should go to get an online order. Next time I’ll just pay the shipping cost and have the package sent to my office. Also, it sounds like JCPenney needs to upgrade their computer system badly. The lines at this chain always move really slowly and I’ve heard multiple employees blame their computers for being slow or not working. I haven’t had any problems with the employees themselves, so I’m inclined to believe them.

It seems that with the renovation came better climate control as it is not unbearably hot. I find this location to be well maintained by employees and checking out is a breeze. There is always a rep on the floor to assist with questions and it is nice to see the same people working here. Overall it is easy to find what you are looking for and if you are having trouble there is always a friendly face to help.

Just wanted to let your company know that I am NOT a happy customer and will no longer be a customer after what I just had to deal with!!! I ordered drapes from the store to be shipped to me because they didn’t have the size that I needed. After waiting 10 days and still not having my order I was told by your customer service that the package wasn’t able to be delivered because I had them shipped to my work and the sales associate that placed my order told me that I didn’t need my company name on their, just my name would be fine. The first customer service rep I spoke to said that it was sent back to you guys and then I spoke to a supervisor who told me no it is still at the post office you can pick it up tomorrow so today I drove 40 mins out of my way to the post office to pick it up to only find out that your supervisor had NOIDEAWHATSHEWASTALKINGABOUT. I called back to today only to be hung up on, transferred to the wrong person, and then told there was NOTHING you guys could do!!! Maybe you should learn what customer service is and not let the customer suffer for your employee mess ups!!!

I can only speak for the curtains department. My husband and I waited there for over 20 minutes. One staff member was there helping one customer during this entire time. I went to the bathroom and perused bedding. When I came back, I found my husband sitting in the curtains department still waiting. The staff member had not acknowledged him; did not let him know if she would be done soon or not; did not try to find someone else to help him; did not speak to him at all. We had already picked out our curtain choices and were ready to buy. Given her complete lack of service skills we left.

Penneys is a good department store with reasonably priced clothing and housewares. They carry brands like Joe Fresh that has great basics. The home section is good. There’s furniture, bedding and housewares. Check the clearance racks in housewares for good buys.

I do like JCPenney’s remodel. I like that they’ve brought the SALES and COUPONS back. What I do not like is that I couldn’t find the Women’s Plus Size Department. It is hidden through the entrance that used to be the furniture gallery, and it’s drab and has been left with an industrial, warehouse feel as opposed to the modern upgrades of the other departments. The men’s department, the juniors, the misses, home goods: all of these are revamped and attractive. WHYNOTTHEWOMEN’S DEPARTMENT??? 3STARSINSTEADOF5DUETOTHEFORGOTTENWOMEN’S DEPT.

We had a great experience with the portrait studio at this JC Penney. Our photographer Marisa had 13 years of experience and it showed. She got our 6-month old son to stay still and smile for the camera. We got a lot of great pictures and she was not overly pushy on the pricy packages. I found an offer that waived sitting fees on the Internet and ordered a bunch of portraits at $ 3.99 each — a great experience and a great deal!

management is awful. they sit around and gossip. every time i visit it looks the old, wonderful, knowledgeable employees are fewer and fewer. instead, they have loud, obnoxious lazy looking people who don’t know anything. this store is going down the tubes fast. so much for Mr. Penney’s original name for the store, Golden Rule. so much for treating others like you want to be treated.

My experience at the Cherry Hill Mall was not a good one when it came to ordering a dress in my size and not receiving a call when it came in. I tried called several times to check the status of the dress and couldn’t get through to any one in the misses dress department or customer service they would not answer with many many calls. So when i did get through to customer service they said my dress was in so i went over to pick it up and it wasn’t in the young lady who answer that day seen the other dress that i returned. When i went over that night I went through the optical doors and there were 3 woman who were carrying on very loudly who worked there me and very patient woman who was the manger of the optical had a hard time hearing each other and i said those employees are very loud how do you hear your phone conversation with them acting up like that? I came to find out one of the very loud unprofessional employees was the manager. So I normally don’t complain but making a trip over there and paying for the tolls to find out my dress wasn’t there, and to look for eye glasses but was getting annoyed of the manager and 2 other employees talking very loud and laughing like they were out at a bar was so disturbing I told the lady I be back I can’t take them anymore.

You know the story here, so some of the things that are different are that it always seems to be almost unbearably hot on the 2nd floor, enough to drive you out of there sometimes. They’ve been doing some ongoing remodeling, so hopefully they’ll figure this out, but this hot zone thing has been an issue for years there. Now right next to the food court and one end in the mall, which makes it nice since you don’t have to wade through all of the other cars and people in the holiday crowds. Of the chain/anchor stores at the Cherry Hill Mall, I tend to have the most luck here, plus the fact that you can have your mail order stuff sent here is a nice bonus.
