Holy smokes!!! This place is DELICIOUS!!! Holy cow. My husband and I got the sample platter for 2. It was so much food for a good price. Ribs, chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, Mac & cheese. It was all amazing. The smoke flavor was in everything and it was heavenly. The baked beans were my favorite. They had pulled pork in them and also they’re smoked. They smoke in house so as soon as you walk in you enter in front of the kitchen and it is smoky and smells wonderful. Our waitress was kinda slow with the service. It took a few minutes for her to come get our order for drinks. It seemed like no one knew who’s table we were. Then when we were ready for the check she like disappeared for a while. We had to have another waitress bring us our check. Good cold beer. Delicious BBQ. This is definitely going to be a spot from now on. Better than smoky bones.

If you like your BBQ reheated in a microwave and served in Styrofoam cups, then you’ll love Bobby’s BBQ. This is by far the worst BBQ I’ve ever had. It may have been good when it came out of the cooker, but once it is cut, refrigerated and microwaved, what we got was TV dinner quality. I call it «lazy BBQ». Bobby’s BBQ is a bar that serves BBQ. When we arrived for dinner, the best thing about Bobby’s is the lobby. It sure looked like a great BBQ place, but things went down hill pretty quick once we walked in to the seating area and heard all the drunks talking loud at the bar. When we asked if the the«sides» were homemade, the waitress said they were all made there. It was obvious from the first bite that the mashed potatoes were Instant. Obviously, homemade means pouring a box of instant mashed potatoes into a mixer, spooning them into styrofoam cups and refrigerating, then microwaving them in the same cups and serving them. Any«side» that had to be deep-fried, was deep fried to hell and back, which turned everything to a dark brown color and super greasy. This included our onion rings and hush puppies. The Mac-n-Cheese may be homemade, but it lost all it’s quality once its smashed into a Styrofoam cup and microwaved. Based on the non-homemade quality we had experienced up to this point, I can only conclude the Mac-n-cheese was«homemade» by Sysco industries or Stouffers. The BBQ was no better. The BBQ chicken was dry and obviously reheated in a microwave. The brisket came in a Styrofoam cup, sliced thin and uniformly brown in color. Freshly cooked brisket should have a medium rare center, this brisket did not. My entire party came away from Bobby’s disappointed and hungry, since no one could finish their meals. If you want good BBQ, then take a trip to Newport News and eat at Smoke( ) .

Despise the reviews my husband and I decided to give it a try since we were near and hungry for some nice bbq meals. as soon as we walked in they sat us down, so I figured that’d be a good sign. well we waited for about 20 mins to be seen by someone, my husband had to get up and ask for a waiter. They didn’t even know who our waiter was! I quickly remembered a review stating that(they also waited for a very long time for a waiter and they’re food to come out). so that being said the wait was a while but the lady in the bar was really nice and took care of us after all this trouble she continued to check up on us and I thought that was really nice. besides the negative there is a positive we loved our meal the food was delicious! I loved the food.

We stopped in today and I think it’s probably my first visit here since last spring or summer. Today all of us decided to try out the buffet and what a deal that was. All you can eat for $ 8.99 and basically almost everything on the menu is on the buffet. We walked up and I loaded by plate. I started with a fried chicken breast, two hush puppies and then added a scoop of chicken & dumplings, a slice of meatloaf, a scoop of mac & cheese, a scoop of mashed potatoes and finally a scoop of green beans. The meal was delicious and I have to point out that the green beans absolutely disintegrated as you ate them. Frick’n perfect. I went back up for dessert and tried out the bread pudding. Outstanding, simply outstanding. Now… well, I have about 5 hours to go before my work day ends and have to figure out a way to stay awake… getting sleepy… So so sleepy… :)

I used to enjoy it more not sure what happened since last year. The food was decent, price is about average and the staff is fast. They have a lunch buffet at lunch. The small amount of sauces is kinda sad wish they made more but still its decent

I went here to try it out and I loved the food that I had especially the cornbread. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and the smoke flavoring was awesome. I took home the leftovers which were even better the next day. I will definitely be going back to this place again.

The ribs didn’t hold together it was far past«fall off the bone tender» and there were lots of granules of brown sugar that didn’t dissolve. The vinegar sauce wasn’t too bad helped cut the sweetness. Fries were fine. The baked beans had a bunch of pulled pork in it, I just couldn’t eat it. Hush puppies were ok. The side salad I ordered was fine except the tomatoes and cucumber were frozen a bit. For 12.99 for a half rack and 2 sides you get a bunch of food. The waitress was really nice. I honestly think famous Dave’s is better. For the price you can give it a try and see for yourself.

I requested that they make my favorite sandwich based on their Bobby burger. It’s a pimento cheese BLT on Texas toast. The sandwich was excellent. I also ordered the sweet potato fries which were crispy and dusted with cinammon. I wish that I’d ordered a side of honey for dipping but other than that I was very pleased. I was extremely happy with the service. Our waitress was great. The service was prompt but the restaurant was not crowded when we arrived.

We left this place completely in awe of their food. We loved it! Wife had the Pulled Pork platter and I had the Half Rack of Spare Ribs. Both plates were flavorful and did not need any additional seasonings. You got to try the green beans as a side. Everything is made on the premises, heard the apple sauce is the only canned item they have. The service was very friendly and quick to take care of any requests. I wish we could comment on their sauces but we never got to try them as they were not needed. Definitely a well kept secret that I will share with out of town visitors.

The second time I visited this place. The first time was shortly after they first opened and that experience was awful so needless to say, I was not in a rush to give it a second try. Well, we were out running errands and it was well past dinner time and my husband suggested we give this place a second try. Boy, am I glad we did. We shared an appetizer sampler and the only disappointment there was the chicken wings. The skin wasn’t crispy but flabby so those were wasted and thrown away. :( We also shared the fried catfish dinner and ordered collard greens and mac & cheese. The collards were delicious… my collards were always considered delicious by my family… but boy do I wish I could get mine to taste this good! My husband really enjoyed the mac & cheese, while I thought the taste was good… I thought the pasta was way over cooked(mushy). So, not to my liking. We took our food to go and the person who took our order was great, friendly & helpful when we asked questions. The negative image that I had is now gone. Although I don’t like the smell of smoke and since the smokers are right there… you will smell it. But hey, some people like that smell.

Food: My fiancé and I got the Corn Bread skillet and the Entrée Sampler, which is supposed to be a meal for 2 but it’s more like a meal for 4. –Ribs: Yum — Brisket: Came out cold, with a lot of pepper — Pulled Pork: Yum — Chicken: Was okay, but was a little too sweet for us — Hushpuppies: Yum — Man&Cheese: Yum — Sweet Potato fries: Had a cinnamon taste — Corn bread: SOYUM Service: The food took a while to come out, but the waitress was polite and attentive Price: With tip we paid $ 47, which is pretty good since we had so many leftover

As far as BBQ goes in Hampton Roads, this is the best you will find. Nice flavorful meat. Great smell of smoke in the parking lot. We always get good service. Some of the side dishes are a little nondescript, but if you want to satisfy a BBQ craving this is the place to go.

My adventure of finding barbeque joint continues here. As a matter of fact, this place was in my bookmark list, knowing Bobby Bar-B-Q in a previous event in Town Point made me even more excited. I know its took me ages to finally decide. Time was always a concern plus the distance to drive. From where I live to the restaurant is approximately half hour drive so I needed to make reservation for myself. Don’t get me wrong, distance wasn’t the issue it just that I needed to convince myself if its worth it and in my mind I’ve nothing to lose but to give it a try. Today for some reason I was craving for barbeque and this was the first restaurant I had in mind. It is my first time to dine in here and to tell you honestly; I was extremely excited to try this place. I was impressed with the food truck displayed close to the main restaurant. The exterior part of the restaurant looks stunning, I like the idea of the outdoor seating. As I was coming out of the car few steps away from the main door I can smell the strong aroma of the barbeque which I thought a good sign and even more anxious. Upon entering the premises, I was greeted with a sumptous smoky spice barbecue. I invited a friend to join me with my quest. Lucky me he was also into barbeque. It wasn’t that busy so we directed seated and served. I’m loving the country and cowboy setting. Thought the rustic interior was interesting and original. I don’t want them to compare them with other brands it reminds me of Cracker Barrel. The dining set up is partially divided in different set up depending on number of guest where big groups and families may dine in at the same time. Let’s talk about the barbeque which was the main highlight of my visit. To start with I ordered the signature Bobby Navy Bean soup and a friend had the«twigs«basically a version of lumpia filled with pulled pork. I have to say the soup was very disappointing, it was salty although the beans alone was perfectly cooked however the twigs or deep fry lumpia were simply delicious. It was seasoned well and lots of flavor. For the main course, a friend and I decided to share the ENTRÉESAMPLER consisting of brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and smoked chicken served with three sides. As for the sides, we ordered the hush puppies, cucumber salad and mac & cheese. The meat was cooked to perfection, it was tender, juicy, and pulled off to the bones. I personally like the sweet and sour tang of ribs. The smoke chicken was very delectable but it had a bitterness. My favourite one was the pulled pork, I thought it was incredibly tasty and moist. On the other hand, I can’t say much with the side dishes but unfulfilling, what a waste. Overall, I thought the flavor profile was pretty strong but poorly executed. I feel like they were trying so hard to make it really something. However, I believe that there is always room for improvement. I would strongly suggest that the management should look into details because small things can ruined the entire experience. Truly, what an interesting visit. I must commend the terrific customer service. Patty did a wonderful job. She was very attentive and hospitable. I admire her work ethic because despite of busy scenario she always smile and ensure that you get everything needed. I’m not sure if I’m willing to give a try but I am not closing my door.

Bottom line: This place tries very hard, puts out some above average BBQ, and the customer service is terrific. Besides they have a military discount. I’ve had this spot bookmarked and tonight was the night to give them a try. When we walked in we were greeted with the sweet smell of smoke, spices, and cooking meat. A great sign right? We were immediately seated and our server came right over to talk to us. We settled on an appetizer of «twigs». That’s pulled pork in a spring roll wrapper deep fried. They also have«logs» which are the same as twigs just bigger. Twigs are the right size. My friend had the Navy Bean soup. That was one of the only downsides to the meal. The soup was very salty. Our server was nice enough to remove the soup from the bill. For our main we had the sampler. It had all the meats available and is advertised as serving 2. It could probably serve 3. There was brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, 4 ribs, hush puppies, and 2 sides. We had the mac&cheese and cucumber salad. Overall the BBQ was pretty good. Not the best I’ve had but well above the average. My only comment on the BBQ was that there was a touch too much sweetness and one the chicken there was a slight bitterness. The cucumber salad was very nice but the Mac & cheese was a little over cooked. The ambience of the place was very casual and welcoming. The décor was rustic, thing toned down Cracker Barrel. The customer service was superb. I’d come back again but if probably avoid the appetizer so I had room for the main or maybe desert. Definitely a place to try.

This one was a tough experience to rate. The reason being there were three of us and we disagreed a bit on how we felt about the brisket. I will say the beans and coleslaw were very good. We ordered a «potluck» of food because we all wanted to taste different items and we were sharing all of it. The logs were amazing and so were the fried pickles plus the sweet cornbread. There was no disagreement on any of that food. Where we disagreed was on the meat dishes. To begin with the seasoning on the ribs was excellent. However, I always feel the sign of perfect ribs is when they’re cooked just right that the meat is so tender it almost falls off the bone. That wasn’t the case here. There was no way that rib meat would ever come off the bone without cutting the meat off or gnawing it off. They were good but definitely undercooked. I love brisket and I guess I shouldn’t be expecting to have good Texas Brisket in Virginia but it’s hard not to compare with other places we’ve had it. This brisket was thinly sliced and I thought it was missing any flavor. However, others thought it was good. I wouldn’t order it again but I did like their BBQ sauce. Service was good.

Ever since moving to the area a little over a year ago, my husband and I have been on a constant search for good bbq. We saw this place and decided to give it a shot. I ordered the pulled pork platter with sweet potato fries and fried okra. The pork was mushy, the fried okra was frozen from a bag, the fries were just ok. The platter came with hush puppies which were good though. My husband ordered the brisket platter with cucumber salad and fried okra. He said his brisket tasted like it was baked. Our search for good bbq continues…

Driving on Battlefield running errands, I figured I would stop here with a buddy. I’ll start with the ambience. The place has a very country like feeling to it. It was comfortable and good for a sit down meal. The service was fantastic. The waitress serving us did a great job, and offered her recommendations when asked. I do enjoy when a server doesn’t just settle with your question but will not be afraid to suggest something else. Now, the food. The food is where the three star rating comes from. My buddy had the pork platter and I had the pulled pork sandwich. He wasn’t too impressed with the sides and the pork. He did think the baked beans tasted like Bush’s and just slightly altered. I am not a baked beans person, but would have to agree. The mashed potatoes weren’t great either. The pulled pork was good, but it wasn’t amazing. Flavor was missing, but it wasn’t overcooked which was great! My pulled pork sandwich was the same for the pork. The bread was not great either. I had it with the coleslaw and coleslaw went well. I had the potato salad that needed some work. We were looking at the board and the specials for happy hour are tempting. Due to this, I do plan on giving it a second go. I will try something else to give variety a chance

I went here when it was Woodchicks once and it was not good, so now it’s Bobby BBQ I said I will give this place a try. With so many mix reviews, I didn’t know if I should walk in or just turn around. Entering in you can smell the smoke and BBQ… that was good. But you will smell like smoke all day bc it’s going to be in your clothes and hair. SMH… Order the sampler platter(ribs, leg quarter, beef brisket, pull pork, 2 sides and hush puppies) for $ 30, it took 20 minutes to get our food & the food was cold… That wasn’t good. Platter was good enough for 4 people to share! The Mac n cheese we ordered was a bit too salty, the baked beans was cooked with meat giving it a lot of flavor but was too sweet for me. The meats in the platter was flavorful with plenty of smoke, you definitely not going to miss that in the food! That was good. I liked the BBQ sauce and the Bobby sauce… if you mix it together, it makes a great concoction. But after we left I realize she forgot to give us one of our sides! This place was a lot better experience than WoodChicks but service wasn’t that great, food was little cold and now I remember we didn’t get one of our sides, so I don’t know if I will be back.
