This restaurant is essentially reservation only on the weekends yet I have never been able to reach them over the phone to make a reservation. I have tried on several different occasions and no answer. They also don’t have a website. People are turned away on weekends without reservations so how are you supposed to eat here?

Excellent Wiener Schnitzel! Fantastic Mousse o chocolat! The owner is Austrian which makes the place credible.

Nice surprise! Rustic feel to it and top notch ambiance. Very classy indeed. Found familiar dishes typical from German/Austria/Poland. Schnitzels were delicious(chicken and codfish) and chocolate mousse was plenty, thick and definitely savory. A little overpriced but I’d certainly go back anyways.

This is an amazing restaurant. In addition to the wonderfully prepared food the wait staff makes you feel special. They’re attentive, helpful and spot on with anything related to the menu. Fairly limited seating so reservations should be made. It’s a worthy treat.

Don’t go to this stuck-up overpriced restaurant. No where on their website does it state you HAVE to make a reservation. We went and were told practically to get lost because we did’t have a reservation and there was seating. Go to New Mill Restaurant in Plantsville, the atmosphere is better and you don’t get turned away if you don’t have a reservation.

Bright, airy ambiance yet cozy. Wonderful food. We had the pork, sole, and goulash dishes. All tasty. A bit pricey but the quality of the meal makes it work. Happy with the service. Feels like a family run place. recommended.

After a very bad first impression, my 2nd time was pretty decent. The food was pretty Good, I had the chicken schnitzel. Well it should be good when you dont change the menu for 20 years. But yeh my salad was really good too. The only negative is the service and wait time. 20 Minutes just to get a beverage when we were seated, then it took 1 hour to get the food. If you have 2 or 3 hours to spare for a dinner and dont mind waiting then you will like this place. Do not go here if you want dinner in less than 1.5 hours.

Chef Marcus is a true genius. Had dinner on Friday was absolutely delicious. I had the mussels in mustard cream it was heavenly, almost licked the plate to get all the sauce. I also has the pork jäger schnitzel wit potato pancake just devine. The meals are served with red cabbage and fresh veggies. I could live on the red cabbage alone. No room for dessert but saw few choices on the way to other tables looked so good. I cannot wait to dine here again.

Wunder Bar! What great food and service in a comfortable relaxed setting. We will be back over and over to work our way through the menu and enjoy the chef’s specials.

Would never expect what we found last evening. This is special place made even better by the wait staff. Ask for Ron… Food was beyond exceptional! Flavors you’d never try… well just do it… beets with Gorgonzola cheese… wow! Don’t get something safe like steak… your wasting your taste buds… its Austrian food, so get something you can’t pronounce or don’t understand… disappointment is forbidden here. Best meal of the year so far… The Burns Family North American Expedition 2015

I am very happy to have found The Watch Factory, which despite a 40 minute drive, is well worth the trip. I’ve gotten the jäger schnitzel twice(along with potato pancakes) and it was utterly amazing each time. In addition, it has cozy décor, and Chef Markus kindly comes out to check in with his customers from time to time, which was a nice touch when there for my Austrian grandmother’s 90th birthday. A real treasure of an establishment.

I’ve never really had Austrian food until now(I was in the country in high school, so it’s all a blur), so I don’t know how authentic it is(I assume it’s pretty close), but WOW, was it good! Situated in the heart of the Watch Factory, this place is hard to find if you are a first timer. There aren’t any signs, and it’s called«The Watch Factory Restaurant», with no indication of it being Polish, unless you look at the menu near the entrance. The waitress was fast and friendly, giving us recommendations and answering all of our questions. We ordered the tomato leek soup with crème friache, spitzel, salmon dumpling special, and tomato and cheese quiche. Everything was perfectly cooked, from the creamy spitzel to the buttery and light soup. It’s rare that everyone raves about their dish. Chocolate mousse ended the meal, which was light in texture and not too rich. This is definitely a gem in an otherwise lackluster area when it comes to restaurants. I will definitely be coming back.

BYFAR the worse service in any restaurant in CONNECTICUT The waitress today was SORUDE that it ruined the entire, rather costly experience This was at lunchtime and there is apparently no oversight Have been there multiple times in the past and will never return nor recommend it

I’m only giving them two stars because the food really is fantastic. I lived in Bavaria for four years and know authentic food from that region. The first time my husband and I went there, the restaurant was mostly empty and the service was acceptable. The waiter/host wasn’t overly friendly and he walked past our table without stopping to bring water or offer drinks while he made drinks and served another table — TWICE. We were pretty annoyed by this any showed it by only leaving a 20% tip. I had the jaeger schnitzel(fantastic) and my husband had the venison. He loved it. In fact, he talked about that meal so much over the following year that we decided to go back for his birthday. I made a reservation and we showed up early. The restaurant was pretty busy and we stood in the entryway waiting. The server walked past us at least a dozen times without any sort of acknowledgement at all. This was my husband’s birthday, remember. After 20 minutes of standing there being ignored, we just left. The server is a schmuck and I pity the owner for not having more control over his staff(as this guy must run others off if he’d treat us this way!). The owner either knows and doesn’t care or doesn’t know or doesn’t care that he treats patrons this way. Despite being about 3 miles from our home, we will drive up to a couple hours to go to other places that have similar food. We aren’t going to pay good money for disrespectful treatment/and it cheapens the entire experience. The owner doesn’t advertise, which is probably a good thing– fewer people to be insulted by his server. It seriously deserves only one star but, as I said, the food is great(although we will NEVEREATTHEREAGAINEVER!!). It’s a shame they know absolutely nothing about hospitality or etiquette.

This place hits the high notes in all facets of a restaurant. Beautiful(authentic, I’m told) décor, much of which was crafted by the Austrian owner /chef. Soft lighting, soft jazz playing, looking through the handmade latticework at the snow lightly falling, I feel as if in an Alpine snow globe. My server was pleasant, attentive, informative, and I never had to ask for a water refill(big, in my book). Food. Awesome. Gruyère spaetzle was stellar, with a demi side of greens that had a very light vinaigrette, which nicely ‘cut’ the richness. The special soup was a cream of cauliflower & potato with a dollop of crème fraîche. Mmmm. Nicely complemented the falling snow with a wonderful warmth and velvety texture. I ordered the Wiener schnitzel and the chef added the jaeger sauce as a side. Also had a potato pancake and red cabbage. Suffice to say it was beautifully prepared and artfully plated with carrots and a small, wrapped ‘bale’ of green beans. While I’d already over eaten, I fell victim to the allure of a fresh strudel made with local apples. I don’t usually like — or eat — whipped cream. It was so rich, I HAD to take a small dollop with each bite. I need to find a reason to get down here more often. Wish I could give them six stars.

Wonderful service — charming atmosphere. Our meals were excellent. We went on a Thursday without a reservation and the hostess sat as quickly. In the future I will call ahead for a reservation. The chef came out after our meals and helped us with our coats… made our night!

Service was excellent! I was surprised to see the Chef come out to meet and greet his guests, amazing! That makes it personal. The ambiance has a cozy, country feel yet elegant. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, so is with the rest of the staff. Will definitely come again especially for that red cabbage!

I adore this place! I’ve had the venison tenderloin many times and have never been let down, in fact, nothing at this place has ever been anything less than perfect. The venison is so tender, you can cut it with your fork. Better than any steak I’ve ever had-yes, it’s that good. The gruyère spatzle is mouthwatering! A waiter, Ron… Professional, funny and delightful. Marcus the chef has duvet cooking abilities. This place is such a hidden gem.

I was at a private function here. I got to try all types of german sausages and dishes. Very very good! I can’t wait to go back to dine with my wife. The chef came out at the end to tip his hat too… very nice guy.
