The Kopper Kettle, has some of the best lunches there is. I got a BLT with French Fries, which was the best BLT I had ever had, but the downside, was that the service was slow, but still 5 stars!

I ate there again this week and club sandwich was very good with sweet potato fries. Always good to see Amy as she brightens up your day.

We stopped in to have breakfast on our last day on our camping trip. I had the ham steak and eggs with a biscuit. The portions were very large and the service was very quick with a nice atmosphere. The food was delicious and the biscuit was really good. If you are in Chester stop on in its worth it

Not my favorite choice in Chester. I know lots of people rave about the huge breakfasts, but its really just a big pile of hash browns. Friendly, yes, but so is every other place in Chester. The food is not bad, its just nothing special. The Ranch House does a way better breakfast but, sadly, they have closed.

My hubby and I took a day trip up to Lake Almanor and stumbled upon this place. It is a cute little diner that seemed to have everyone in the town in it. Everything looked yummy! I just recently had bariatric surgery, so I was a little reluctant on what I should get… but they had a «diet plate» on the menu. It was a hamburger patty, side of cottage cheese and fruit. Packed with protein and pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I thought it was great that they had that on the menu. My husband got an omelette which looked delicious. I noticed people at other tables ordering a cinnamon roll that was MASSIVE and looked yummy. I would have loved to order that! This place is definitely worth trying if you ever find yourself in the little town of Chester, Ca.

My husband and I were up in the area looking at property. We ended up in Chester for the night at the Best Western(see separate review). The staff at the hotel recommended a really good place for breakfast, but unfortunately, they were closed that morning. So the other recommendation was the Kopper Kettle Café. We ate there on Tuesday, March 1st. It’s a typical diner restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and took care of us. The food was nothing exceptional. I got the french toast which was ok, but I’ve had better. My husband was ok with his bacon and eggs. However, the reason for the one star is because as soon as we walked into the building we were slammed with a very, very strong smell of mold. It was pretty sickening. The waitress was very nice and came over quickly to offer coffee, etc. My husband and I gave each other the«look» because of the smell, but we ended up staying anyway. The lady was so nice, we sort of felt obligated. I regret that decision though, as it was pretty agonizing for me as I’m really affected by bad smells, especially when I’m trying to eat. We ate in a hurry and got out of there. When we got in the car, we both said that we should have just got up and left or to be nice, drink coffee and then leave. Ugh. I’m not sure what was going on in the building, but it was really a terrible smell. Don’t think we’ll try it again.

They serve one fantastic breakfast with genorous portions and quality food. the bacon is thick and the sausage links are super big. If you are a biscuits and gravy person, be prepared. The biscuits are homemade and giant. Combine that with Amy’s homemade gravy and you have a belly buster. Yum! Burgers are great and if you want turkey they roast it there. The latest change is they have hired a Chinese Chef and now serve really good Chinese food. No shortcuts here, just more great food to add to their huge menu.

My wife and I have been coming to the Kopper Kettle in Chester for 25 years. We eat at many other restaurants in the area and out of town(we’re from SoCal) so we have had a variety of fare and feel qualified to review any restaurant. The Kopper Kettle is a family restaurant and serves a large cross-section of people, from local residents to relatively sophisticated visitors. It does not to pretend to be a gourmet bistro or attempt to offer its own unique creations. It simply offers great country-style food served in generous portions for a reasonable price. We have found the owners to be gracious and friendly. They are extremely hardworking and go out of their way to make people feel comfortable and welcome. Their generously-portioned food has always been served hot and delicious by very attentive, friendly staff. Amy(one of the owners), Sonya(Amy’s daughter), Carol, Michelle, and Candace are just super! We love this place, love the family, love the staff, and love the food. We are well aware that country-style food may not satisfy all palettes. For those people who are looking for unique food to satisfy their sensitive needs, perhaps the Kopper Kettle would not be their«cup of tea». But for the rest of the folks just wanting hearty, good country food cooked the way it should be: Come to this restaurant, YOU won’t be disappointed! Dean and Penny S.

After six hours on the road, we stopped in for a bite to eat. Chinese food in a diner? Okay… but we played it safe. We both got burgers, and they were standard issue, fine. The homemade potato salad and cole slaw was a pleasant surprise. Those are five-star worthy.

Just okay — went there during the fall months during the week. Glad to see something open and definitely fine for that. I had a patty melt and it filled me up. Husband actually had the liver and onions and said it was good.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to… I can’t remember. It was in the middle of a long trip. This is a diner plain and simple. Candy was our server and the service was EXCELLENT! The food was very good and very reasonably priced. What can I say… In a vacation that spanned two weeks, 3100 miles and more than a couple dozen meals, The Kopper Kettel in the middle of freakin’ Susanville stood out enough for me to write a review!

YUM!!! I was a little hesitant to come given that I usually go with reviews on here. But I’m so glad I came. First off, everyone is super friendly. My server was adorable. Super nice and bubbly. Second, ORDERTHERIBEYE!!! I like my meat medium well. I think no matter how you like it you will enjoy it. It was juicy, flavorful, and done perfectly. Third, the servings are huge and the prices are great for what you get. And finally: SAVEROOMFORDESSERT!!! I ordered the chocolate cake not knowing it would be a colossal mountain of chocolate. Seriously… GIANT. I have pics here. I had to get a to go box. I will for sure come here again tomorrow for dinner.

Just had lunch here on our way to Reno. My Reuben and sweet potato fries were fresh and tasty. My friend enjoyed her cheeseburger and kept commenting on how different and good her coleslaw was. Lots of locals, fast friendly service and quite clean. So glad we stopped here.

Stayed in Chester for one night and this was the restaurant that was chosen to accommodate 21 bikers for dinner. It’s Chester after all, not much around here. So don’t expect anything fancy. It’s a diner where you can get something to eat. But there is a lighted sign that said Chinese Food. In my mind I was thinking this is odd. When I walked in an older couple came out and said don’t eat their Chinese food. So of course I was skeptical. I walked in and the restaurant is owned by an Asian couple so I’m thinking how can their Chinese food be bad? Unless the owners being Asian decided to concoct something up to test? So of course I stayed clear of the Chinese food and ordered a hamburger. A couple of people from our group ordered Chinese food and it looked pretty good and smelled authentic. Being Asian and from the bay area I decided to be nosey and find out more about the owners. The couple is from San Francisco and they wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco and come to a small quiet town. They’ve owned the restaurant for 15years. Their children still live in San Francisco but come to help them out every so often when they have time. I oh so regret not ordering their Chinese dishes. I shouldn’t have listened to the couple that told us not to order their Chinese food. All I can say is what did the couple know about food? They for sure are not foodies and they either come from a small town or live in a state that doesn’t serve Chinese food or nor have they ever seen what Chinese food looks or taste like. Overall the food was edible but what can you expect when you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere? The food came out slowly but we didn’t expect it to come out at the same time since there were only 2 chefs and 21 orders to fulfill. As the owner stated the only traffic they get is during the summer and during the winters most of the restaurants surrounding them close down. I didn’t find out from the rest of the group what they thought of the food. This is only based on my opinion.

Started off our day with a tasty Denver Omelette with hash browns and sourdough toast. Excellent cheesy pepper jack and not too much grease. Very good hash browns and good toast. Crystal OJ best that I’ve had in a long while. Sammy(we just decided on his name when I called — I wanted Ted), the 15“ish Red-bellied Pacu looks like he could use a bigger tank. Hope they put his new name on the info sheet next to the tank.

Definitely a diner, with appropriate ambiance. I was a little reluctant since it’s always iffy hitting a random spot. The menu listed breakfast, lunch and dinner menus — I asked our friendly waitress if they were still serving lunch(at dinner time) and she said they serve everything all the time! I had a BLT w/fries, wife had eggs and a waffle. Food was good. I’d go back.

Very friendly staff. The usual diner fare. One of two breakfast places in Chester during the off season.
