As a 50 plus yr old professional I have entered 3 spas and ask the professionals for their recommendation on a good professional yet easy look. When I encountered Windy today it was my first WOW! She listened to me(rare) and crafted a color and cut that not only my husband and daughter love but that has made me feel great! Not a lot of unnecessary push for product nor a look that requires handsome expenditures every six weeks. I am beyond impressed and will drive from Smithfield to continue receiving perfect service!!!

Mystique does decent work but is pricey. Natural Elements in Greenbrier is a salon that is similar in terms of being upscale but their prices are better(I.e. Military Discount and discount a certain day of the week as well as points which deduct money from your services, for keeping a booked appointment.) When I go to Mystique, I calculate what the cost of service should be based on their price list or a deal that is going on and it is always more.

I have been coming to this salon off and on for about 6 years. I have gone to different salons in the hopes of saving money but ended up coming back to fix my problems. I have had massages, facials with Amy, the owner who is awesome, have hair appointments with a few of the girls. I started out going to Amanda, the top stylist, and loved her work but asked to try Nicole, another master stylist, who didnt have as high as a rate. I always love my hair and feel so welcomed. They even offer alcoholic beverages! This salon is pricey but you walk out feeling great

Just a quick update. My hair hasn’t grown in honestly years and since going to mystique it’s grown probably 2 – 3 inches since February(it’s now late August!). I chose to listen to my stylists advice(Samantha) and use products she recommends and am always happy. Also the girl at the front desk, Ariel, is always extremely friendly and helpful whenever I come in! She has such a positive attitude when helping customers and you can really tell she loves her job. She is such a great addition to the salon and a great first impression of the salon when you first walk in! Love this place

I had my first massage Friday at Mystique by Nicole. It was amazing ! She made me feel very comfortable and relaxed-which is hard-I am always tense. The salon is clean and the Spa area was indeed tranquil. Nicole gave me mobility in my shoulders that I have not had in years and I plan on going back as part of my arthritis therapy. The rating is about Nicole-I’d follow her anywhere she worked.

I adore Mystique! I stumbled upon this salon during wedding preparations after I had a bad experience at another salon in Chesapeake. Long story short they fixed my hair and ended up doing my hair and my wedding parties’ hair. I have had facials and hair services there. All services I have ever received are top-notch. I’ve been using Mystique for the past couple years. The hair style I currently have I adore. I gets tons of compliments on the color and cut. I also use the hair products and facial products sold there. I will keep using Mystique until I move away or they close their doors. The only part of Mystique that isn’t perfect is the cost. While I strongly feel that every penny is well spent, and I get a lot for the money spent, it is easy to drop hundreds. I should mention I have a bit of an elaborate hair style. I will say that you can set a budget and they will make sure you get as much as possible within that amount and are happy at the end of the service. If you are the type of person who wants to look amazing EVERYTIME and are willing to pay for it, this is the place to go. I really do appreciate the consistency here. The facial services and products are a good value and the esthetician is very well educated. I like that she listens to concerns and will work to address them, even following-up later. In total, this is the best hair salon I’ve visited in my adult life. The only downside is they know what they are worth and are in demand. I schedule my visits on payday :) and well in advance. I strongly recommend this business.

I’m a big fan of Mystique Salon! The stylists are very knowledgeable and are always willing to answer one of my many questions and address any concerns. I’m a bit on the OCD side ;) The décor, color scheme, and the offering of a beverage when you walk in make for a great atmosphere and experience. P. S. I love the makeover to Mystique website. I have written a review on this place before, but at another site. I heard about Unilocal from Clark Howard. This incident happened in October 2010, but I took my daughter to another hairdresser a couple days ago and was told it was going to take about a year until my daughters hair can be totally fixed. A few months ago I took my children to Mystique to get a hair cut. I had been there before so I was familiar with the people and the surroundings and I thought they would take good care of my kids. My son was the first to get his hair cut. He can’t sit still because of previous bad experience, so when the hairdresser missed a couple spots, my husband said don’t worry about it, we will fix it at home.(He said this to the hairdresser) Next was my daughter, who is 9. She sat perfectly still. I walked away towards the end because she wanted to be a «big girl». I went and paid over 60.00 dollars for my kids cut and a small bottle of shampoo. We left shortly after wards. The next day when I was helping my daughter with her hair, I was shocked at how uneven the back was. It was a mess… I called the salon immediately, no more then 18 hours after the actual cut, and told them I could come in early afternoon. I was told that the manager would call me back to discuss a time I can come in that day. I explained that my daughter was having pictures done on Monday and she needed her hair corrected. I waited for a call, no one called.(SIDENOTE-I did not notice the uneven back at the salon because her hair had been styled with products and flipped up at the ends. Had I noticed this at the salon, we would not have left until they fixed it.) Sunday came and went, no call. As I stated, my daughter was getting pictures done on Monday and her hair needed to be evened out. I took pictures of the chop job and evened it out the best I could. I called the salon on Monday and left a message stating I just wanted a refund for my daughters hair. 25.00. It is wasn’t until 3 days later from my initial call, Tuesday morning, that I got a call back from the owner, Amy. Right off the bat, she told me that she had gotten my message on Saturday, but didn’t call. No, «I am sorry for the inconvenience» or «I am sorry for not calling you back…» etc… nothing. Then she told me she wasn’t going to give me a refund. She did offer to cut my daughters hair, but my daughter doesn’t want her hair any shorter and I told her I evened it out. She stated the obvious that I am not a hairdresser. True, but I had no choice in the matter since she had to have pictures done. The response I got about the pictures was that my daughter should have gone to school with the bad cut since she wasn’t going to get the back of her head pictured! What is left of the mess is about an inch to inch and a half difference between the top layer of hair and the bottom. We are just going to have to put her hair up everyday, let it grow out and take it to someone else to get someone else to fix it! I didn’t ask for layers, or anything other then 2 inches off the back. Plain and simple, not complicated. I didn’t want a refund at first, I wanted them to fix my child’s hair, no one returned my call. I am the customer and it would have been a 5 min call for a 2 min fix. It has turned into this because the manager didn’t return my call for 3 days and then she continued to interrupt me and twist my words on the phone. I offered to show her the pictures of the cut, she didn’t want to see them. I said that if the cut was a nice as she kept saying, would I really have called to have it corrected on Saturday. Mind you, I wanted the hair fixed BEFORE I evened it out. Not after. I am a military wife and trust me, when a family moves to the area and/or asks me where to get their hair cut or spa, I will tell them about my experience. This is the worst haircut my daughter has ever gotten. It was a HUGE waste of money. I told the owner that I was going to get the word out about my experience. So, here is my review and picture for those who do not use the other review site.
