Enchanted Forest definitely gets my vote for great service. We have a fire pit in our future and Matt could not have been more helpful. He certainly was knowledgeable and made recommendations that actually saved us money. Other places might have just wanted to load us up with materials — he didn’t.

My husband and I with some help from some friends revamped our front lawn this summer in DIY fashion. This nursey had really good prices plus a military discount so that we could do the revamp in a way that was affordable for us. They also have really helpful, courteous staff that were knowledgeable and they made sure that if we needed any crush and run or sand or anything for our projects that they would make sure it got to her house in a timely manner and worked with our schedule. We are taking a break from the project for a bit but when we start back up we will definitely be returning here, especially when we tackle putting in rock borders in the yard.

I’ve purchased many plants and trees from Enchanted Forest before. Most of the times, the service is great. Yesterday I swung by with a leaf(in a zip lock bag) I had plucked from my lemon tree(which I bought from them 2 years ago) to see if they could tell me what bug/eggs this was and how to exterminate this vile creature and I was ignored. I’m not an impatient person by any means but it’s pretty obvious when someone is trying to avoid eye contact with you. I left and went to Southern States Farm Supply off of Military Highway and they helped me out immediately. Enchanted Forest is still a great nursery… it’s just hit or miss with customer service.

This was the only nursery in Hampton Roads that seemed like they carry cacti and succulents from searching online. They do. Not a large selection, and the succulents look mostly healthy, but the cacti not so much. I did purchase a money tree(has similar water and sun requirements to succulents, which I didn’t know) and a sedum(?) succulent in a rock planter. They look fantastic! The staff was friendly, and very willing to lookup information online about caring for the tree and succulents, since they are exotic plants for most people I’ve met here. I returned today and found some inexpensive terra cotta pots for my succulents(a must for drainage), and an beautiful Norfolk Island Pine indoor tree. Even better service than my first visit!

Mmmmmmmmm… rocks. Wow. I can’t believe no one has reviewed Enchanted Forest. It’s one of my favorites. Actually I can. I’ve been telling people about it since I discovered in on accident a few years ago, but it still seems to be a well kept secret to a lot of people. The«Stone» part of their name is one of the things that makes this nursery and gardening place stand out. Let me just admit right here that I have a bit of a fetish for rocks. I’ve been fantasizing forever about turning my front yard into a bed of rocks(like the yards you sometimes see in Arizona or New Mexico). And it was so damn dry this year I probably should have. Plus it would probably annoy the home owners association, which would be a bonus. Anyway, Enchanted Forest has a huge selection of rocks and stones. There are mini boulders and pallets of slate and giant bins of river rock that you can back a truck up to and shovel in if you want. Then they have all of these cages filled different types and sizes of smaller rocks – grey, white, blue-ish, pink-ish and many of them in tumbled smooth. Then they have your basic indoor and outdoor plants and gardening must-haves, and some décor and gifts. If you live in VB, you can get there by going straight down Kempsville Road and it’s not far after you cross the Chesapeake line on the left.
