Love at first sight! They have all of the candy my grandmother used to sell to the kids in the neighborhood. She was the neighborhood babysitter and candy lady. This place really brought back some fond, childhood memories. Upon entering, I was greeted by Martha… or was it Marva? She offered me a free sample of her banana pudding sauce. She was very friendly and courteous. We had a great conversation about the products they offer. After sampling the banana pudding sauce, I was instantly hooked! Very delicious! Perfect, smooth texture and not too sweet. I asked for a sample to take home for my mom and she agreed. She also convinced me to try the other flavors which I purchased for $ 1.25 per pudding cup. You will find lots of cool stuff here! Check it out for yourself! :)

DANG! it’s like the neighborhood candy lady moved up and selling candy in a store vs at home! Haha!!! Owner is great friendly and makes you feel you’ve known her for years, just like your neighborhood candy lady. Definitely some retro candies and a few games and toys that may be hard to find. It got my hubby reminiscing on the old skool candies with the owner that I had no idea what they were taking about, I guess I was still too young or it just didn’t make it to my candy lady’s house in Cali. They’re speciality is their homemade banana pudding sauce you can sample a taste of but it was waaay too sweet for me. But overall good place to go.

Wasn’t really looking for this place… just drove by on my way to the Jordan bridge. The name intrigued me so I stopped in to see what it was about. The lady behind the counter greeted me with a huge smile as soon as I walked in and offered free samples, she went on to tell me all about the store, their products, the story of how her family created the recipe and even gave me a tour of the kitchen(which was empecabily clean) Shortly afterwards her husband came in and was also very welcoming. I felt like I was part of family from the moment I stepped in. The banana pudding sauce is actually vanilla pudding, which is the base used to make banana pudding u add your own bananas & nilla wafers or butter cookies. U can get creative with the sauce and add it to cake batter, pancake batter etc. I put some in a bowl and just dipped my banana in it for breakfast it was delicious!

We did a google search for candy store and it took us here. In the middle of South Norfolk(which btw, I have issues with, because this is Chesapeake. What gives?) This little part of South Norfolk calls itself historic and it is, aesthetically so anyway. You just have to see it. Rodger’s fits right in. It has a whole cool vintage theme. Sure, they sell banana pudding, which is just okay, to be honest. But they also sell candy. «Vintage candy-store» candy. Old-school toys — pick-up sticks and jacks! Books, board games, Classic bottles sodas, etc. There was so much to see. The cashier was very friendly and I would gladly travel the distance to come back.
