The pizza is AWESOME!!! Loved it, not sure exactly what it is that gives it its distinct taste but it’s surprisingly REALLY good! found out that the place lost business because it’s been having trouble finding good reliable employees — the 2 that’ve been there a while barely speak English. I saw their kitchen and they keep it clean and that eith the great tasting pizza makes this one of my top 3 – 4 pizza places.

Total drug front. Pizza sits for days and is always doughy. Been in several times and the workers are always sitting down and eating. Not helpful and horrible food. Any restaurant that shows me pictures of the food they are serving isn’t for Chicago. Close your doors please.

Ordered through Grub Hub because the price was right — so I got a variety of things. The best thing about this place is that the delivery was on time and they doubled most of my order, however, the food is absolutely terrible. I threw out 75% of the food I ordered. I ordered a beef combo, took two bites and threw it out, disgusting, and i’m a huge beef combo fan. Pizza: I’ve had better frozen pizza Mozza sticks — i ate these, but obviously frozen sticks fried Fries — soggy, gross Chicken sticks — fried, but not cooked all the way, pink in the middle, I was scared to eat any more. The end reslut was that I filled up on mozzarella sticks and felt sick the rest of the night. I’m into shitty food, but this place is serving sickening food.

Did that really just happen? So I get my order from Barrys, kinda slow, but I wouldn’t complain about the delivery time. I’m excited about my chocolate cake, deep dish pizza and fountain drink. I sit down with my order and there is no fountain drink. I call Barry(or his employee, I suppose) and he tells me they dont have Pepsi in store. So I tell him he can send a different drink back, just let me know what they have. He tells me the drivers are too busy and he will refund my drink money via GrubHub. I tell him good customer service would probably be more than the cost of the drink for messing up my order, but hey, do what you gotta do. I get about half way through my pizza. The toppings are decent, but too much uncooked bread for me, and I pull out my fork for my chocolate cake. I pull out two pieces of cake: carrot and cheese. No chocolate. I call Barry(or his employee) back and he tells me he put my cake in the bag. I tell him I ordered chocolate and I got carrot, and he said(I swear its the truth) they didn’t have chocolate but carrot was the same price. I hate to be a jerk — but I dont like carrot cake, and it doesnt matter if they were the same price because I wouldn’t pay any price for carrot cake. I ask him to refund my money for the chocolate cake, he says he will, he doesn’t… so I have dollar store carrot cake for sale for $ 1.99 if anyone is interested.

First order from these folks using Eat24. Portions were good and the food had good flavor. The eggplant parm could have used more eggplant and less pasta but overall I would order from them again. I’m not sure what the many negative reviews are referring to. Maybe there is new management now?

This place has gone down the shitter. I don’t know what has happened; maybe I do: They are now advertising an Indian dish. I got two slices of stuffed from their carousel. The pizza was inedible, and I love any pizza. The crust was literally rock hard. They have jumped the shark. They don’t give a crap about their quality. No one in their right mind would sell that pizza I ate. It’s sad, really.

So the food here is beyond disgusting. I ordered from Grubhub, I hoped it would be good but I didnt read the reviews and I paid for it. My bf ordered nachos, the cheese was burned and the chips were old, greasy, and undercooked. I ordered the shrimp basket, the shrimp was burned and the french fries were old, greasy, and undercooked. We threw the food out. I am really happy to have ordered from GrubHub because my meal was totally refunded.

It amazes me that this place is still in business… They must be living in the kitchen or something… Walked in to get a slice because it was pouring rain outside. Waited at the counter for a couple of minutes, and no one is there. Dining room is also empty. Some guy who looks like a dirty construction worker came out after a while and sold me my slice of sausage pizza and a canned soft drink for $ 4. Not a bad deal. That slice though seemed like it had been sitting there since morning. Crust hard as a rock, and the temp was barely lukewarm. No flavor whatsoever. The place looks like its on its last leg. Broken door glass in front, couple of dirty tables in the empty dining room, Jerry Springer on the TV, soda machine out of order. Just give up already. Sell it to someone who knows how to cook and run a restaurant, and put something nice in here! On a side note: It looks like they are going to have another go at an ice cream shop in the adjacent space. Barrys spot opened one there a couple of years ago, and it only lasted about a month. The space has been vacant since then. Now that we are heading into winter, they are going to open it yet again. Bright idea…

I’ve been going to this place since 2005. I like their Pizza and their Rib tips are delicious! They are sometime filling, but overall the food is good. Even though I had better Pizza than theirs, I go their because it’s just around the corner of my apartment.

I wish I would have read the reviews first as well. My order was completely wrong and when I called they offered me a $ 5 credit. My bill with delivery was $ 20. I was starving so I ate the french fries that were in the bag and the appetizer which was mediocre. I said that $ 5 wasn’t acceptable and he yelled at me and said that I ate the food already which is when I said I had only eaten the fries and app. The rest of it sat on my counter untouched to the tune of $ 12.50. I would stay far away from this place. If they can’t keep the proper items in stock, which I see has happened to other people as well, they must not have very good credit with the local food suppliers. Please save your hard earned money for a place who actually cares about their food and service.

I wish Unilocal had ZEROSTARS!!!(Because this is what this restaurant deserves!) –Wrong order –Rude people –Disgusting food –Bad experience! I ordered the sampler appetizer with my boyfriend and we were supposed to get calamari, mozzarella sticks and fried ravioli, instead we got onion rings, fried zucchini sticks, and fried mushrooms! Then when I called to tell them that they got my order wrong, they gave me the worst attitude and said, «well we don’t have any of that.» Why would a place just replace stuff on my order with out my consent? A bad one, that’s who!!!(I THANKBARRYFORTHAT!) They said they would send us their driver back with a free pound of shrimp. The guy I called was so rude, but the rudest one was the driver. When he got here, my order was already paid since I ordered through GrubHub and he gave me the dirtiest look, and shook his head as he left my door step. I told him not to shake his head at me and to tell me why he was doing that. He said, «no tip?» in the thickest Mexican accent I have ever heard! I started to get pissed and I told him that the tip was included in the order. He disagreed with me, and left huffing and puffing. He the same driver came back with my free pound of shrimp, and he stomped away like a little baby, complaining about a tip that I DIDGIVEHIM! Oh, and don’t get me started on the food!!! One word can sum that up!(x10) DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING!

I wish I could give them no stars, because they SUCK!!! Me and my girlfriend ordered here through Grub Hub, and thought they were going to be pretty good. Boy were we wrong, we ordered the sampler appetizer and didn’t get any of the appetizers that were described in the order. So we called and not only were they so rude about it they said that they didn’t have any of those appetizers, so they decided to give us ones we didn’t order!!! They decided to give us a free shrimp appetizer for the mistake, and this was the nastiest thing I have ever seen I picked one shrimp up and it was like a waterfall of grease falling from it. I hate this restaurant more than any other place I have ever gone too. WORSTFOOD, WORSTSERVICE, just over all terrible people. AVOID at all costs or you will be sorry!

Blah. My roommate ordered from here through grubhub. I wished I had warned her about checking out the Unilocal reviews before ordering since I personally tend not to order from places with less than 3 stars. Places like Barry are exactly why I don’t order from places with less than 3 stars! Our entire order was wrong: The wrong shrimp dinner-got the cheaper, smaller dinner vs. the larger, more expensive order. Scam! The wrong appetizers-if we wanted nasty fried mushrooms, we would have ordered nasty fired mushrooms. We wanted the zucchini! The wrong dessert-instead of the delicious, homemade chocolate cake my roomie thought she’d be getting, she got choco-chip cheese cake instead. Now, one would think that this isn’t too bad since the cake was $ 2 and the cheesecake was $ 3, but this was not homemade cheesecake. No, this was one of these prepackaged, usually prefrozen Eli single serve cheesecake slices that Jewel typically sells for about $ 1 – 1.50. Scam! The meal was subpar to boot-greasy shrimps, cheap, undercooked fries of the sort you may buy from the frozen foods section at a Dollar Tree, disgusting coleslaw. No one touched the mushrooms, not even the dog! Hmm, maybe it was a good thing we didn’t get the full pound that we had ordered… My roommate has been soundly reprimanded and now knows to check the Unilocal reviews before ordering from grubhub. Trust me, there IS a reason why this place only has 2.5 stars!

I get veg pan pizzas on Mondays, no cheese. We pick them up. They’re great. I look forward to them all week. If there’s a problem, they fix it. It’s a very busy night for them, and the workers are still friendly. We don’t use those assy delivery services, so I have no complaints.

Oi vey. A friend and I ordered from this place off of Grub Hub. The food took over an hour to arrive and when it did there were several problems. One thing we ordered was fish. We specified for the fish to be as lightly grilled as possible and instead got a barely recognizable, burned piece brick of what was supposed to be salmon. We also tried to order cheesecake but instead got cookies. Apparently they were out of cheesecake, so instead of calling to let us know, they gave us two store-bought cookies. Finally, the driver forgot our fries, so we had to call back to receive our soggy food that was sitting in our the delivery guy’s car. I’m giving two stars instead of one because I haven’t tried their pizza so maybe they suck at everything other than that, and the delivery guy seemed genuinely apologetic about the delay in service and forgotten food.

Alright we know it has changed hands several times over the years, but I’m still a snob when it comes to deep dish pizza. I don’t like Uno’s, Lou Malnati’s, Gior Danos… because I feel like Chicago pizza has to be like Barry’s. Of course that’s my huge bias. I literally grew up on the stuff and so it holds a very sentimental place in my heart as my parents also would frequent this place long ago when they were dating. I have always had great service from them, but maybe because I always order so much. They delivered to me even though I was out of their range.(Awesome!) The Fiesta Pizza is my favorite. What is not to like about the egg dough, loads of cheese that is next to the bread so they meld so perfectly together, jalapeño, meat, olives, onions… It still tastes great — although it’s a shade of its former glory. Monday is ½ off pizza. I literally order 3 large pizzas(I won’t get the 18 inch one as I didn’t know how big it was!) and with the rest, I foil each of the pieces up and put them in the freezer. Now that’s what I call my money’s worth. I also recommend their rib tips, SPOT pizza(pick 4 ingredients if I remember correctly — italian sausage, onions, pepper and broccoli for me), onion & broccoli pizza. Man, I remember driving more than an hour just for this pizza and taking all their $ 1 frozen slices. I hope this place never closes, then I’d have to learn how to recreate their pizza to get my pizza fix. Now I’m craving pizza… my freezer supply’s getting low, I think I’ll resupply this coming Monday. I recently ordered a couple of pizzas for a party and they were a hit. I called it in way beforehand for pick-up so everything went beautifully.

Sorry Sorry Sorry
I opened my restaurant February 1970 and sold it April 1995. Yes, there have been several unsuccessful owners since then. They obviously didn't know how to run a business.
I built my restaurant on service and plain good food. All 100% fresh made in house.

Pizza is alright. Service is not so great. I ordered a stuffed Taco pizza — I just recently moved back from CA and used to order their Taco pizza all the time because it was aweeesome. And taco pizza is pretty much my favorite pizza in the whole world. Anyway, I’ve been on a diet and decided I was going to cheat this weekend — so you can imagine my excitement when I noticed that Barry’s now makes a STUFFED taco pizza… Well, I placed my order via GrubHub and agreed to pick up because I had to make a stop in the area anyways. About 10 minutes after I ordered, I got an email that my order would be ready about 25mins later than the originally estimated time. That was okay, I could kill time. I went to get my pizza and it was like a ghost town in there… still unsure why the pick up got delayed, as the person who answers the phones was eating and reading a newspaper when I walked in. Whatever… no biggy. I got my pizza and went home. When I opened the box — I noticed my pizza was not my Taco pizza. It had jalapenos, mushrooms, and olives… none of which were part of the Taco pizza. I called and explained what I ordered, and the person who answered the phone said, «No, sir, we ring it up as Fiesta, but that is your Taco pizza,» so I said, «well, it doesn’t match the description at all…» so, she checked with the cook and surely, he said he must’ve made the wrong pizza and agreed to make me a new one. I then explained that I live about 15mins north in an area with terrible parking and asked if they could deliver it. She said that they would, but they’d have to charge me a delivery fee. You screw up and then charge me extra? Whatever. I asked them to refund the whole order so I could just bring my business elsewhere. It was then that they offered to send out the new one. One hour and 10 mins later, my new pizza arrived. That’s right. From the time that I ordered the pizza to the time that I had the right pizza, about 2 and a half hours had passed. And this is the funny part: the pizza was so greasy and gross, that in the time that it took me to walk from my front gate to the front door of my apartment, the bottom of the box gave out and I lost 1⁄3 of the pizza. Gross. I didn’t even bother to call this one in. So, I ate a half of slice and gagged when I bit into the soggy chips and tossed the whole pizza out. $ 25 down the drain. This place used to be good, not sure what happened!

Horrible service. Story: I ordered via Foodler a grilled chicken sandwich on garlic bread with melted provolone and hot peppers. I got a grilled chicken sandwich on regular bread with some imitation nacho cheese. I called and spoke with a girl, who was friendly, and stated that the order was wrong. I was told that she would have to wait to see a paper that the delivery person had. She said that she could give a store credit of the sandwich for 6 dollars, my sandwich cost more than that. 30 minutes pass by and no call like I was told. I called and she stated that the sandwich was on its way. Another 30 minutes goes by and the delivery man comes. He asked for the other sandwich back. Some nerve. Making a paying customer wait for so long and acting like they’re just trying to catch a free sandwich. With your shady practices I’m afraid to eat this new one. This place has horrible customer service.

Not exactly going to win any awards, but they have cheap food, quick delivery, and it always hits the spot. Plus, who can resist a $ 7LARGE cheese pizza that actually IS large? Word of advice, save money and skip the drinks. $ 3 for a 2 liter. Other than that, no complaints. Oh and Asia is a doll who always makes us smile =)

Deal Alert: ½ Price Pizza Mondays!!! I ordered a medium deep dish spinach… for a grand total for $ 9.37! If that’s not a deal, I don’t know what is. The pizza, literally, lasted me a full week! Barry’s Spot pizza is EXCELLENT. The deep dish style here isn’t too doughy, has JUST the right amount of tomato sauce on top, AND has a light hint of garlic. The crust is, by far, my favorite part — as it’s a little sweet, similiar to pie crust maybe? Ohh, sooo good! I called to order on my way home from work, popped in 35 minutes later and was presented with a piping hot, freshly made work of art. Barry’s beats Gino’s in my book! Great gem in Edgewater!
