Being the only place to serve sushi in Cheshire should instantly give them a 5/5, but there are other reasons too. The sushi is reasonably priced, the food is great, and the staff is friendly. I love getting a bento box for lunch or the pepper tuna/sunomono for dinner. I come here with friends at least once a week. There is only one downside, they don’t deliver. It’s too bad they don’t, I mean they could use silver spoon or something… Ah well. Still 5⁄5.

I’ve heard about this place for years and finally tried it. Impressed. I will be back to explore more of their menu and skills

I ordered the House Udon with seafood. The menu says it’s a stew. Usually a stew means it’s something that cooks for a while and also usually the broth for Japanese soups simmers for a while and has good flavor — THIS was like they dropped noodles and vegetables and a few small pieces of fish into hot water and then served it. Zero flavor. I told them and they told me they put flavor powder in it and maybe they didn’t put enough. Flavor powder in soup for $ 15? I can go get top ramen and do that myself. Very disappointing — I’m sure people rarely order soups here but if you can’t take the time to make a proper broth then take them off the menu Toro!

We were in the area for my son’s sport event. Service was slow for a Friday night as one waiter was servicing the entire dining room. The wine list was limited to types of wine and no mixed drinks, not comparable to other restaurants in the area. The food was good though.

Its not bad for Cheshire, but its not my go-to sushi restaurant. I go every once in a while just because I live very close. The atmosphere is a little too dark/dimly lit for me but usually pretty clean and the service is usually pretty good. Definitely not the freshest fish I’ve had, I would say middle of the road.

We continually go to Toro at least twice a month if not more. I always start with the Kani salad, and my husband the seaweed salad. We generally order the Elf, Phoenix, and Vocano and try a new roll every time. The service is always quick and attentive. The food is always fresh and carefully prepared. Definitely worth a try!

I went here on a Saturday for lunch with a friend. I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch Box and it was delicious! It was a nice size, so I ended up packing up the half for tomorrow’s lunch. The servers were really nice. I never saw the end of my tea cup because they refilled it so many times. The restaurant was nicely decorated. The parking was very easy since it was located in a plaza.

Best sushi in the area — no comparison. Employees are the best and make the experience enjoyable. The fish salad is a real delight. Great variety and full of fresh flavor. I’ve never been disappointed jn the different rolls I have ordered. Alway fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place!

Absolutely love Toro! Best sushi in the area, even better than New Haven! Fresh, delicious sushi and lovely staff. One suggestion: please make a written menu for your special rolls, the white boards are too crowded!

My absolute favorite sushi place. We order from here weekly and are never disappointed. The Calimari Roll and Spider Roll are my favorites. Prices are good too. You have to try this place! We have only gotten take out so far but I hope to actually sit and eat there sometime. The restaurant is tiny but looks cozy and has a nice vibe.

My husband and I order from Toro weekly. The sushi is excellent. We have tried several sushi restaurants in the greater New Haven area, and Toro is by far the best.

Not great. My family and I go out for sushi at least once each week and tried Toro for the first time. The sushi was just fair. The salmon was really fishy tasting which is not a good sign. Although presentation is not a big deal for me, this was pretty lame. 6 rolls just crowded together on a cheap plate. The service was adequate, but we will never return to this place.

Toro makes some of the best sushi I’ve had in Connecticut. Yesterday was my first time here and will not be my last. Tucked away in a small plaza with a neuropsychological testing private practice and some other businesses, it’s in an unassuming location with a similar vibe. While first impressions of the décor and ambience didn’t blow me away, the food did and that’s really what matters. My friends that I came with had been here before and both raved about it. I knew it would be good as both are selective with where they choose to dine. It’s a nice way of saying they’re food snobs and theres nothing wrong with that. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Monday night and it was so quiet we had the entire second room to ourselves. The first room, where the sushi is made, was pretty full though. The specials board was eye-catching for two reasons. Neon writing against a blackboard always stands out. The large selection of interesting combinations with fun and funky names was the other piece that caught my attention. It was difficult to read from our booth so we went up to take a look. We decided on five rolls to share, some from the regular menu and some from the specials list. We picked the Elf, Eagle, Cool, 2 in 1, and Volcano rolls. Everything was divine. The sushi rice was so perfect, the fish so fresh, and I loved the flavor combinations. This place is truly a hidden gem.

I was impressed with the rolls, and the sashimi was good too. Almost as good as my favorite place in Branford and better priced. A solid lunch experience. I’ve made excuses to travel in this area in order to have reasonably priced good sashimi. I definitely recommend the lunch specials. I like this sushi bar, and its very casual(no stuffy ‘look at me’ patrons eating huge plates of toro).

Toro Sushi continues to deliver the goods! Consistent great quality and service! Anyone who I bring here is impressed by the food and the variety. Be sure to let Tony have creative license in creating a sushi roll for you!

My wife does not like sushi so when she is out with friends or her sisters and my friend RR, is available for dinner we head over. The place is small, friendly and always busy. For good reason — the food is good — very good! and we always have good service — sometimes a language issue but that is part of the charm of the place. My friend, RR, likes to order a dish he gets other places — its not on the menu but they aways make it! I always order ala carte and enjoy the nice cuts, fresh fish and flavorful rice. It is not fancy, it s not perfect but it is a favorite!
