I have been meaning to review Weather Crafters for years but I am ill and disabled and it takes me a long time to get to things but I think people need to be aware even though time has passed. When Mark Bartlett’s father owned the company it was run well. Then Mark bought the company but in the interim, before he got a contractor’s license, he put the company under Woodfin, but was operating as though he was a licensed contractor and owner of Weather Crafters. Thinking I was dealing with Weather Crafters I hired them to replace my oil furnace. Thinking his guys were doing a good job I then I hired him to replace my hot water heater. Then I hired them to install a HVAC system in my home but at this point her was not operating as Weather Crafters and was licensed. Of course I find all this out later when I started to immediately have problems with my HVAC system. I contacted Mark about my system. He was non-responsive. I contacted Trane, the manufacturer. I was told that the system was too large for my home. If a system is under or over sized it will not heat and cool efficiently. Time passed, I was ill and mostly incapacitated. I called Mark and called Trane and no one did anything. Finally my HVAC system broke. I called the County of Henrico. Mark had never gotten permits. Bingo. He was caught. He needed permits on everything. The county officials came out and inspected not only the HVAC system but the water heater and the Oil furnace. Nothing was done too code. There were mistakes on everything. Mark did not even have a certified electrician install the wiring for my HVAC system and what his guys did could have caused a fire in my home. It took several years of dealing with Mark and believe me he can be one ugly, verbally abusive man. He didn’t care about doing the work right and he wasn’t happy that I got him in trouble and he got caught. His license was on the line with all the violations. He would call me and act so ugly on the phone that it was obscene. It was hard but I stuck to my guns and the county made him fix everything that was wrong. He didn’t have to fix my oil furnace even though it was his guys that did the work as he was operating his business under Woodfin so he could bypass paying the fees at the time before he transferred his father’s business into his name. He only stayed under the Woodfin umbrella for a very short time. Let me make this clear. Even though the county had to make Woodfin correct all the mistakes on my oil furnace non of this really had anything to do with Woodfin. Their guys did not do the work and they were unaware of what Mark and his crew were doing. So, Weather Crafters is still owned by Mark… a person who lied, cheated, scammed and yelled and screamed at his client when he was in the wrong, because he got caught and didn’t care about the work he did. So buyer be ware. I wouldn’t hire his company to wash my car! P. S. Tony apparently still works for Weather Crafters from reading the other reviews. He is a good guy and does a decent job but he does what Mark tells him to do. He worked on all 3 of my systems and they all did not pass code and were done incorrectly. While I liked Tony, again, he works for Mark and in my case he did everything wrong and later it bit him and Mark in the butt!

I got weather crafters to install my heat pump. I got a trane unit. Its the best unit I have ever owned. It does a very good job on cooling my house. They did a great job installing the unit. The workers were very nice. They showed me how to use the thermostat before they left. I would highy recommend the trane unit and weather crafters to install it. They will install it right and for a good price.
