I was craving Mongolian barbecue one night, and to my delight there was one located right across the street from neighborhood so I absolutely had to try it. It is not a huge place, and has booths along the perimeter with the Mongolian barbecue buffet station right in the center. It is a pretty large station and they offer meat that includes chicken, pork, beef, and shrimp. There was a large amount of vegetables and other toppings available, and everything looked fresh and hand-cut, and everything was filled right to the brim of the container so there was enough topping to go around! Once done topping your Mongolian BBQ off with sauce, you hand it over to the chef who cooks it right in the middle of the buffet station. When it’s finished, they call you up and you’re able to taste your wonderfully salty and meaty creation! I was not disappointed with the quality, and it is great for a quick and delicious meal any day of the week. Will be back!

I really like going to this place. What you do is choose the different types of food & toppings what you want and the guy will cook it in front of you. I usually choose noodles, broccoli, chicken, beef, sugar water, lemon water, ginger, garlic water, and Mongolian sauce and you hand the plate to the guy. He will cook it in front of you. It’s like hibachi, but it only takes literally like 2 minutes for your food to be ready! The food turns out great. Very delicious. They even serve you bread too.

My review is a little late,(a week) but better late than never. This place is very good. It’s small, which I think makes it better actually. There is one circular girl in the center, and surrounding it are the fresh vegetables and the raw meats. If you’ve never been to a Mongolian style grill before, you put your veggies in a bowl, followed by the raw meat of your choice. After, you put whatever sauce that you like. Make sure you put a lot because that is what’s gonna make your food taste delicious. And always bring a couple of dollars with you to tip the grill cook. So far this is the best Mongolian BBQ I found in the area. I will be looking for others to visit. So now I’m on a pizza and Mongolian BBQ mission this year. I like the people that work there. They are always so friendly and polite. The restaurant is very clean. They have a small little bar area. What I really like is that they always put fresh meat out when new customers come in, and put it away when no one is waiting in line. That’s awesome because it shows that they care about proper food handling which is very important to me. I recommend everyone to eat here at least once if you are in the Chesapeake area.

Nothing spectacular here, just your typical Mongolian stir fry. I stopped by on Xmas day and was gloriously happy that they were open. My sesame bread was a bit burnt, and wasn’t hot. I thought it was quite odd that they didn’t keep the meats out on the buffet pick-up line… instead they kept them in the back until someone started by the veggies, then small portions of meat were brought out and people could get it then. Not sure if the ice was out on the buffet, they were trying to control how much meat anyone took, or something else. I ordered a wine(white) and it was barely cold. I was a hungry girl on Xmas day, this review could have been completely more scathing, I was just happy they were open and served me two portions of egg drop soup.

I stopped in here for lunch one day about 3:30pm. There was one waitress working and one cook. So I go up to Buffett and begin to pile up my bowl to be cooked. The cook was very cordial. When I sat down the waitress brought over my water and dropped off my soup and bread. From that point it was the last time she visited my table. I watched her sit behind the front counter on her phone and not even bother to bus any plates from my table nor did she even bring me my check. I had to walk up the the desk to even alert her that I was done and wanted my check. As for the food, it was standard Mongolian bbq, nothing outstanding, cookie cutter quality at best. Probably first and last time I will go there as there was nothing outstanding about my initial experience.

I would call this place for Mongolian a hidden gem. Great selections… beef, pork, chicken. And for dinner they will have squid & shrimp… awesome! Neighborhood favorite

If you’re reading this: stop and just go! . but if you have a second, here’s the scoop: «Hidden» behind the 7 – 11 on corner of Kempsville/Volvo. Saturday 4:00pm. Not crowded. Lady sat us down, brought us drinks, rice, bread, soup(«Hot & Sour»). That was the only«table visit.» Then… well, then what? «Do I order something or just get up and start piling on the plate to cook?» The staff of three were all eating supper and watching a movie on an iPad…(Am I interrupting?) It was a very«I don’t know what to do with my hands,» Ricky Bobby moment. So…We just got up, grabbed a bowl and piled on stuff, and the cook made his move to heat up the grill — no big deal.(I think somebody hit PAUSE on the iPad) Food was fresh, delicious, and«too much!» Word of caution if you or your guest eats like a bird, there’s no doggie bags — so don’t over-do it when building your bowl. Hostess/waitress didn’t come by with check either — we just got up and went to the register(?). All-in-all, 2 x water, 2 x soup, 2 x BBQ = $ 24. Moments of awkwardness, but in and out in less than an hour and completely satisfied!

This is my favorite Mongolian restaurant because they have shrimp as well as chicken, beef, and pork. The vegetables are plentiful and varied, the service is terrific, and the price is reasonable. I would most definitely recommend Top’s.

We drove from VA Beach to this place in search of a value. We were pleasantly surprised. The offering was good. Various meat options and all you can eat. The Hershey’s ice cream was a nice touch. We will be back for sure.

My son and I decided to try this Mongolian BBQ spot instead of the one of Military Hwy because this one was a little closer to home. Once we arrived we noticed that we were the only ones in the restaurant. It was also 5:00pm and a bit early for dinner. The meat and vegetable selections were great. No doubt about whether you will be full. I could barely move after just one plate. This is the first time I’ve has Mongolian in this area so I have nothing to compare it to. The prices are reasonable and they have a wine and beer menu as well. It’s worth a try. The waitress was very attentive and the cook was helpful.

I just had lunch at Top Mongolian with my wife and we both enjoyed our experience. I have been a number of times with coworkers and family, but this was our first Top Mongolian experience together. Today, the food was fresh and delicious. We went for lunch around 12:30 and we were the only ones there. I always love how Top Mongolian stores the meats in the back and brings them out only when customers are in line. That is definitely appreciated. The hot-n-sour soup is always on point at Top Mongolian and today was no different. They always give you individual bowls of white rice and I love putting some in my soup. The buffet was super clean and well maintained this afternoon. One observation that I made, was that of the old lady near the cash register. I watched her dig and dig in her nose until she finally got the booger that she was going after. Without washing her hands, she came to our table and asked if we needed more water, I definitely declined. Amazes me what people will do even when there is a possibility of others watching. Regardless, I will probably forget about the nose picking session and I will be back again.

All-you-can-eat Mongolian BBQ. You fill up your plate with all the veggies and proteins you want and then pour on the sauces and they grill it for you on a giant circular grill. The vegetable selections and the sauces are spot on but the proteins leave a little to be desired. The fried tofu squares tasted like freezer burn and the beef was very tough. Also the noodles appeared to be lo mein noodles but tasted like regular spaghetti – it didn’t have the desired chewiness(maybe yellow food coloring?). They also give you all the bread you want. The bread that they bake is fresh shao bing(a Chinese flaky bread). It’s a nice addition especially when they come piping hot out of the oven. For dessert, they have some cakes and jello but also single-serve ice cream containers! I was impressed with the selection of ice cream flavors – including coffee and strawberry in cute single serve sizes! Service was also friendly.

Very good place! I’m stationed here but my family is from the Bay Area, CA with lots of good authentic Asian restaurants and this place is up to par with a lot of them! Good atmosphere inside, and most especially good food for a good price. Free ice cream too!

Absolutely delicious. Staff is courteous and smiles. Only negative is that drinks took a while to get refilled. Food was an A+ and very fresh. I will come back here.

Was a little hesitant about bringing a lunch group of ~15 on a Friday, but they did a great job! The tables were ready when we got there and the server was quick about bringing us the drinks, refills, rice, soups, and hot delicious sesame bread. They were also very good about refilling the buffet throughout our visit. Such pretty vegetables and love the variety of sauces. Only wish that they had a second cook at the grill to make it less of a wait. Yummy watermelon slices too! Would definitely come back!

I can narrow this review down to the brass tacks. Fresh and Delicious. That’s what I took away from here, besides a full stomach. Co-workers and I discovered Top Mongolian recently and I have to say it’s the best Mongolian BBQ in the Greenbrier area. The restaurant is located in a small ‘L’ shaped strip shopping center on Kempsville Rd and Volvo Parkway. It’s across from a larger shopping center with a Farm Fresh and can be easy to miss if you’re not looking for it as there’s a 7 – 11 on the same corner blocking the view of the businesses behind it. Upon entering you are immediately seated and can then get up and start choosing your selections. From the get go you’ll see the freshness of their food selection and their selection is also quite a bit larger than their closest competitor Warriors Grill. There were plenty of veggies and meats to choose from, including some seafood items. What’s all this going to cost you? Practically nothing. A single trip up was around $ 6 and the unlimited selection was about $ 8. You can’t beat those prices. If you like Mongolian BBQ this is definitely a place to put on your short list. Check them out!

I came into this particular restaurant with no prior knowledge or recommendation what so ever. I was just going off of… «it’s close by and it’s still there, let’s see what it’s about.» I’ve been to a Mongolian BBQ place before and enjoyed the stir fried goodness, so I figured it would be decent. The food here is really good and very cheap. I’ve only gone during dinner hours which averages about $ 10 a person and I’ve read from other Unilocalers that lunch prices are even cheaper. For dinner you’re given bread, rice, and a choice of egg drop or hot & sour soup. Then you can grab a bowl of noodles, add your choice of veggies, proteins, sauces, oils, and spices, then watch them stir it up to that goodness. I don’t know the tradition for this style of food but really all you have are lo mein like meals but not much else. I’m not complaining though because it fills you up and tastes great. And you can go up for more. They also have desserts available if you have room for that. There’s never a lot of visitors whenever I come so that could be a plus for you. Hopefully that doesn’t mean they’re struggling financially because the staff and owners are very kind. I plan to see how much different lunch hours are like here soon.
