The chicken salad is very good. If you don’t mind paying a LOT for it. Especially if you want a to-go container for it. It IS good but for the price, I’ll get steaks. That’s where anything positive stops for me. The place has a weird vibe — like it’s unfinished. Cases are empty. It was hyped up to have a grocery-type feel to it like The Smoke House but doesn’t even come CLOSE to that. My take is that Panera moved into Frontenac, the Sippery had to move. They moved into something that was a little too big for them to handle and the hours are horrible. Never any cars there in the mornings and they close so early. It’s kind of a disaster.

I have been to the Sippery twice. Both times I got the Brisket, hot, with a side of au jus. It is pretty darn delicious, and the sandwich is pretty big. I probably would have given 5 stars, but I feel it’s a little on the pricey side. They let me try samples of their chicken salad, and that’s pretty good, too. The regular one is just chicken, mayo, and celery. The low fat version is made with Greek yogurt instead of mayo, and also has chicken, celery, and tarragon. Pretty tasty. They also serve a wide variety of desserts. I was able to sample a couple, which were all delicious. Overall, I have been pleased with everything I’ve eaten there, and won’t hesitate to return or recommend to my friends.

We went there because of my husband’s former classmate works there. The French toast was wonderful. We will go again.

The Sippery is new to West County. Ms T bought a coupon to use with a friend some evening, but discovered they are not open in the evening so we decided to have lunch there. It is a sandwich shop, perhaps a sort of a deli, but not in a classic sense. I was just hungry for a dog, so ordered a frank with chile and some slaw on the side. Ms T had what is apparently«famous» chicken salad with some kind of garlic bread chips. My frank was about a two star offering, plenty of salt, but with exceedingly tough skin. I like a good natural casing frank, but the skin should snap. This one was overly tough. The bun was steamed to the point of liquidity so the combination of tough skin and soggy bun meant I ate it with knife and fork. However, my main objection was the $ 2 for no more than two tablespoons of chile which was not meant to be on a dog. It had kidney beans in it, horror of horrors as though that is an appropriate ingredient for chili dog sauce. My slaw was too heavily dressed with slightly sweetened mayonnaise. Way too much dressing. Ms T’s chicken salad was very simple but pretty good, dressed with just mayonnaise. I love it when restaurants self declare items as «famous». They did put quote marks around it on the sign, so I guess they mean it is not actually famous but rather«famous» wink-wink. Anyway, it was fresh, chunky white meat and had crunchy celery. She had it without bread and ate it with lettuce. It is a nice, bright place. Service is quick, counter style. The sandwiches we had were not remarkable, but it is OK for a quick bite, just avoid the frank. Based on this visit it is between two and three stars, but may be better with a broader sampling.
