It’s not a fabulous kids focused park. Two separate playgrounds(with a nice tree shade covering) that could use a little love. A big dog park, trails, picnic shelters, tennis courts and ball fields with bleachers and stadium lights. Park is clean, plenty of parking at the separate areas. It is a nice local park to get out and get some fresh air at. Building at the end of the park has restrooms and drinking fountain where the ball fields are otherwise port-a-johns are sporadically placed throughout. I don’t know how many drinking fountains there are but definitely not any by playgrounds.

When did they start making you get a membership for the dog park? Sadness…I guess my fatty flappers has no dogpark to go to anymore.

Today is my first visit to Western Branch Park; although, I’ve driven passed it oodles of times before. The big sign at the corner of the Community Center is hidden near the parking lot – keep driving on the right road. Here are some of Western Branch Park’s key features: –Wonderful dog park with a watering station –Two playgrounds(one port-a-potty next to the larger playground) –Picnic tables, and grills –Lighted Tennis courts –Lighted Softball fields(real bathroom next to the fields) –Half-court Basketball courts –Hiking Trails; the website says that it’s two-miles, but it isn’t continuous. There is also a quiet paved road that slower(15MPH) vehicles use, and can be used as an alternative hiking trail. While Western Branch Park is a pretty nice park –in general– I know of much nicer parks close by, that I would much rather use.

This is a beautiful park with trails, playgrounds, a dog park, and ball fields. No picnicking facilities unfortunately.
