please take Note, any self installations is $ 30, in my case TV/Internet which was $ 60 which They don’t tell you about when setting everything up! they also throw in Bogus additional fees to your bill which is unacceptable!!! will be terminating my services earlier than expected!!! Beware!!!

This is a complaint of the Cox solutions store in Chesapeake. I went to the store to exchange my old component DVR for an HDMIDVR. I got the new box and brought it home. Unfortunately the firmware on that box was bad. It only took a technical support representative yelling at me about which source I had my TV on to figure out the problem. Not everyone is an idiot when it comes to A/V issues. I know what source my cable box is plugged into. Give your customers some credit. So I take this box back to the Cox solutions store in Chesapeake and ask for replacement. No problem they replace it. I bring it back to my house and plug it back in. I have no signal this time. I call Cox technical support and have them reset the box. Still no signal. I plug it in using the old component cables and I get a signal. Then I try a new HDMI cable, still no signal. Then I tried HDMI cable on a different input(TV) still no signal. The determination has been that the HDMI port on the new box is bad. All I’m asking that this cox solutions store function checks their equipment before it goes out to the customers. Two boxes were sent out of that store that were not functioning. That is unacceptable. If you go to the store ask them to function check your equipment in front of you to ensure that all ports and functions work properly. I will keep this piece of gear for a week and bring it back next Saturday to get another box and I will have them check it in front of me, however I’m not driving back to the store 30 minutes away again(3rd time) on this beautiful Saturday. On the bright side the store was not as crowded as any other cox solution store I’ve ever been to. I was able to walk into the store– do what I needed to do and walk out without a wait. This is where the two stars are coming from.

Friendly staff and it’s a convenient location. Service is a lot quicker than the Norfolk Military Circle location.

Before you read, here is a quick note on COX: I am not a fan of their services. The on demand is run off of the same computer that Matthew Broderick used in Wargames«The WOPR» and the MSDOS text that is on the menu screams of Siberian technology at its oldest. Seriously, just buy the menu off of other providers so it will actually look like it is from this decade let alone this century. I am on my last month of service and am going with«another carrier.» I am working on keeping a clear mind while I give you an idea of the store and not the service. Now enough about Cox Services and on to the review of the Solutions Store itself: «The Good» — As you enter you will see a computerized sign in screen and if they are not busy a person will greet you and help you in the«How Tos». — The staff are great, when I went in last month to pay the bills Brad and Bob went out of their way to not only explain some interesting charges but actually listen to what is going on as opposed to just hitting computer keyboards behind a desk. — The staff were friendly and I would like to hope that all staff at all Solutions Stores are equally staffed. What I suspect though is that since the spot is approximately two blocks away from the COX corporate headquarters they may have the best of the best working here. However it washes out, the staff are friendly and sincere. — They have a fully stocked supply of converters and other equipment that are ready to go should you need to replace a broken converter or start service. — They have a Big Screen in the back right of the store in an alcove that has cartoons playing to occupy the munchkins that are brought along on the strip. «The Meh» — There is computer self pay center located in the back right of the store… but it is in a closet. Now, points for innovative space usage, but good luck finding it if you do not know it is already there. «The Bad» — Nothing really bad about the Store to comment on.
