Came here for date night with the partner in crime for Restaurant Week on Saturday night. The hostess was very friendly and greeted us in French, her smile was sincere and full of life! We were sat in a room behind the main dining area when you walk in. The only other people in the room was a large party at the back of the room, about a table of 8 or 10 women. I am pretty sure it was a congratulations on your baby party. They were loud. Very loud. Of course, the acoustics in the room amplified their entire conversation. As we were seated and the server was gracious and the busser was paying attention(water and bread promptly), we saw that they were about to have a cake they brought in.(I figured they were on dessert so the noise couldn’t last much longer). My date and I actually had to yell to one another to speak. That was really obnoxious. My thoughts are that if a big group of loud champagned up women are in a small room, couples on an intimate date should be seated elsewhere. Now for the food. I opted to additionally order the cheese plate, so my $ 33 dinner turned into $ 44. The cheese was tasty, but not worth $ 11 additional. One triangle slice of fine cheddar and a small block of a creamy decadent mild blue cheese. A few pieces of crostini and a tiny spoonful of small matchstick green apples, moistened walnuts. The chicken liver pâtè was a pretty dish. Accompanied with cornichon, hot dijon mustard, toasted hazelnut halves and arugula, also more crostini. When making myself a crostiniwich, I noticed that the mustard(mind you I dabbed it on) overpowers the palate, and the light pâtè couldn’t compete. Luckily the sweetness from the pickle balances the flavors a little better. But, whoa, holy mustard! We also had the mussels(see my video), hot and steamy!!! Tasty, decently sized, I think the taste overall with the broth was certainly more like a Julia Childs dish. We noticed that our server politely asked if we were ready for our main dish rather than clearing our plates and plopping the dishes down. We both ordered the beef bourguignon. Delivered nice and hot, tender like a stew should be. The pasta itself lacked flavor, and I didn’t eat much of it. The chef also made an appearance asking how the meal was. I like to see the chef engaging the guests. It’s a nice touch, and I know how hard it is, because I’m a chef too. Unfortuntely the end of the meal saddened me. As a professional pastry chef, I’m pretty picky when it comes to desserts. Having worked for a French pastry chef for over a year, and learning the hard way(lol), we were presented with a pear clafouti. Ugh, tasteless, rubbery. Not enough sugar. Gelatinized like flan consistency baked in a throwaway aluminum cup(that only okay if you are baking something off premises like a catering event. The imprint wrinkles on the edges was… The caramel soufflé left something to be desired. It was more like oeufs a la neige.(snow eggs) It way more way like meringue floating in crème anglaise with some overcooked caramel onto and sliced toasted almonds. A true soufflé is a baked egg-based dish made with egg yolks and beaten egg whites(meringue) combined with various other ingredients for flavoring. The word soufflé means«to breathe» or «to puff». There was no puff, just a poorly executed dessert with meringue that had not been folded in properly, and served cold. Hmmm…

I went here for Chicago’s restaurant week. The deal was $ 33 for a three course meal that featured recipes from the famous Julia Child. Overall? I love the soup and gnocchi they served, but the dessert(which looked like a tiny soufflé) had a strange egg-like texture that didn’t agree with me. Luckily, they had some fabulous Chardonnay to wash it down.

The place is super fancy. Their restaurant week was not impressive at all. The food very simple and normal and the portions are extremely small. One bite of meat in a huge plate. Instead of plate size pay attention to the portion size. Their mussel was very good tho. Overall too expensive for what you get, not worth it at all.

We went for restaurant week. The food was very good. They packed us in and we were sitting shoulder to shoulder with other guests. Service was slow and inconsistent. Was really loud, noisy and open. The valet was slow, only one guy for a busier than normal Saturday night.

As part of restaurant week in Chicago my daughter and I went here for dinner to try out the Julia Child themed menu. All of the recipes on the Prix Fixe menu are from her book Mastering the Art of French Cooking. The ambience is wonderful, very cozy and quaint. The service however was very slow. Slow. We ordered the Parmentier Soup; Mussels; Bouillabaisse; Gnocchi; Ile Flottante and Clafouti aux Poires. The only items I can highly recommend are the Gnocchi and the Ile Flottante. To be fair here, we aren’t sure if the food was a chef issue or a Julia Child issue. We had gone in with high expectations and left feeling disappointed.

came here for restaurant week, the entire menu is based on Julia child’s book — Mastering the Art of French Cooking i think all dishes are well presented and tasted good, it also provide us an opportunity to see how it is done professionally before we can go home and make our own version by following the recipe in the book the envinroment in the resturant is good, it is packed on a saturday afternoon, even though they are very busy, the waitress still made sure that we are well taken care of

I always thought chicken breast is dry and tasteless until I had it at Bistronomic. So tender, juicy, and packed with flavor!

My fiancé and I went here Friday night with another couple for Restaurant Week. Overall we had a really nice time. Our reservation was for 9:15, but the place was insanely packed. Not sure if overbooking was an issue or what, but we didn’t get seated until 10. So, I was a little bugged but not a huge deal. They were very nice and did apologize. Food was fantastic. We all did the RW menu. Some highlights: The mussels appetizer and chicken liver mousse were amazing. Packed with flavor, and really good portions. For main courses we all did either the bouillabaisse or beef bourguignon. The bouillabaisse was delicious. The scallop and fish were amazing and fresh. However, it had a very strong fennel flavor. Not a bad thing, but just be aware. I felt it slightly overpowered the dish. The beef was awesome, I mean, you will not be disappointed there. For dessert we all had the ile flottante. Perfect. Nuff said. Get this, thank me later. Overall I highly recommend. I ding one star because I feel like with such a long wait past our reservation they should have done something. Even something minor would have gone a long way. But, great service, excellent food, and delicious RW menu. Oh, and the cheese plate option? Yum! But one for a couple is plenty, believe me.

I came here with a group of 5 girl friends as my second stop on my restaurant week tour of restaurants I have been dying to try. I loved that I was greeted in French upon arrival. I was the second to last to arrive but all the other girls have been seated already. I started off with a glass of sparkling rose before making decisions on my food for the night. Food was great! 4⁄5 of us did the $ 33 restaurant menu. I started off the mussels(I was between the mussels and leek soup but the waitress advised on the mussels and that was a great choice. 2 of the girls got the leek soup and said it was amazing as well). For the entrée I got the old fashioned chicken and finished off with the soufflé for dessert). I enjoyed the chicken but I think I mentally pictured something else so I was a bit surprised when I was presented the meal, but overall it was very good. I loved the dessert, it was perfect, so much flavor and yumminess. I really enjoyed the restaurant week and the food choices that were presented. The service was good and the restaurant itself had a great ambiance. I will definitely return to have dinner here.

Love this spot! Despite being super busy during Restaurant Week, I snagged a spot at the bar and had a lovely time. The steak frites are not to be missed! I will definitely be back. #NomNom

A group of us went to Bistronomic on a Sunday for their bottomless mimosa brunch. This is hands down now one of our top 5 favorite brunch spots in the city! The food was outstanding, I got the Martial’s Brioche Club Sandwich and added goat cheese, it was phenomenal. There definitely could have been more goat cheese(they kind of skimped out), but the sandwich itself was good, and the fries were even better. From our group we also had eggs benedict(our friend loved it), Flat Iron Steak & Two Farm Eggs, and Brioche French Toast(which were said to be a bit small), but all the food was equally delicious. The bottomless mimosa brunch for $ 15 is the way to go. We had an ongoing game to see who could actually reach the bottom of their glass before our waiter came to refill(.we all lost). He was quick to refill our glasses the entire time, and was a great waiter all together(I believe his name was Jeremy). All in all we will definitely be coming back to Bistronomic!

So delicious. Unlimited mimosas(unfortunately only for an hour and a half), and a delicious quiche with potatoes for brunch. A little pricy, but we had good service, and we closed down the restaurant at brunch. I would go back.

My boyfriend and I visited Chicago for our birthdays and we had brunch here during our stay. The bottomless mimosas were great and the special was a delicious mushroom omelette that was just the right amount of hearty, savory and cheesy for the amount of champagne I had! I would love to visit this place again.

This place was unbelievable, truly fantastic and my favorite French restaurant in the city hands down. The ambiance was really pretty, very nice and comfortable, the chef/owner walks around and talks to his guests and he’s very sweet. Now to the good stuff… The food, I didn’t want it to end lol I got the chicken liver mouse and it practically melted in my mouth, it was so flavorful I half tempted to order another order of it, it’s a must when you dine here. Then I got the duck breast, cooked to perfection, one of the best experiences I’ve had in a while from the impeccable service to the beautiful ambiance and the flawless food, fantastic wine selection, I simply can not wait to come back here. I’m getting the rack of lamb next time for sure! Great job guys!

The food: 4⁄5. We came for brunch and weren’t disappointed. The menu is not terribly creative, but you get your go to brunch food such as eggs benedict, french toast, omelettes, croque madame etc. Minus one star for being out of grapefruit juice and only having whole milk. Otherwise the food was great. The service: 5⁄5. The service was very attentive and our server stopped by for a friendly chat, which was nice. Also the chef came out and ask how we liked the food. Overall: 4.5÷5 It’s a solid option for brunch.

I did quite a bit of homework before making a reservation here. Their menu looked good, with a nice variety and had the option for smaller plates. Always fun when you want to sample more than one dish. The décor and atmosphere was cozy and we were seated immediately. The ravioli of the day sounded fantastic so we decided to order it as an appetizer, as it was considered a medium sized tasting. The stuffing was shrimp/crab or shrimp/lobster, I can’t recall. That’s not a surprise as whatever came between the sheets of pasta was a pulverized goo. It had some seafood flavor in it, but you could not tell what in the world it was. If you have quality seafood would you mix it to death in a food processor. I think not. The accompanying vegetables and sauce seemed odd as a pairing with the pasta. Nothing worked for me here. Our mains consisted of a confit of duck and seared scallops. The duck was well prepared, but it was the smallest leg/thigh combo I have ever seen. The chayote squash remoulade sounded intriguing on paper, but was not successful in my opinion with the duck. I like something with a little acid to cut the richness of the meat/skin, like a nice purple cabbage with apples and cider. The creamy mayo like base just did not add anything to the plate. It detracted from it. My $ 15 glass of Pinot Noir arrived warm. Seriously? My dining companion, thank goodness, enjoyed her dish as this was my treat. The seared diver scallops with tomato, cucumber, curry quinoa, and spice yogurt vinaigrette, hit the spot and she was pleased with her choice. There are too many dining options in Chicago for me to do a repeat performance here. I’m certainly glad others have enjoyed it.
