2 years after an unimpressive meal I returned to give this place another chance since they were promoting fried chicken on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It’s made fresh but what I got was obviously overcooled and completely dried out. It didn’t help that the teenage girls who handed me the order were dressed casually in shorts and t-shirts with no gloves, aprons, or pretense of professionalism.

Food was good. Chicken was juicy and ribs fell off the bone. Sauces leave a lot to be desired. Sides were ok but not hot. Service was super friendly.

Let me preface this with… this market is full of BBQ places so your BBQ restaurant needs to really stand out. I had the ribs. They were pretty good. Like pretty damn good. Then I tried the sauces. They were underwhelming… especially the mustard based one(i love a mustard based sauce). It was 90% mustard. The other three were just… meh. So all of that should probably equal a 3 – 3.5 star review except for the gnats. We fought multiple gnats at our table and witnessed the other three tables of people doing the same.

My first experience with PMBBQ was today because my customer specifically requested them for the Lunch & Learn I was giving at their office. I called PM last week and placed my catering order for 25 people which was to «include waters»… remember that because they didn’t. This was a meeting with a potential customer that I was trying to win their business and naturally impressions are everything. The good news is the food shows up on time, but the delivery guy tells me that the drinks were forgotten and are coming right behind him. Our meeting starts, people begin to eat and everyone is asking if the vendor(that’s me) forgot to order drinks. I apologize and announce that the waters are on their way. Then a whole 25 minutes later after most of the people have choked down their lunch without hydration the drinks finally arrive. I’m embarrassed, but I’m also irritated because the delivery guy didn’t even apologize for the delay and of course I was charged for everything, including a hefty delivery charge. I understand mistakes and I’m as forgiving as the next guy, but this was a really important meeting for me and PMBBQ didn’t show one ounce of concern for their error. Lucky for me a PMBBQ doesn’t cater all my meetings or my businesss would really suffer.

I have eaten here a few times and every time it’s great! Today I got to speak with the owner who was super nice and Terry working the front desk. She was a super sweetheart. I enjoyed talking with her while I waited for me food. I will be back again and again! Thanks you both for being so nice!

I ordered take out during the week, when I got home and opened everything up, the food was completely dried out(pulled pork and spoonbread). It was pretty much inedible. I called the manager and he said he made it himself that morning(I didn’t believe that due to how dried up it was). He made no offers to make it right, redo the order, nothing. It’s the last $ 30 I will spend on this place. I would not recommend.

Our experience here is all good. The service is topnotch, the resto is clean and of course the food is awesome. Another good find. Crispy ribs with coleslaw and corn bread. This combination is just amazing. I forgot how they call their corn bread, maybe it’s because of how good that piece of heavenly side dish is. The crispy ribs will surely surprise you. I enjoyed every single bite of it!

Love the food, avoid the pick up service. Good food if you walk in, but on several occasions have called in an order, either from next door or for pick up, and each time upon walking in, the order was dropped. Kitchen staff and waitresses were too busy openly flirting to worry about order.

Had been looking for a BBQ place in west county. Read good things about PM so tried it out for lunch. I had pulled pork, wife had ribs. Was very disappointed — pork was very dry and had no flavor. Tasted like it had been cooked in an oven(with no wood) in advance, at too high a temperature, then reheated. BBQ sauce was not good either — had to use hot sauce to add flavor. Bun was dry to the point of being inedible and sides were very mediocre. Maybe this place once was good, but not the case anymore. Bandanas, which is good but not great, is far better. Many better options, which is probably why the place was almost empty for lunch on a Saturday.

This is by far the most unexciting and boring BBQ I had in STL. I got the ribs and they were tasteless. Yes, they fell off the bones, but they didn’t taste anything. No smoky favor, dry, and no flavor. Their spicy BBQ sauce was also tasteless. Not even spicy. Cole slaw was mediocre, and baked beans were not good either. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich, and the bread was a soggy mess. The pulled pork was also dry. Most of the food we got were lukewarm. The only thing that tasted good was the mac n cheese. Maybe they had an off day??? You order at the counter and then sit down, and someone will bring the food to you. So that felt weird also. It’s not a fast food(food took awhile to come out) yet not a full-service either. They came by to clean up the dishes so we left some tips.

I have eaten at PM a lot, so I feel I can be fairly accurate in my rating. I love BBQ and like to try different places and I enjoy a variety of BBQ. I do think PM has some of the best brisket I have ever had. It’s usually really tasty and not dry. usually, because today it was luke warm and on the dry side, even though it had good flavor. I agree with some of the other reviews, this isn’t a great sandwich, with the big dry bun, but I just don’t eat the bread, so it avoids that problem. I am ALWAYS disappointed in the sides. They are just terrible. The only ones I find edible are the fries — plain and sweet potato. I have tried every other side on the menu and since you get two sides with your meal, I get fries and I rotate through the menu on the second item in the hopes of one of them actually being worth the effort. The spoon bread is just flavorless. It’s sort of like dried out cornbread. So if you are thinking that luscious corn casserole you just had at Thanksgiving, forget it! The bbq beans appear to be made from the 15 bean soup mix and are just flavorless. The«new menu item» macaroni salad I had today was dry as a bone. Where is the creamy dressing? The potatoes in the potato salad are hard and crunchy, and the macaroni and cheese was dried out. Some of the other items, I will put off to difference of opinion on why I don’t care for them. but overall, I find the sides a huge detractor. So — stick with the meat — buy lots, take it home and make your own sides!

Just ate at PMBBQ for the first time. I was excited to see that today’s special is the burnt ends – my favorite! The service was quick and the staff was friendly. However, that’s where the positivity ends… The burnt ends are served atop two slices of plain bread. They weren’t warm. But worst of all, they literally tastes like beef jerky. Burnt ends aren’t supposed to be «burnt» to the point of complete dehydration, but this was. It’s the first time that I couldn’t finish my meal at a BBQ restaurant because of the taste. My wife got the sliders(pork, brisket, and turkey). They weren’t horrible, but they had very little smoke flavor, and the sauces were horrible. Overall, I’m sorry to say that it was the worst BBQ I’ve ever had, but it gets two stars for the fast and friendly service.

Was pretty average BBQ I thought. My favorite BBQ in St. Louis personally is Bogart’s. PMBBQ wasn’t bad by any means. I got the brisket and it was pretty average. As sides I got the beans,(which were just ok as well) and the corn spoon bread… Now this was easily the highlight of my lunch. This stuff was great! The lady who took my order was very friendly and did a good job on recommending the corn spoon bread. The sweet tea was good too. I will definitely be back, just going to try pulled pork or ribs next visit, and sweet potato fries and slaw next as sides.

Great BBQ in the Chesterfield Valley. Cannot believe people go to Bandana’s when this place is less than a mile away. I’ve personally had the brisket, the pork, and the ribs. All are above average, well above average. Good sides too, Sweet potato fries among them. Nice, spacious, clean dining room and great staff. Have been back many times.

After touting PMBBQ as one of the better places around, I am removing a star. They just have not been able to be as consistent as they should to support the four-star rating. It is still a better than average place and being located so close to home, we will keep eating there. On our recent visit, I went with my stand-by brisket sandwich. The brisket had good flavor, enough smoke and the rub was clearly in evidence, providing both spice and salt. I still say the brisket runs a little to the dry side, probably from being pretty lean. It was not bad, but there is no way you can eat this as a sandwich on the enormous, dryish buns they use, without a lot of sauce or other lubricant. Since I don’t like to use sauce on barbecue, I lubricated it with a couple of mayo packets.(and I’m not even Canadian). Ms T definitely would hold with four stars for their chicken salad. It is made with their smoked chicken and a mayo dressing. She loves it and that will keep us going back once in a while. With all of my reviewing, I have not managed to influence them on the potato salad. The potatoes are undercooked, nearly crunchy and they are consistently so.(one consistency which I wish would change). The dressing is not sweet which is fine with me, but it is too thin, milky and it becomes grainy from the potatoes, which tells me they use russets not a red-waxy potato. So three things wrong with the PS(undercooked, runny dressing, wrong potato), one thing right(not sweet). The slaw is actually pretty well seasoned with regard to sweet/sour balance. It is not one of those bland, just sweet versions. They could back down on the smallage seed which tend to be a little bitter and I would like it better if they would chop the slaw finer. The shreds are too long and clumsy to eat. My hot link was still one of the great spicy G&W Bavarian Sausage Co products. Although on this day they rushed it. I was told I had to wait for it a bit because they were just taking them out of the smoker. This one was under-smoked. I also wondered if the sausages were not fresh when they went in. It was slightly sour and had a little of that yeasty taste that turning sausage gets.(Update — since that visit, I tried another Hot Link. It was not spoiled, thankfully but way undersmoked. they seem to have changed from their early days. Lately the sausages have been barely cooked.) I know these are really picky and specific comments, but they are the things that leads me to round down to three instead of up to four.

The ribs were ok. I really liked the fried pickles and the fried pepper cheese. I also had the tater with brisket. This is an order at the counter place. I tasted the wings too and they were good. Friendly staff.

PMBBQ is a welcome addition to Chesterfield Valley, on a recent trip to the outlet mall I was in need of lunch and wanted to avoid the typical choices so Unilocal directed me towards PMBBQ. I ordered the beef brisket which was very tasty, and the Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans for my sides. Overall the Mac & Cheese were a disappointment, I think I would had been happier with Kraft, after all it’s the cheesiest… lol. The baked beans were about the same and really lacked any real flavor. I was able to sample some of the Cheesy Potatoes and Sweet Potato fries, both of which were delicious. I think there was actually more cheese in the cheesy potatoes than my Mac & Cheese. Overall I think I just ordered the wrong sides, so I know next time I will skip the baked beans and mac & cheese. Prices were reasonable, and service was good. My only real issue was with the quality of the sides also be sure to listen carefully when they are calling names, they are not very loud and its possible that you might not hear your name being called. I struggled with my rating, I personally feel that PMBBQ deserves a 3.5, however I am not sure they are worthy of a 4.

Average. Not outstanding. But not bad. My favorite has been and still is the corn spoon bread. It has whole corn kernels, somewhat sweet, and delicious. Sometimes it’s a little dry, but even then it’s been good. My issue is it’s hard to go just for cornbread. Spicy dry run wings. Next to the corn spoon bread this was the best item. Wings are average sized. The was definitely spicy and tasty. A little addicting even. Honey bBQ wings. Nothing special. Similar to wings at a wing place that has many sauces. pretzel bites with queso dip. The dip was indeed dark me very thick. Not sure what was in it. Had a few dips of it and that was enough. Used ranch dressing after that. The pretzel bites were very good. Crispy outside. Soft inside. I wish I can just order the pretzel. Beef brisket sandwich. Brisket was just average. Ate a few pieces. That’s all. I would return everyday for the corn spoon bread and pretzels. Not so much for everything else.

Great food, cheap prices, great service, and it smells awesome inside. This place is really good for a lunchtime BBQ. Most everything is $ 8 and you get a lot of good with that. I got the crispy ribs to try something new. The make it in the style of wings, frying it to get it crispy. I think the consensus here is that the brisket is their best option though. Next time I’ve got to try a brisket sandwich. The hardest decision to make are the sides. The cheesy potatoes and spoonbread were both very very good. I would highly recommend it. Or get a heaping amount of sweet potato fries. They are pretty quick to get your food out to your table here and truly, for BBQ, it doesn’t get cheaper than this for quality food. I didn’t give 5 stars because with competition like Pappy’s in the area, it’s hard to beat that.
