I tried this spot one night on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed in the slightest. Even though we came dangerously close to closing, the waitstaff was still very pleasant and helpful. We had the Roll and Sushi Boat plus an extra volcano roll. It comes with 10 pieces of various sushi, a volcano roll, spicy friend roll, rainbow roll, spicy white tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll. Needless to say, it was very delicious! The volcano roll was good but my favorites were the spicy friend and the white tuna rolls. Can you say food coma? They are worth a return visit for sure!

The sushi was good and the staff was very nice. They have a great happy hour Monday –Thursday from 4 – 6 great prices.

I LOVE the sushi here. My favorite is the Green Leaf roll. I haven’t found another sushi place that even comes close to Yu Mi Sushi.

The sushi was great! My kids had the teriyaki chicken dinner box and they like it! We had a few different rolls, the volcano, the Norfolk, independence, Butterfly and New York. (ok we tried a lot. Lol) it was all very good. The staff was nice and attentive. It’s so close to our house– we’ll definitely be back!

Very friendly staff. Everyone takes pride in the food and presentation. Very good! Lots of choices. My family tries something different every time and have not been disappointed.

AMAAAAZING FOOD!!! Great service and beautiful décor. Fresh sushi served in beautifully and nice size portions. Kitchen food came out hot and we’ll presented. Great for lunch or romantic dinners

I went there got a yellowtail roll, California roll. Yellowtail was not good at all fish was not firm and fresh gave it to my cat he liked it. California roll well I have gotten ones that where better in supermarkets. maybe just an off day.

Never been disappointed with the food here and they always have fast and friendly wait staff. I’ve never had to wait and they’re kid friendly. Great food!

Yu-​Mi is by far our favorite sushi restaurant in Chesapeake. The sushi is fresh, and the chefs are so creative! We probably eat here once a week, and we order different rolls each time. They’re all so good, we don’t have favorites! One of these days we’re getting the sushi boat, but it’s so enormous, we haven’t tried it yet! Definite 5 stars!

Yu-​Mi never disappoints. Fresh fish, perfectly cooked rice, quick service, in a quaint little sushi restaurant, and most importantly, they’re always consistent. It’s a drive from Virginia Beach, however, the fresh tasting fish is worth it.

I love the chicken teriyaki dinner box! My husband gets the yaki soba. They never disappoint!

I heart Yu-​Mi. I have enjoyed virtually everything I have tasted here. My boyfriend and I come here fairly regularly and have never been disappointed — and the discovery of the nightly sushi happy hour was a revelation. We actually need to take a break due to sushi overdose.

The all you can eat special is fantastic! My husband and I visit both locations often.

I usually go to the one off of Volvo and it is AMAZING!!! Hands down my favorite all you can eat sushi place. Wish they had sashimi but its okay because I still love them. They also only do all you can eat for lunch which saddens me as well. but okay, lets get to the good stuff! Shrimp tempura (make SURE you say APP and ask for SHRIMP ONLY – they have a shrimp tempura roll and in the app they like to fry 2 tons of veggies along with the shrimp and no one likes veggies anyway ;)). Try all the rolls! Ive tried them all and I only fell in love with the spicy California but its THAT good. The Goyza is great too along with their soups and salads. I love the ginger dressing on their house salad (but my sister isn’t a fan). I think their seaweed salad is great too. I like this place because when I get the sushi (not the rolls, the fish on top of the rice) you can tell their fish is fresh! So I really respect and feel safe eating here. They had this one guy server who was terrible, but all the girls there now are awesome! Love this place!

Was there for all you can eat lunch. Can’t beat the price. Service was friendly and prompt. Spicy tuna roll was yumi :) and crunchy. Rainbow roll was ok… I have had better. Honestly, I could eat spicy tuna and house salad (with that awesome ginger dressing) to my heart’s content here :)

After moving back to the US from Japan Yu-​Mi was just what we needed. Sure they have all the American style rolls not found in Japan that gaijin so love, but they have they real deal too. I’m a veg and was ecstatic at the options; I had Agedashi Tofu to start followed by kanpyo maki, oshinko maki, and avocado kappa maki. My husband had the sashimi deluxe and was happy. Our other two guest had the hatamachi to start followed by the Sushi Boat for 2 – 3. Complimentary dessert was an added bonus! Slight mix-​up at the end with the green tea, they thought we wanted more ice cream and we wanted the beverage, but after switching to Japanese I was able to clear up the confusion. This place is worth the hike from Va Beach. Onaka iipai!

The night I arrived they were swamped with to go orders. I watched the sushi chefs churn out rolls while the staff backed 5 to 8 boxes at a time. Our food came out a little slow but it was good and the waitresses made jokes and apologized for the minor delay. All in all, it was a good night. Definitely a nice restaurant ran by nice people and worth a try.

Amazing sushi!!! I posted pics of my families awesome dining experience! Rolls are a HUGE! Extremely fresh fish! Sushi, sashimi and kitchen entrees are to die for! Love the gyoza and the sunomono combination! The waitresses know us when we walk in and the sushi chefs are extremely friendly! They also recently added a lunch buffet which I think is so-​so. It’s limited and I prefer to order from the regular menu. That’s the only reason for the 4 star rating. Other than that give this place a try!

My wife and I, as avid sushi lovers with 5 kids are in need of a very local (nearby) sushi spot that is both good and convenient. Yu-​Mi Sushi is only about 7 minutes from our house so when we can talk our neighbor into watching all these kids for an hour or so we jump in the car and take off for this ultra– convenient restaurant.
The rolls are fantastic, particularly the specials. Everything is fresh, well presented and very tasty. We have been several times as this is our sushi haunt of choice and have never been disappointed.
The service is also very good. Our server was authentic and knowledgeable with good communication skills.
We will be back.
