First time eating here and the last time. There closing December 1. I ordered the beef hash and it was quite good and cheesy potatoes where great. I wish they weren’t closing I would have liked to go back and try something different.

Well… Was ready to make this a regular stop in, but 3 times in a row was disappointed. So many other places to choose from I will not be disappointed again, unfortunately will never go back

Miss C., her friend and I went for breakfast Saturday. We were seated pretty promptly. A difficulty is the desk you use for seating is the same desk you use for paying. It’s awkward. You don’t know who’s lined up for what. Miss C. got the traditional eggs benedict. Her friend got the western omelette, which is also known as the Denver omelette. She asked for American cheese rather than cheddar cheese. I got the cheese omelette. Miss C.‘s eggs benedict had one egg way over-cooked and one better cooked. Unfortunately, she started with the over-cooked one. No runny yolk. Lots of hollandaise. By that time, she was done. She got potatoes with it, requesting no cheese. They were bland. Hey, they’re potatoes. But they could have been punched up with SOMETHING. Miss C.‘s friend’s omelette was appropriately uninspired. And instead of incorporating the American cheese into the omelette, they simply put it on top of the omelette. She ate less than half. She also got the potatoes, no cheese. And there they were. Choices on toast, she opted for multigrain, which was toasted and served WITH butter, not buttered. So, you put the butter on after the toast has become cold. This is not a good breakfast option. My cheese omelette was fine. I opted for cheese on my potatoes, but it was simply additional calories and fat, no added flavor. I got the wheat toast, which was toasted appropriately, but, again. .. served WITH butter, not buttered while it was hot. So, the butter just sat there not soaking in or making a lovely wheat toast jamboree. Our server was friendly, but she offered a toast option to Miss C., which really was clearly inappropriate, since eggs benedict comes ON English muffins. Maybe she is new. But she needs to learn the menu. We got a hefty to-go vessel of two half-omelettes. I’ll fix them up at home with a little stuff. And we left all the toast there. But for restaurant-quality food, this doesn’t cut it. We left a cash tip at the table, and then I had to stand in a big line to pay the bill on my card. It was a mass of confusion. .. so many talking ladies. .. unclear where the line began or ended.

Unfortunately this place has gone downhill in terms of quality of food. The omelets are dry, as opposed to moist and fluffy. Their grilled stuff is barely seared. Ownership has changed and chefs have changed and it’s just confusing as to what this place is trying to be. So… I actually think this place is now below First Watch levels. What makes me more sad is that some of the service has been there forever and I wonder if they’ve noticed that the food isn’t good anymore… alas.

Really good food that is always served nice and hot. The wait staff is friendly and very accommodating. I always seem to get an omelette(lox or cheese) or a burger with homemade potato chips(that come in a big cone basket enough to share). Mom loves their homemade soups and that they actually serve it hot! The place is kept clean and has nice bathrooms– never a sticky table that you so commonly run into at breakfast places.

Great breakfast spot for me. Omelettes are large, the homemade toast excellent, coffee fine. Service is usually good to excellent. the mabience is wonderful, great décor and plates, mugs etc. Sam’s ham and egss is a winner too.

About a week ago I was looking for a new breakfast place to try, I like to get an early start to my day and I can not do that with out some breakfast. I have been here with my family once or twice before, but could not remember how I liked it. When I walked in around 9:30am I was seated immediately. It was not very crowded and I liked being seated so quickly. Also the waitress was a very nice lady very friendly which made a good start to the morning While looking over the menu it nothing major stood out to me aside from some Mexican themed foods. Although an interesting touch, it was not what I was interested in for breakfast. Finally I decided on the French Toast with hash browns as a side. I am a pretty basic breakfast guy and I wanted something good that would fill me up. When I got the French Toast I was not disappointed or impressed. It was an alright meal that did the job. The toast was a little cool but the hash browns were pretty good. I did notice the omelet the man across from me ordered looked very good, I wish I would have tried that instead. I was very pleased with the service. The employees were very polite and social. I will probably give it another try and shoot for the omelet next time

I’m there twice a month for breakfast and I wish we would go somewhere else. Not only is it a little on the expensive side, if Sam doesn’t wait on you, count on very slow, very bad service. We got there at 7 when they open and were seated right away. I had to push two tables together for our party because the waitress left after taking my drink order and didn’t ask how many were in our party today. She took everyone else’s drink order and brought the drinks. At 7:30 she came back to take our order. I had to ask for a drink refill 3 or 4 times before getting our food. The food finally came at 8. Mine was cold, not room temperature, actually cold like it had been sitting out for quite a while. The toast was so overcooked that someone at our table offered me a saw to cut through it and I could barely bite into it. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone and I wish I didn’t have to go back. It’s not my choice.

Horrible Horrible Horrible! Our first and only experience was horrible when we there their food was decent but nothing special. But the thing that really irritated me was the service. When my family and I went for a nice Sunday breakfast we ordered two entrees and wanted to share an entrée with our 5 year old son. When I asked for a plate they denied me one and asked for an extra fee I asked to talk to the chef and he came with a HUGEATTITUDE and sad what do you think this restaurant is a Mcdonalds and walked back in. Long story short if you like decent food but horrible policies and a hot headed chef then this place is for you.

Top omelet joint in St. Louis! If you can make it into Sunrise for breakfast(or even dinner as they serve breakfast all day) you have to try an omelet. I personally love the Italian omelet which I order every time. It is a 3 eggs that have always been cooked fluffy and perfect with tomatoes and mushrooms served on a bed of fresh spinach. Then they top it off with marinara and melted provel cheese… AMAZING! I also add Italian Sausage, which really puts it over the top. My fiancé get the Veggie Omelet and then add bacon. It comes loaded with fresh vegetables with a little cheese melted on top as well. Both meals come with roasted potatoes that are cover in melted cheese… sooo good. We have tried other things as well… pancakes, french toast, etc and everything has always been fresh and well prepared. Service is also just fine, even when they are busy. This is not a corporate chain, so you can’t expect 1 server for each table. They seem to get by with a smaller staff by incorporating good teamwork. We have also been in for dinner and their new BBQ menu is great. The smoker is in house so everything is fresh and they don’t play around with the portions. I would have my rehearsal dinner here if my fiancé would let me :)

I was skeptical… I mean it’s located in a strip mall, right? I had the Lox breakfast, a first for me, and really liked it. Unfortunately, the bagel wasn’t toasted and I had to ask for the(included) fruit cup. Now that I think about it, our server was pretty much MIA for about 10 minutes after he dumped off some waters, and it wasn’t busy. It was«meh.» I won’t rush back.

We try a lot of breakfast places and to be honest, for the things we typically order, there is not a lot that they can do to distinguish themselves, unless we find home style Mexican. Sunrise did not distinguish themselves. It is just the typical chain fare like First Watch. They do have lox and bagels that some friends go for, but it is not a deli by any means. They serve small complementary cinnamon rolls as an appetizer, but I live in a house with Ms T and it is hard to forget that she makes cinnamon rolls from scratch. The Sunrise rolls were out of a tube. I had a Spanish Dawn omelet. It was just OK. At least the cheese was not processed. The cheese supposedly included habanero jack, but there was no hint of the habanero. The whole thing needed salt. The chorizo was beef which I thought was odd and was over seasoned with cumin. Other than too much cumin, it was all rather boring. I don’t recall what Ms T ordered, it was not that memorable and she said the same and it needed salt. I ordered a side of sausage patties and she also made sausage her choice. All four patties were considerably overcooked and were very dry and as a result, were somewhat tough. Look, it is not bad but First Watch is closer and pretty much the same(better sausage). I will keep looking for Mexican breakfast and go to neither place. If you live close by, I’m sure it is OK.

Not exactly what we were looking for… We wanted booze and breakfast food, but we couldn’t decide on which place to try. Sunrise was closest and we were starving. It was hella busy, which was ok, but the hostess was a kind of a bitch. I had to bust out the mom voice to get her to stop and take our names and let us know how long the wait was. Our server was also very brief. I was most annoyed when she threw our coffees at us without cream and bolted off, not to be seen for 5 – 10 minutes. Everyone was busting ass and it made for a tense meal. Oh, my fragile nerves! I was on a mission to try eggs Benedict. A first! I ordered the gourmet vegetarian. It was good, but I’m a little persnickety about the way vegetables are cooked in breakfast food. They overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the mainstays of the meal, which I didn’t like. Too mushroomy, too oniony. Zac got a scramble that had a TON of stuff in it and he felt the same way. It was just too overwhelmed. And we are purists. The ambiance is more family/mom & pop breakfast, hurry in after church and hurry home for naps. We were looking for leisure and this was the WRONG place for that. That aside, the food was fresh and good and quick. Afterward, we hit the Dierberg’s next door for mimosa supplies for a little drink at home and a nap of our own.

The occasion was a 12th birthday celebration with family. Having newly moved to the area, we chose to have Sunday brunch at the Sun-Rise Café based on several Unilocal reviews. This proved to be an unfortunate choice early on. The host staff were inattentive and so casually dressed that we had trouble telling the staff from the customers. We waited about 30 minutes, a long but reasonable time for Sunday brunch. When we were sat, our table had been cleared of the dishes, but not been wiped down. The staff did not notice this, however, and we were left to clean it ourselves. This was the first of several cleanliness-related issues. The second of which was a lipstick-stained mug, followed by several rounds of dirty silverware. One spoon in particular was so dirty that it literally stuck to the napkin. Our server was abrupt and also inattentive. After taking our order, she did not come back to our table until we were ready for the check. They also, strangely, would not give us extra plates in order for us to share our various entrees. The bread, for instance, came in a basket. When we asked for a small side-plate to put it on we were told«You can just put it on your other plate.» Leading us to wonder if there was some sort of dishware shortage, and if so, why they didn’t just tell us that. Hmmm. The food itself was not bad. It was under-seasoned and not particularly imaginative… but not bad. By that point it hardly mattered. This was one of those«maybe years from now we’ll laugh about it» experiences, which was definitely not the way we intended to celebrate a 12th birthday.

Right as we sat down, they brought out a couple of mini cinnamon rolls, which was a nice touch. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich and it was actually pretty good. My uncle’s Italian omelette looked amazing, though I didn’t try it. Their coffee was very tasty. Overall, it seems like a good Mom & Pop type of breakfast place.

Very awesome breakfast place! I ended up here with my father-in-law on the strength of the good Unilocal reviews. We both had trouble deciding between the ham steak and the eggs benedict, so one of us got the ham, and one got the eggs benedict. Excellent choices! Portions aren’t huge(which is actually rather nice). It’s just enough for a meal. The service was also very good, very friendly.

[In my best Ralph Wiggam voice] My French toast puffs taste like funnel cakes! Seriously. Fried French toast. 4 pieces. The perfect shared«breakfast appetizer.» Did you know there was such a thing? I didn’t either, but I’m glad to have met it. Caramel Latte. When they say it’s served in an extra large cup, believe it, sister. A big ol’ mug of pretty good frou-frou coffee topped with whipped cream is a very special treat for me and while this wasn’t the best caramel latte ever, it did hit the spot and keep me jittery for the rest of the day. The biscuits and gravy was solid, although I do prefer more sausage in my gravy. It was nice and peppery, though, and the biscuits were very good. Justin miraculously finished his ginormous veggie omelet AND his breakfast potatoes, and he didn’t share one bit. Not that I remember, at least… I was focused on my B&G and that bigger-than-my-head coffee drink. I like this place. It’s laid back, casual, comfortable… I sort of felt like our server wanted us to move a little more quickly(with ordering, at least), but otherwise, the service was just fine. I don’t know that I’ll be trekking out to Chesterfield for breakfast very often(unless SOMEone invites us again *cough cough*wink*), but if I’m ever in the mood for some funnel cake-ish French toast puffs and a caffeine jolt to last the day, Sunrise Café is on the top of my list.

The food is great. The kid’s french toast puffs are the yummiest thing on the menu! Why don’t they have an adult version of this? Oh, and they make their own guacamole — delicious! The service is less than great. We’ve waited a loooooonnnnnnnggggg time for our breakfast when there were 5 other people in there. Oh and the waitresses don’t go out of their way to be friendly, happy, or anything else courteous. Good thing I don’t let grumpy people keep me from eating(or I’m sure I’d be emaciated by now)! I go here a lot since it’s like 2 miles from my house, so I can say I’ve tried a lot on their menu and none of it has tasted bad. The owner comes out and talks to you and that’s a plus too. At least he cares. It’s more expensive than First Watch, but it’s not a chain.
