I didn’t try anything here and was here cause I wanted to pee. Ambience is kinda formal here(on a scale of 1 – 10 I think it’s 6). Awesome interior design with artificial waterfall in the back. Staff was quite helpful as they pointed me to the restroom and didn’t show a frown on when I asked for the restroom. Over all if you like formal environ and water fall. Go for it.

P.F. Chang’s was too crowded and told us we had to wait an hour and a half, so came here as an alternate choice for Friday night. There are a lot of old people here. So in the beginning it just felt odd. The food was great though, crab cake, clam chowder, scallops, lobster, and ice cream brownie dessert were all excellent. I highly recommend this place, but be prepared to be sitting around a bunch of old people.

Awesome food had the big eye tuna with fried eggplant gouda cheese it was one of the best things I’ve ever had fish wise, definitely would recommend that to anyone! They also had craft beer on draft which is also a plus something different than just bud light and budweiser, which they still had too. Had a 4 hands beer there on draft which was really good and really the first time I got to really try 4 hands not many place’s have it, it’s still farely new and I’m always excited to try new beer

Went to lunch and all went well. Waiter was polite and made sure our drinks were filled. He did a good job of keeping bread plate and drinks full. Food was acceptable I got the fish tacos and my wife got the crap cake. It was good. Waiter forgot to ask us if we wanted dessert. Took awhile to cash out I would send my friends to try this place out. A little pricey for lunch

October 19, 2013 This venue is perhaps on its 4 restaurant. The location is great but this time, all Oceana did was move in and occupy the space. The décor and all this is just fine. No complaints. This Saturday night at 7:30 found the place virtually empty. Maybe a forth of the house was occupied? Our server Christi did a superb job. Our food was mediocre in my opinion. My date had the scallops with a spinach salad. I had an ahi tuna and the clam chowder. When ordering wine by the glass, they pour from the bottle at the table. Nice service feature. I am not a big fan of risotto and it seems chefs must serve all their seafood over risotto. Christi did get the kitchen to swap golden beets for the corn infused risotto. Well. I barely touched the risotto. It was pasty, bland, and obviously way over cooked. I’d rather have a different pasta choice. Angel hair perhaps? Would I go back? Probably not. Too bad since we enjoyed a couple of the previous establishments much, much more.

I had very high hopes for this restaurant after hearing rave reviews about the Oceano in Clayton. Unfortunately, I’ve dined here 4 times now and each experience was more disappointing than the last. Dishes to absolutely avoid in the event you are forced to go to this place for anything other than cocktails: Sea Bass and Calamari

Delicious! Had lunch here on my way out of town and it was fabulous. My scallops were cooked PERFECTLY. The backyard patio is charming and relaxing. The service was great too. I would definitely return for those scallops next time I’m in town.

We started off with the salmon on flatbread, too fishy for my liking, although my boyfriend did enjoy it. He got the lobster risotto, which I was going to order but decided on the Chilean sea bass. After trying his over salted lobster risotto, I was super happy with my sea bass decision. The starter bread(ciabatta) came with a red pepper purée with olive oil, this was awesome! Wine was excellent, dessert was good, we had the phyllo brownie. The worse part of the evening was the service; gentleman was friendly, however, never thanked us, and never asked us how are meal was. Bill was $ 112, 130 when all was said and done, you think we would have been thanked.

We went last night for the four courses for $ 25 special running through April. The food, except for salad and dessert, was fine, not exceptional but not bad. However, the service was some of the worst we’ve experienced. Ever. The server seemed soooooo PO’d when we all ordered the special, and service went down hill from there. She never checked in if we needed anything, extremely slow, and had quite an «attitude» as if we were wasting her time, even thought the dining room only had one other table at 8PM on a Thursday. As to the food, my house salad was basically just lettuce and quite over-dressed(I forgot to ask for dressing on the side) with three small tomato pieces and a few red onion slices, and the crème brûlée was inedible with no discernible flavor other than cooked EGG. Disgusting. I don’t think we will ever eat in the dining room again. Night and day experience from the Clayton location, where we have dined many times. Very disappointing.

We have been to the Clayton location several times and decided to try the Chesterfield location, and I’m very happy we did. I really liked the ambience. Our meal(oyster appetizer, mahi mahi and ahi tuna entrees and phyllo brownie dessert) was great, and our server, Ben, was wonderful. Looking forward to going back, and hopefully the weather will be nice so we can try out the impressive patio.

A disaster. Table not ready. Ordered special. Told an hour later they were out. Ordered chicken. 20 minutes later told out of potatoes. Chicken came as if microwaved in big puddle of juice. Broke cork on wine bottle. Decanted wine. Left cork in decanter. Wtf?

I’m not sure why we have never been to Oceano. Perhaps there are just too many restaurants on our list and too little time since we limit these outings to once per week when we are not travelling. The coupon was set to expire in March and we have some travel dates so this was the night. Oceano is located in a place that has been home to a number of restaurants on Chesterfield Parkway. In fact, I drive around this side of the parkway so seldom, I never can remember what is there currently, yet it is so close to home that we could almost have walked if it had not been raining. Oceano’s wine corkage is $ 15 which is too high(in my opinion) but is the max I will pay. Their wine list is not remarkable. I guess the trend I read about a couple of years ago, of restaurants becoming more corkage friendly due to a tough economy, never really made it to St Louis. We decided to leave our wine at home and just have a glass there. I will give them points for having real wine glasses and for serving a very good pour. We started with Frito Misto because we always seem to want fried calamari. This mixture included rock shrimp and assorted vegetables, all lightly battered and fried. It was a little more vegetable than seafood. It was accompanied by a lemon aioli and was fine. The portion was more than two of us needed. Bread was served with a little olive oil and a roasted pepper purée for dipping. The purée was garlicky and herbal and very good. Ms T chose Grilled Sea Scallops and I had Sauteed Sea Bass. My sea bass was served over a bed of risotto with slivered fresh asparagus underneath. Something called smoked tomato butter was puddled around the edges. It was a good selection, well prepared and while not deep in flavors, I enjoyed it. I think the tomato butter could have been better developed to set off the mild fish. My only complaint was that the asparagus included some of the fibrous woody outer layer. Our home farm included an asparagus bed so I know whereof I speak. You can count on Oceano to not overcook your seafood. My sea bass was probably medium rare and as a result, very moist. This might concern some people. Ms T’s scallops were served a la carte. There were five large scallops, a very nice serving. Ms T loves seared scallops, in this case grilled, but she would have liked to have these done a little more. They were very rare indeed. She decided they were OK though and did not ask for them to be grilled more(which I’m sure they would have gladly done). Since neither entrée came with a significant vegetable I ordered a side of sautéed spinach. I liked this very much, with bacon, onion and despite the tons of fried garlic which is not a favorite of mine. This is a nice place, with very good service. Portions are not stingy and we brought about half home. The menu is small and fairly simple which I prefer. The food was good but did not quite wow me. I just needed a more developed flavors, mainly in the seasoning of the fish, the tomato butter and from the grill on the scallops. I am at a very strong three stars for a single visit. My scale gets tougher for $ 50 per person meals. I’m sure we will get back now that we know what is here. I was glad to see that they were busy despite a cold, rainy night.

I’ve dined at this location since it was Crazy Fish and I’ve always enjoyed the restaurants that have occupied the building. After having a sampling of appetizers at a work Christmas party, it continues its streak. I have to say everything I had was pretty good. I tasted their Kobe sliders, prawns, crab cakes and salmon flat bread. The Kobe sliders had great flavor, but were hit and miss on the temperature. Some were burnt to a crisp and some were bloody as hell. The prawns were huge and the sauce that it bathed in was very good. The crab cakes were very rich and probably my favorite, very tasty. The flat bread was very good too, but the crust of some were a little soggy. I’m not sure I would come here for a full blown dinner, but it has a great bar area and it is a convenient location for happy hour.

how do you try out a new place that’s a little bit pricey? Use a Groupon, of course! Went to Oceano Bistro last Friday with the wife. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I had been to the same location several times when it was Andria’s, and way back when it was Crazy Fish, but didn’t know how Oceano would set it up. I was pretty pleased at the atmosphere. It was lighter than when Andria’s, with what I can best describe as casual elegance. The staff were all very pleasant, checking frequently on our needs and how we enjoyed ourselves. So plusses so far. The menu was mainly seafood, of course. My wife is not a big seafood eater, but figured you should stay to the strengths — so she ordered the salmon($ 29), which is one of the few fish she likes. Odd, since it has a fairly strong flavor. It was done well, being light and flaky, not dry, and had a nice, flavorful glaze. I was going to order the Alaskan halibut, but the special for the day was walleye, so I went with that. It still had skin on one side, very tender and flaky, with a light pleasant flavor. It was served over a garlic mashed potatoes, with a light sauce. When describing it, the waitress said it wasn’t as heavy as it sounded, and the price was only $ 23. I should have realized that it wouldn’t fill me up, but didn’t realize it until I saw the dish. It wasn’t small, but it wasn’t overly large. There are no sides served with the entrees, although my wife pointed out there were sides listed for purchase on the menu. This is similar to what Stoney River does. I wish I had noticed them — or that the waitress had at least mentioned them. She could have easily done it tactfully, so that I would simply have the option. I really don’t like how some restaurants sell sides separately. it seems like a sneaky way to make the price of meals seem cheaper when you mainly focus on the entrees. Dinner salads were choice of either garden or Caesar, according to the menu. However, when I was a little hesitant on what to order, the waitress said that they also did a spinach salad for the same price — it was just a smaller version of the full size spinach salad, without the chicken. Well then, jjust put it on the menu! At least the salads tasted good. So overall, a pleasant atmosphere, attentive staff, I don’t like being forced to purchase sides in addition to my entrée(especially when I don’t notice that and the waitress doesn’t tell me), a bit pricey for what you get(but not outrageous), food was well prepared and well presented though. Not quite up to 4 stars for me, but perhaps after they have a bit more time for find their pace.

Amer and team deliver at a very high level. The place is fantastic and rivals Clayton for service and Food. This is my go to place for fresh seafood in St. Louis. Chesterfield is starting to have some really first rate restuarants and there is no need to drive to Clayton or the City. Shrimp app and tuna is fantastic. Go here for fresh seafood.

LOVE this place! I was excited to try out the food because I have heard great reviews from friends who keep raving about it. I went with my parents and everything was delicious. I loved the ambiance — very sleek and clean. The outdoor patio is super nice and they have this great waterfall that really draws your eye. I have been to the Clayton location, which is wonderful, but I really loved the Chesterfield location a lot more. I had the scallops, which I highly recommend, because they were delicious! The sauce that goes with it is amaazing. Their wine list is extensive and my server was really helpful with recommendations. My parents loved the service and everything was fabulous. I lived in Chicago for a long time and recently moved to St. Louis — I have been seeking great restaurants in STL and I can definitely say this is one of the best — on par with some of my favorites in Chicago. I will definitely be going back and would advise others to try it — you will not be sorry!

Tuesday, 8÷29÷12 ordered the tuna«burger» I believe I received Scombroid food poisoning from tuna consumed on Tuesday, 8÷28÷12 at Oceana in Chesterfield. 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant, my face and neck were completely red, followed by a number of other very nasty symptoms that I don’t need to share here. If you want to know, you may Google Scombroid. I reported this to the restaurant Tuesday evening, however they did not seem very concerned. The manager explained that they have very safe food handling techniques which is very well true, however I tried to explain that more than likely the tuna was bad before they received it. I ate the tuna«burger» which was seared tuna(very undercooked). I do not have any food allergies and eat raw tuna(sushi) frequently. I don’t think this was sushi grade tuna and should not be served as rare as it was served. I am not looking for anything other than to prevent anyone else from receiving food poisoning.

Great place, nice atmosphere, staff is very friendly with excellent service. The seafood is great, the ceviche was presented differently, almost as a carpaccio but nonetheless the seafood was fresh. Also tried the prawns, removed the shell table side, great flavor. A must try, GO!

Attended a business dinner last night in the private dining room. This is in the location that Andria’s formerly occupied. What an amazing transition from Andria’s. .. the bar is not closed in, but has glass walls, making it so much more open! And the private dining room is more elegant and sophisticated. We had choices of salad/soup, entrée and dessert. The mixed salad was a spring mix, tomatoes, bleu cheese, red onion, potato straws and a balsamic vinaigrette. Yum all the way around. Wonderful flavor blend. The potato straws added a nice crunch, but there weren’t too many, so they did not overwhelm the salad. Those who got the New England Seafood Chowder raved about it. I opted for the scallops for entrée. Five gorgeous, huge beautifully seared(dry packed from Georges Bank, ) scallops with a white truffle beurre fondue. Fabulous dipping sauce. And the scallops were so buttery wonderful and cut easily with a fork. Great taste! Other options that were ordered and enjoyed: Missouri rainbow trout topped with slivered toasted almonds and apple cider pork chops(2), which was a humongous portion. The ONLY reason I didn’t give 5 stars: they were mixed up on serving sides, which were supposed to be served family-style. It seems they forgot to do that, so they came out kinda late through the entrée with some saucer-sized plates of mashed potatoes that were REALLY creamy. .. I mean they were runny. They tasted good, but the consistency and texture were not what you want for a mashed potato. For dessert: mini white chocolate apple bread pudding, which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and wading in a caramel/butterscotch sauce. A nice, not-too-big portion, the bread pudding was moist and flavorful with a few raisins. The trio of the bread pudding, ice cream and sauce was just melt-in-your-mouth delicious! One guy ordered the chocolate chip cookie for dessert. I just thought ho-hum when I saw it on the menu. Holy cow! Was THAT a dessert! There were TWOHUGE cookies served with fresh fruit and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Bravo presentation!
