First time at the Chesterfield Inn. Kind of a neighborhood dive bar(not a bad thing in my opinion, I likes my dive bars) where everyone knows you’re name. We ordered the calamari appetizer. They were okay if you are really hungry and a little drunk. I find plates of perfectly symmetrical calamari without the tentacles to be a little questionable. Stay away from the calamari. There were some appetizer specials that I would have like to try but we weren’t that hungry. For dinner, hubby picked the Jambalaya and I went with a ribeye steak sandwich. They have two versions. I picked The Chesterfield because I saw the word«cheese». If you say there’s «cheese» in any dish you have me. I likes my cheese. I have to say I really enjoyed the taste. The steak was medium rare, seasoned, presented on a nice soft french roll. The steak had a buttery taste and texture. Hubby’s plate was accompanied by an entire roll(almost the size of loaf) of French bread with a cup of butter. He said his Jambalaya was good. I questioned the authenticity(it seemed out of place on the menu), but later the bartender said the new chef for the past 8 months is from New Orleans and he cooks his mama’s recipes. For dessert we had the bread pudding with whiskey sauce. A very generous portion surrounded by 4 big mounds of whipped cream. Hubby and I had a fork duel trying to get the last pieces. It was delicious. The atmosphere is predominately a middle-age crowd of seeming regulars. Everyone is liberally lubricated but well behaved and just sitting and chatting at the bar. The bartenders were very accommodating and friendly. I had some shots and they were generous and pretty cheap(house). Our check was very reasonable. We’ll probably be back and this may become our go to neighborhood bar BTW don’t be in a rush. Food can take some time to come out. This is not a problem for us as we hate when we are rushed eating. We eat out for the experience of taking our time to enjoy our meals.

I got the chicken nachos and triple decker grilled cheese with tomato. Both were very good and I highly recommend it. I deff would go back here bc the service was good and I liked the rustic atmosphere.

Best food and best bartenders around! Just wish it was bigger so you could actually get in the door on a Friday night!

Bad experiences, too many drunk idiots, and always pay cash! Nick and Walt lost my receipt and tried to overcharge my credit card! Luckily I saved my receipt to prove the dispute. Place used to be nice and relaxing, now you have guys putting drugs in females drinks! Watch out people!

This place is fantastic. It’s a wonderful hometown bar, a fine restaurant, a historic adventure, and a place to meet and catch up with friends and family. The food is always wonderful. They cater to my special dietary needs. The fra diavlo sauce is incredable! Norm, the chef, is a genius in the kitchen. He adds his own native New Orleans flair to great food. During the growing season all the produce served is fresh picked daily on a farm under a mile away! It doesn’t get any better than that!

I will not be ordering again. If you are«too busy» to provide my order within even near the time you gave then have the decency to not take my order to begin with. I had to sit for a half hour passed the 30mins given to me with 2 screaming toddlers! All I ordered was a chicken sandwich, quesadilla &VERYOVERPRICED fries($ 6). Then you have the AUDACITY to charge me a $ 1 to go fee. This is not good business.

We come here pretty often. it’s a decent size place. There is a bar side and a rest. side. Even on the rest side, we normally order from the bar menu for the most part. Every time the french fries with hot sauce and mozzarella cheese is a given. The are terrific. Big crispy steak fries. Yum. Last time I had the tomato pie(personal size) it was really good… Fiancé had the bar pie with sausage. He was happy. Son’s GF had chicken sandwich. She absolutely LOVED the bread. The food here is consistently yummy. Waitresses are normally very nice. This past visit she wasn’t the best but her assistant was very very sweet. The inside is very pretty. Original antique ceilings.

Our family of five were looking for a place to eat after visiting Fernbrook Farms. A husband and wife recommended Chesterfield Inn. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a great place in what seemed the middle of nowhere. We sat in the bar area(the dining area looked too bright and quiet). We had the sausage bar pie and kids had tripple decker grilled cheese w bacon. $ 2 beer specials. All of the food was excellent. One of the best grilled cheese we’ve all had. Our waiter, Tim, had a very fun personality and was very attentive. The kids even commented on how nice he was. All reasonably priced. Look forward to another stop by on one of our CSA trips this summer.

Third visit was no charm. Slow service. The veal was way too salty as was the manager. The Chesterfield Inn is a very charming and quite historical place. It could be so much better if they spent more time on the details. We saw our waiter when he took our order. A second time when we complained about the excess use of salt and a third and final time when we were able to flag him down for our check. The place could be so much better.

Love going to The Chesterfield! Food is pretty good, just don’t order anything that has marinara sauce on the side. It’s very watery. Staff is very friendly and the bar itself looks great now that they’ve expanded. Always a place I take family and people new to the area :)

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Tim S. and Chris M. on the Chesterfield Inn. My family had been there before a few years ago, but no one remembered service being so dreadfully slow. A waitress sat us down and offered dinner menus… but nothing for beer, wine, and liquor. The waiter for our table came around after about five or ten minutes, talked about the beer on tap. My parents each got a beer, but I felt like wine instead. A few minutes later, he came back with a wine list… and disappeared for a few minutes. He came back with the beers and to take my wine order… and then disappeared for a few minutes. He came back with my wine, and only then decided to take orders. My father decided he wanted to ask about specials… and the waiter disappeared for another minute to grab his cheat sheet.(I’m guessing the waiter was probably new and hadn’t worked out a rhythm for doing dinner yet. My suspicions were later confirmed as I only saw him carrying two plates out at any given time.) He checked up on us periodically, but like a bad restaurant joke, the fastest service was processing the check. And, now the speed of service… This is where things go downhill. We sat down around 6:30, and didn’t get out until 9PM after one course and 2 drinks each. As I mentioned, the waiter took some time to get things started. Fine. Bread was brought out with the salads about fifteen minutes later. Sooner would have been nice, but whatever. As for the entrees, it took over an hour for those. The waiter stopped by at around the hour mark to let us know things were coming soon which was nice. However, at about 45 minutes into the wait, the dining room cleared up significantly, and people sat down at a new table in our area. They ordered sandwiches and a quesadilla, and got everything in 20 minutes… before even a hint that our food was coming. So, with the family a bit annoyed, I got up and asked to speak to a manager. She stated that she would check on things and mentioned how«some dishes take longer to make than others» as I referenced the other table that got their food before us. That’s fully understandable, but about 70 – 75 minutes for a chicken dish, a pork chop dish, and a sandwich is unacceptable with a half-empty dining room. Food was good when it did come, and the manager did come and ask us how everything was right after it came out(Perhaps a bit late, ma’am?) So, while the food was good, the wait was far too long. We nixed the thought of coffee and dessert after the dinner wait. I’m not sure if the problem was due to the kitchen crashing for some reason(which would be bad given the low volume), inexperienced wait staff, being understaffed, lackadaisical management, or an overly complicated menu, but something is off, and service suffered as a result. Sorry, but it’s not worth coming back.

I really want to like this place and leave it a five star review. The people are really nice and its a fun laid back bar. i really like the old building. I went here with my in-laws recently and sat in the bar for dinner. We waited 2 hours for our dinner. Nothing was very good. My wife ordered Mahi Mahi and got something breaded that looked like it came out of a Gortons box.

A very historic, charming and convenient place to eat with friends and family. I have been going here for years and love the hometown feel. I tend to only go for drinks and more of the night life. They usually have a live band on big weekend nights which is fun. Let me say one thing– it is horrible how you have to PAY to keep the music on when a band isn’t performing. That juke box thing on the wall – way overpriced! They should always have some tunes playing in the background for the people at all times, on the house. Not sure if they updated this situation but every time I have went it has been like this. The food is alright but usually a bit pricey. As a local resident, we would order pizza every now and then for takeout since there was nothing else around. It was always just OK. Nothing special, but always hit the spot. I feel like they need more drink specials at night. A lot of people squish outside in the front porch area to smoke and I think that they should expand that particular area to fit more people. Overall, the place is nice and always a good time. Just be careful on a busy night because you will have to fight for a parking spot and a place to sit(for the bar)! No joke!

I came here for a small reception one of my friends had. It was small maybe 40 people. The place was decently nice and the staff was helpful. We even pulled some shenanigans and they that the staff and the grooms father helped with. Owner was pretty nice. My one problem was when I got my dinner. I ordered a rare cut of prime rib. So when the dinner came out the started giving out dinners, and finally they bring over a cut for myself and tell me this medium cut is your, and I told the waiter kindly that I had ordered it rare. Well he goes in the back and another waitress comes out about a minute later drops off the plate and says here is your rare steak. Looking at it I could tell it was the same medium steak, but to humor them I cut into it, the center was barely pink. Going for a confirmation I cut a few inches from the side and its grey. If anything this cut is medium well. For the next 10 minutes or so they waiter avoid our table I eventually go up and told the owner. Who fixed it right away. But the wait staff shouldn’t be pulling shit like that. The place was nice the pastas were good, but I wasn’t happy with the way they staff tried skirting around the entrée mix up.

Regretfully, I really can’t recommend the Chesterfield Inn for anything more than burgers and drinks. Their menu is very ambitious, with lots of pastas and other entrees, but what comes out isn’t very good. A recent dinner for our party of eight took TWOHOURS for our food to be served. We had drained our drinks and the cheerful waitron was nowhere to be found. A glass of water or something stronger would’ve been nice. I watched a party of five that arrived after us order, eat and leave before we saw any food. The meals were so-so: overcooked gnocchi and ziti in gloppy sauces, a wan prime rib, «roasted Italian herbed chicken» that was just okay. The salads were appallingly bad: all white parts of the lettuce. What happened to the green parts? This was a Saturday night, busy, but the staff didn’t seem overwhelmed, just missing(along with the food). The staff is very nice, I must admit, as is the atmosphere. Go for drinks and burgers, like I said, but avoid the rest of the menu. Modesty is the Chesterfield’s best policy for it’s patrons.

The wait staff, manager, and bartender were all very nice. The inn is very rustic and you feel comfortable while there. The food was OK, I felt my boyfriend could make it(and he doesn’t really cook dinner often). Unfortunately, for the price, the food wasn’t worth it. If the plates were $ 10.00 and not $ 20.00, I wouldn’t even bring it up, and would go back to eat. Next time I go, it will be for drinks at the bar, not the food.
