There is no better butcher shop in Hampton Roads. Reasonable prices. If you’re a meat lover, plan some extra time to browse the meat cases. Amazing selection:
Pre-​cut 3-​pound cowboy steaks, baby backs, chops, bacon – all the family faves.
They even have dog bones. .. BIG dinosaur-​looking bones that will keep your 120lb Rottweiler satisfied for a month. Seriously.
Separated chill boxes for seafood, a «clearance» BOGO and a special one for fresh-​ground dog food.
Deli-​meats and cheeses available as well.
Calling all carnivores: Dinner is served!

I have had a hard time since moving to the Hampton Roads Area finding a good Butcher Shop and I think that I have found my place in Central Meats. I was able to get just what I wanted and at a good price my last visit. Was looking for oxtails to make oxtail stew and Central Meats had the best price. Although they were frozen it was still a good quality buy after all.
They also have many package deals so check out there website. I think I will be putting in a order later on this year to get ready for the summer.
I would also like to say that if you don’t see what you are looking for, please ask. The staff was very helpful and friendly too. I overheard a few conversations the staff had with other customers and I was very pleased.

Our meat stock up place, get on their email list for those specials. We filled our deep freezer with a 60 lbs chicken deal and a Trifecta special (at different times of course). Very fresh, good meats. A value for families in this area. Package deals must be called in ahead of time, call as soon as you can. Clean shop, smells like a butcher shop should.

I miss living 4 minutes from this place. Almost any kind of meat you want is here. They have a huge selection of meats and cuts. They have a nice selection of rubs and sauces to go with it. They do take special orders as well. They have various specials of the week to go with competitive pricing. This is a must visit place for your butcher needs.

I have been dealing with Central for over 10 years. The service has always been great. The prices are competitive and the staff is friendly. If you need something out of the ordinary, give them a call and they will get it. The food is always fresh and tasty. This is a good place to do business.

I stopped in with a friend to buy some beef bones for bone broth we were making. Central Meats pretty much carries whatever type of meat you are looking for, when we were leaving a man was rolling a whole pig out to his truck! They also have a large selection of marinades and sauces available.
I ended up purchasing a pound of their thick-​cut bacon. Since I usually buy turkey bacon and my husband complains so I figured I’d buy him some real bacon :) I haven’t tried it yet but I’m sure that it won’t disappoint.
If you tell the butcher that it’s your first, you get a free pound of sausage with your first purchase. I chose the hot sausage and it was so good!

My family has been going to Central Meats for the past four years. Our dogs are also on the raw diet. It’s the best way to feed a big family on a small budget.
Their facility is clean, the staff is helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this shop. Buy local!

This place befuddles me. I wanted them to be my go to place for meat as it is pretty close to where I live, but the only thing I have ever bought from here like wowed me was sausage.
It my just be my family’s taste bud though as the parking lot is always packed. So I say it is worth a try for sure.

Great service, great price.
I went for the boudin and was disappointed.
Being from LA, you don’t come by it often. Especially in VA.
The «boudin» they sell is not boudin.
I applaude the effort, but their product taste like Italian sausage with a little rice and green onion. Virginians wouldn’t know the difference, so I guess it doesn’t matter
Fix the recipe and improve the steak selection and I would give this place 5 stars.
Other than the two issues I had, this place is great

I went to Central Meats this past Saturday and asked the butcher if he could do a pound of ground chicken breast. The man looked at me as though I had three heads, then proceed to massage his temples as though I had just given him the world’s most massive migrane. He asked when I needed it, and I told him I was planning to use it for dinner that evening. He then said that ground chicken was usually by order only, and if I would go place an order with one of the cashiers, I could have my chicken on MONDAY.
At that point, I promptly walked out and went to Harris Teeter, which had exactly what I needed without the attitude or a two day wait. So much for trying to support local businesses. I’ll drive further to go to the excellent butcher shop at the Virginia Beach Farmer’s Market.
