Friendly, bright, clean, upscale, but the service was extremely slow in a not so busy restaurant The food that we waited on so long was mediocre. Sauces weak and bland. Won’t return.

My fiancée and I tried Picasso’s Bistro due to a LivingSocial coupon she purchased for us. When we walked in my first impression was, «What are they trying to accomplish here, are they going for formal or casual». We were seated in a large room with a nice chandelier that seemed very clean, that was the only plus I can think of. The faux leather menus were from the Trattoria Branica and they had glued paper«Picasso’s» logos onto them. It looked like something a 5th grader would have done. The service was slow, the bread was mediocre at best, the Tomato Anchovie salad was very small and for the life of me I couldn’t find any signs of an anchovie anywhere. The steak prices were on par with Ruth Chris, so I ordered a seafood pasta. It was bland and runny. I was not impressed. I even had to add salt… something I would never expect to do at such a «fine» restaurant. The prices were way too high and the food quality was just poor. I am not a picky man, but I have certain criteria that have to be met for such steep prices, and this was definitely outside of the parameters of acceptability. Worst of all, for the price we paid, I still left hungry. Skip this one, there are many more places to go in the Valley.

A Groupon gave us the chance to try this place which was previously a mediocre-rated Italian restaurant called Trattoria Branica(signage remains). We were told we needed reservations, however, only three other parties were there on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. At first glance, the place offers little ambience — more akin to a middle school gymnasium with open seating and very small tables. White table cloths(no candles), large leather-bound menus with $$$ prices for relatively uninspired dishes with generous servings. Bread was served with no olive oil or grated cheese. Salad was the purple lettuce-variety with a Balsamic Vinegar, nothing more. The theme of the place is based upon a Valentine motif which is embellished with artwork that suggests the level of accomplishment of high school art students. Restrooms have nice faucets and sinks but the sconces adjoining circular mirrors are broken and/or burned out in both men’s and women’s lavatories. Outside, patio furniture is mixed between steel, plastic and more plastic. An odd almost ad hoc effect that looks like it was done very much on the budge. Overall, this place doesn’t have the intimacy and/or mood conducive to a meal that might set a couple back $ 100 for«the experience.» Wouldn’t recommend it for a repeat, or visit to impress friends from out-of-town. The Hill, a much better bet.
