Writing this review pains me. Had to wait forever until greeted by a server. They do not make any of the drinks on their cocktail menu.(Sorry Bar Rescue fans). The food was pretty mediocre bar food. Place is looking a little shabby as the wall paper is coming off parts of the walls. Only pros were their house beer and a nice sized patio with cornhole. Would not go back.

Went there for dinner(around 5ish) on a Saturday night — a few months ago. We heard that they had awesome burgers and pizza. Inside is pretty cozy — definitely a «Cheers» atmosphere. If I were still in the drinking scene, I could make this a regular watering hole. But, I’m not. ;) Service was welcoming, fast and awesome — definitely didn’t matter that we were just there to catch a bite to eat. We split soft pretzels, the bah bah black sheep, the firehouse pizza and some parmesan garlic fries. Star of the show — the burger! A perfect, delicious burger — love the bacon and runny egg. The pizza was just not good — the crust was way too fluffy. Sauce was okay and not enough of it. Mediocre cheese amount. The husband and I ate one piece and left the rest. Our focus was the burger! If you want a fantastic burger, in a casual place, this is the place to get it!

We were heading down to Cincinnati for a Reds game and decided to check this place out. It was a Sunday at 5pm, but the small bar was filled(seats about 12) so we grabbed a table. I ordered a drink off of the specials menu sitting on the table. The waitress had to read the ingredients because she couldn’t remember how it was made. It was strong! Good, but very strong. I am not sure if it’s supposed to be that strong all the time or was made incorrectly. My second drink was from the menu, it was called an Apple Pie. It was so good! I would have had 2 of those if I had known. My boyfriend and I ordered the Guinness burger to share, the menu stated that it came with the Flag fries. However, when we received our bill, we were charged an extra dollar for the flag fries. The food was amazing! The burger was cooked perfectly and the flavors were a great combo. The flag fries were great as well, they are fried zucchini, carrots, and potatoes, but the coating is super yummy! The place was remodeled by Jon Taffer’s Bar Rescue back in 2012, it looks like they haven’t been keeping up with the maintenance of it. We saw one table that looked like they had saved the previous bar stools and were using them. Some of the wallpaper was ripped and the women’s bathroom needs some TLC. All in all, we had a good experience and would recommend the place to anyone traveling through if they want to have an awesome burger!

Bartender and service were excellent. The bacon cheeseburger and steak fries were delicious, and served quickly.

This was a tough one! We were greeted with a sing«seat yourself» so we did. And waited and waited and waited for about 15 min till a waitress straight out of a crack ally. Her eyes were rolling back in her head. BUT once the other staff seen how drugged she was quickly took over our table. Food was the saving grace! Perfection in taste and presentation. Neat place. A little confusing with three floors and no hostess. We stepped outside and they had a very nice fire going. One last thing. There was a pack of boys ages 8 – 14 running around non stop around the whole building. Some dumb parents figured they lay on the bar and get all drunk while the kids watched, played and ran and screamed. The simple fact the fist waitress was such a mess we will not return.

1 star because twice now my fiancé and I have tried to have a meal from this restaurant and twice they closed the kitchen. The Second time the bartender waiting 30 minutes before telling us «yeah the kitchen is closed». Not likely giving a third chance.

I love The Public House! It’s a great place to hang out with GREAT food and drinks and always super accommodating and friendly staff! Their menu is also diverse with very reasonable prices and I haven’t had anything I didn’t love yet!

Regular at Public House but looking for a new place. They just have no control of the volume in here. You want to sit, drink and talk to friends but you can’t hear each other. OMG the bands come into the venue and turn the volume up so loud the tables vibrate. It’s just too small a footprint for that. The bar does nothing about it. Honestly it’s not bad in the summer as they have a nice outdoor area but I’m looking for a new place to hang out till Spring rolls around.

My second time to this place. It was again a Friday night. It was a bit more busy. We got there at 10PM, we were hoping to have the pizza and they were no longer serving meals. They were only doing apps. So we tried the garlic fries-not great-they were cold and not good. The Potato skins were good like before. I was disappointed in this place. Service was slow and we couldn’t get a glass of water. Not sure I will go back, maybe during the day to try a burger but overall disappointing.

The bartender today is very rude and very short(obviously not talking about height). She was very rude to one of the people I came with, there are only three of us here and there was only one or two people at the bar, so she wasn’t just overwhelmed or anything like that. I wish could be rude to my customers when I serve or bartend, we all do, but I stick it out and«fake it ’till you make it» like everyone else, she has no excuse to be rude. My burger was ordered medium well, no onions. It came out well done with onions and they left off the pickles. I just ate the burger well done because it’s not that big of a deal. The food is great here but the service could be better.

Got the potato skins as an appetizer. They were what you would expect. Had The Duke sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches I have had in a while. Not the classiest place in town, but give it a shot.

Nice neighborhood place with great taste in talent. Probably we ordered the wrong thing– they are famous for their burgers– but neither of us were very impressed with the Irish Kabob. It’s a chicken sandwich with peppers, onion, cabbage, carrots and special sauce, served in a giant, doughy pita. The idea is actually good and i don’t fault most of the execution either. It’s just that the chicken they use is so patently awful. Dry, tasteless and probably cooked in a microwave, from the taste of it. It put me off a meal I was prepared to devour. Good thing the fries were good.

Since employees feel the need to accuse me of lying and calling my review crappy, downgrade to one star. Good job.

It’s 42 degrees out & the locals have the back door open. The waitress was great but now seems distracted by regulars. Not a great beer selection but food was good. Neighborhood feels a little sketchy but bar itself isn’t bad. The regulars run the place.

Last night was my first time eating at the Public House since their name change(and appearance on bar rescue) a few years ago. I’m sad to say that the experience was pretty underwhelming. The firehouse burger and parmesan cheese fries weren’t too bad. I would order them again if it were from another restaurant. What would keep me from returning to PH would be the nearly 30 min wait time on our food(you’re a burger joint… this shouldn’t be happening). As well as nearly every song being played over their loudspeakers skipping. Pretty annoying to say the least.

Saw this place on Bar Rescue. Knew they had issues. Thought it’d be the same. I was wrong. Came to meet a friend of mine. This place is WAY out of my way. I expected it to be not so good because the reviews on Unilocal!weren’t that good and the Bar Rescue thing. Much better than star rating on here. They paid attention and have improved. The service was quick and friendly. Our server could have been a bit more engaging but she was busy. The food is not what I expect from a bar. This is restaurant food. Those of you who are bar hounds know what I mean. The menu at a bar is just there to soak up the suds. The fair here is far better than that. Had the Billy Goat and Garlic Cheese Fries. Best ham sandwich I’ve ever had out. Good ham. Tender. Pretzel bun and good cheese. The honey mustard dipping sauce was the perfect accompaniment. Whoever thought this dish out knew what they were doing. The fries were really good and who doesn’t like garlic and cheese? Side of marinara that was pretty good. Not a stand alone sauce that will knock your socks off but as a dipper for the fries, more than adequate. Great parking. Great service. Great pricing. The patio is a wonderful setting for a nice meal and a bucket of beers with friends which happens to be what they provide. i know what the rep is but give this place a chance to win you over. You’ll be glad you did.

I’ve never seen bar rescue but I can tell you that the burgers here are the biggest and best in town. The onion rings are nothing short of AMAZING. The quesadillas and pizzas are very good and you MUST try the flag fries(veggie fries). The staff are very nice for the most part and brothers Billy and John are great in the kitchen. My only wish would be for more drink specials and more beers on tap

My husband and I were excited to go to The Public House after we saw it’s transformation on Bar Rescue. We drove all the way from Columbus to visit! Upon walking in, a horrible, sewage-like smell hits you hard. Obviously the building is old, but surely something can be done about that? I was immediately a little sick to my stomach. We were there on a Sunday around 5pm, one other couple was dining at a table. The tables were all bistro height with stools. Every table we tried was dangerously wobbly. My stool felt like it was going to collapse. The service was just OK… nothing spectacular. My husband ordered the Duke sandwich(delicious but messy), and I had the ham and swiss sandwich(forget the name) which was also tasty. Wallpaper and paint was peeling in places, just looks a little old already. Glad we went, but won’t make the drive down again!

Great patio for chilling and having a good conversation with friends. The prices are fine and average for westside bars. The service can be slow, so hopefully this will get ironed out as time passes. I am not sure if the downstairs area is still used on the weekends as a bumping dance area. It reminds me of a frat basement, but hey, sometimes that’s what you’re in the mood for. The redesign leaves a weird taste in my mouth as the sheep wallpaper make little sense and rather slipshod bathroom make me want to wait until I get home.(fix the walls and actually spruce it up please) TV’s are easily viewed from any seat, so you’ll have no trouble watching a game. As far as Cheviot bars go, this is a little above average, but still has some room for improvement. While I will probably revisit, it is not my first choice by a long shot. I am not sure if PH wants to portray a classier vibe or something, but it needs to work on some fundamentals before it can become the best of the west. *Oh, and maybe have one or two healthy items on the menu. Not everyone eats fried greasy food.
