Why give a dive bar 5 stars? Because they have the best breakfast in the Almanor Basin; way better than the Kopper Kettle. Because I’m sitting at the bar with my friends, drinking Bloody Marys and having a great time. And the food; enormous portions, thick sliced bacon, prime rib and eggs, breakfast burritos the size of a tree squirrel and the Bloody Marys, did I mention the Bloody Marys? I’ve heard raves about the burgers and the prime rib but sadly will have to wait until summer rolls around again to try them. Tip for larger groups: they only have one big table so you should call ahead to reserve it.

If you want the best breakfast in the lake Almanor area this is it. The loggers breakfast is awesome! Huge portions of everything! Biscuits and gravy is just like mom used to make. Service is very good.

Food is great. Burgers are juicy and tasty and breakfast is hearty. Don’t expect a big lunch menu. Just burgers and grilled cheese, but hey they are yummy! They also have a great bar and best bloody mary in town. Downside is that they are not open many hours. Few days a week only until 1 or 2. They occasionally will do a Saturday steak dinner. I like the place.

I love chorizo and when I saw it on the menu I was excited. When it came it looked like a dry slab of meat– it was. Absolutely, No flavor I had two bites and that was it. The hash browns and bloody Mary’s were bomb. Next time I’ll stick to a traditional egg breakfast like the rest of my party who were all happy with their breakfast’s and agreed mine was crap. 4 stars cause the service, atmosphere and biscuits were awesome.

Our good friend has a vacation home in Chester. I’ve just returned from a few days at Lake Almanor and had a chance to eat at the Ranch House twice both for breakfast. Basic rustic looking restaurant, long bar as you walk in, Old school 50’s shuffleboard table on the opposite side of the room. Country music playing, and stroll out back and play a few rounds of horseshoes while awaiting your meal, all of course while nursing your Bloody Mary. Nice! Breakfast menu consisting of egg & meat combos. Looking over the menu, our waitress asks if we’d like a Bloody Mary, YES! Very tasty nice balance of flavors, horseradish and good ‘may-ter juice of the non crappy Mr T’s mix style. Not super spicy but very good. Food-wise:I decided to try the Chili Verde Omelet. Wow! Good pork, great spice, tasty Verde sauce and well prepared, eggs moist, not all dried out, comes with Hash browns on the side and your choice of toast. I went Rye, sour & quite good too. I noticed man walking in from another area carrying a big pan with a massive piece of Beef, impaled full of garlic cloves and assorted mystery spices. He mentioned that on Saturday night they cook a prime rib meal that comes with all the sides and dessert, for I believe $ 26, not bad. I’m sure it’s a tasty piece of meat from what I saw. We’ll have to try on a return visit though to confirm it’s Beef-a-liciousnous. My second AM visit, I decided to try the” Logger”. WTF is a logger? A great dish featuring 3 eggs, cooked to your liking, hash browns and 2 epic homemade sausage links. REALLYKILLERSAU-SEIGE! Oh, and slam some Sausage gravy on there too! Didn’t see a defibrillator on the wall but might not be bad idea as this is a meal that sticks! Good, hearty, honest no-BS food. If you’re up in this neck of Nor Cal, go give’em a try. I think you’ll like it, we did!
