Academy of St Benedict the African

This is an unorganized, understaffed, and underfunded catholic school. My son is in the 2^nd grade and he has had three teachers this year alone! Every teacher that comes to this school leaves. The principal is a liar…
I just came from meeting with the principle at my son’s school regarding this post. The principal did not argue with me regarding the statement that the school is «unorganized, understaffed, and underfunded», but she did have a problem with me stating that she is a liar! Therefore, according to her definition she isn’t a liar! However, at the time of the school tour in the summer of 2013 my husband and I was told one thing, but as of March 2014 those things have changed.
The administration is horrible at communicating with parents. If you are a working family you will never be able to complete any school activities or participate in the school fundraisers because admin organizes everything at 9am or 11am during the day. Well, my husband and I are removing our son after this year because if he is going to have another new teacher next year then hopefully it’s only one teacher and not three!!! The Archdiocese needs to get this school under control or simply close it down!
I still hold strong to my honest evaluation of this school. This is my honest opinion and feedback.

As part of a grant agency I was happy to spend over a week at the end of the 2012 school year in observing ASBA (the Academy of Saint Benedict the African) Laflin Campus.
The staff is wonderful, and have attained high levels of certification, licensing and education degrees. The students were just as great. The facility was surprisingly immaculate (being it was the end of the school year) very spacious and technologically state-​of-​the-​art.
I was very pleased with what I observed, especially in treatment and education of the kids. This indeed seems to be a wonderful centerpiece of education and of the neighborhood.

Students come to school knowing that they are in a safe environment, where they are cared for and also the teachers and the students follow the Gospel message of Jesus Christ every day, and the teachers encourage the students to do the same thing, its a great school with great teachers and staff. Any families who have kids in Academy of St. Benedict the African are lucky to receive a great education and be a successful person in the future.
