I was so looking forward to some rib tips. I went on Mother’s Day. The line was to the door. This is mostly due to slow employees I came to learn. About 25 minutes to take orders from the 8 people ahead of me. Another 20 waiting and it was disgusting. This is how bad it was. We went to Jewel and got the grilled chicken and everyone wanted that and not the ribs. Believe the 1 star reviews. I didn’t. Seriously the rib tips from Pete’s Market or Marianos would be way better and cheaper. Are there any decent rib spots in Bronzeville?

Alice has some of the best bbq in town and their sauce is amazing. The only downfall is if you go on a Friday or Saturday night you will be waiting awhile, but it’s well worth it.

They cheat you out of meat! It’s a total rip off. Fries galore at the bottom with nothing but grease and sauce. Then most of the meat is bones, in which sometimes the meat is tough. Rough cashiers with no customer service experience. If you like greasy fries, mediocre sauce and bones be my guest. The small order is really mini and the large order is small. They play too much! Go else where THEY’RERIPPINGFOLKSOFFINTHEHOOD! SMH!

The Ribs were really good, had good favor. I ordered a slaw of ribs it was to few and bunch of Fries with BBQ sauce, at the bottom it was more fries than ribs. When I got the box to Cali this what I found. I am trying another place when I come back it August to Chicago.

Slow, Slow, Slow it appears that the lady that wear the eye glasses has a hearing problem and all the work are on muscle relaxers. If you call in your order you still have wait almost 20 twenty-five minutes. No No No heat in the restaurant on a day whereas it’s 20 degrees outside unbelievable!!! Everyone in the lobby was complaining.

Worst fish sandwiches I ever had. The two sandwiches was prepared on two different buns. I don’t normally eat in grease pits. Only visited once never returned.

I just finished my meal and I can’t say it was a good one. First off it didn’t take long to receive food. Now for review– the bbq was very tough and some pieces were crunchy which in my opinion means it was recooked probably from yesterday. The sauce wasn’t bad but my fries were drowned in it. Thank god I only bought a mini-tip. I’m sure I won’t be returning.

TIP: CASHONLY. The service is less than extraordinary. They’re slow, talk over you, and calling in is hardly helpful in getting them to make your food faster. It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing store front either HOWEVER the barbecue is delicious. I’ve had the ribs and the wings and both did not disappoint. They put the right amount of sauce all over everything(if you like your food slathered in sauce as I do). I recommend this place if you’re looking for some home style BBQ.

This place is by far the best rib joint I’ve had in years. I always get a slab«naked»(no sauce). My husband loves their hot links. We have yet to get a bad order from here. You’ve tried the rest now try the best. Outside of making your own this is it for ME!

The sauce was tasty enough, but the rib tips were tough and the portion sizes were not comparable to prices which were to high. The homemade sides were delicious.

I love this place! Everything is excellent minus the slow service but that’s only cuz the cooks are working all that magic on our food. The prices are reasonable and the bbq sauce is finger lickin good. Daaaang just thinking bout those ribs gives me a hard on. Although this place is in the hood it sho is worth gettin a bullet to the head for those juicy scrumptious ribs. My only wish is to one day meet Alice and give her all the love back she’s given me!

The best rib tips in Chicago! I always order the mini-tip and it is just enough. If you don’t eat much you could possibly have some for later. The people aren’t too friendly but they aren’t too rude either. I go in, pay my money, and pick up my food. There is a long wait of about 20 minutes but you can’t rush greatness. When that ask you what sauce, tell them mixed(hot &BBQ).

Horrible greasy and tough meat. Most of the people that said this barbecue is good haven’t had real barbecue before. The rib tips were tough and the links were okay. I will never eat here again. Leon’s and Famous Dave’s is way better and cheaper.

I must say THATTHESERVIES is VERYBAD!!! Don’t call in because most times they won’t start your food until you get there, Also most of the times when you call you’ll be put on hold sooooo long that you will hang up. The wait time is long also, BUTTHEFOODISGREAT! OMGGREAT! It is worth the wait. The food is always hot and they give you a LOT! Alice sauce is very good. I may be reaching but it is one of Chicago’s best!!!

Good food. A bit pricey and less than desirable service. Try the rib tips with mild sauce. The chicken wings are good too.

This place is a hole-in-the-wall, the owner just simply refuses to re-invest into his own business but none of that matters with your first bite… I literally live up the street and around the corner(as the old folks say) and not one week passes where I don’t eat something from Alice’s. The tips are TITS! The links are TITS! Get your fries seperate though, otherwise they’ll be covered with meat and sauce and you’ll wind up eating them last because they’re buried under all that goodness. Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Sunday afternoons-you’ll be waiting QUITE some time so don’t say no one warned you. The afternoon crew makes everything too PERFECT, but the thing is I prefer the night crew because I like my tips a lil charred and they do it best. Weird, I know but I likes what I likes.

Living on the South Side, I have heard of real BBQ and we have to order from alot of BBQ joints who offer steak and lemonade deals. Most often we are disappointed with the crap sauce that is slathered on bits of processed meat and sold as food. But hey, it’s our fault for not being nearer to the quality BBQ places in Chicago. This place is home cooking. Coming from the beach we didn’t want to be bothered with starting a fire and actually having to slave over a grill to get some good eats. This place was on the way home and we Unilocaled it. Favorable reviews despite the area. We went for it. As with anything that isn’t hyped up in other affluent neighborhoods by transplants to the area because it is all they know, you should do well to explore the city for the genuine home cooked meal types of places that exemplify the exact diversity that is dually celebrated and despised in this great city. So, the menu isn’t really that intuitive. But take the recommendations of other Unilocalers and order mixed, or spicy sauce with your choice of the meat. The fries are rather generic, but the sauces make them wonderful. The meat is so soft and tender that only the seared parts of it was semi-hard. My order of rib tips had a great woody, smokey flavor and it was topped with(I dunno why, someone explain this) two pieces of white bread. I’m thinking some heartier bread would complement the dish, but this is BBQ — damn good BBQ at that. Other Unilocalers are right, there are shady loiterers about, and not all of them are male. Kind of interesting experience. The innards of the place have an institutional feel to them with a thick piece of glass/plastic separating staff from customers. Might as well have brought a check to cash it feels like one of those places. Service is good, a tad slow, and they do have quite a following streaming in constantly. Wanted to try the turkey legs, but there weren’t any left. Prices are a bit more than I wanted to pay, but hey, this stuff takes time and effort to make, exactly what I didn’t want to invest after a beautiful day out on the beach. Mind your p’s and q’s, raise your voice(it’s not impolite here) to order across the little revolving door and enjoy your take out. There is no seating. Will definitely go back for some more.
