So the sign above the entrance to Beefee states «World’s Best Italian Beef, Guaranteed.» Man, that’s a bold, ballsy statement, I thought to myself! I wonder if they can back that up…
Well, I’m not sure if Beefee’s beef is the «world’s best», but it is really damn good. On par with Johnnies. I’m sure this place would be way more popular if it was in a neighborhood that didn’t necessitate a revolving food door and bulletproof glass, but hey, every neighborhood deserves a great Italian Beef joint!

My father worked at Johnnie’s Beef as a teenager nearly 40 years ago, and I grew up eating there regularly. As is the case I have long held a bias against all other italian beef places. That being said, Beefee is as good or better than Johnnie’s. I had a spicy juicy beef sandwich and it was delicious with just the right level of heat with great meat on fresh bread. If it is at all convenient to get to, I highly recommend you make the trip.
