Niki and Fernando look my size 44 Lanvin wedding gown down to a 36, performing all sorts of heroic tailoring magic to preserve the gown’s unique construction and lines in the process. They employed a bevy of couture tricks to ensure a lovely silhouette on my wedding day – stiffening pleats with boning, adding hidden snaps to ensure proper drape of my sash, re-​working the waist stay. At Alva Graciano, they have the talent, tools, and attention to detail (not to mention patience!) required to beautifully alter even the most challenging of designer gowns.
In addition to reworking my Lanvin number, they also repaired my grandmother’s 1950s wedding gown, including re-​aligning a dozen tiers of tulle and lace in the skirt.
