The breakfast burrito was on point here. I definitely recommend adding the braised pork shoulder — melt in your mouth good. I love that when you ask for a mimosa, they ask you which one. The apple cinnamon pancakes were ridiculous. I have a massive sweet tooth and love apples, but it was over the top for me(weird, I usually like this sort of thing). Also dig the patio, now that the weather is pretty sweet. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

I wanted to be more impressed with Feast. I SHOULD have been. But our experience there was so disappointing. First let me say the good. The food was AMAZING. I had the chicken curry quesadilla. I have never put something more spectacular in my mouth. Wow. I would order this all the time if I could. I ordered it because it sounded exotic, and it was great. It wasn’t huge, but I appreciated that about it. It was appropriately sized for lunch, had delicious mango salsa on it, and I couldn’t even finish it, but don’t expect some crazy Cheesecake Factory portion. It was reasonably sized. I liked that. I felt like it had dignity. But the wait service was TERRIBLE. And I’m not going to judge the restaurant on one server, but honestly? It took almost 20 minutes to get the guy to come over and even ask what we wanted, when it was obvious we were done with our menus, even longer than normal to get the food, and then we waited more than a half hour to get the check. Then when we realized he wasn’t bringing it on his own, we had to keep waving and waving(which I hate doing, I think it’s demeaning, but it was literally the only way to get this guy’s attention, and one of us stood next to the table as if we were leaving for the latter half of the twenty minutes) we eventually went up to HIM to ask for the check. And we asked him to split it, and he brushed us off without even asking how we wanted it split(we were one couple, and one single person). He was incredibly rude, and then it took him another(at least) 10 minutes after that to get back to us, telling us the manager had to come do it, but then came back because he couldn’t even which of us had what to eat. There were only three of us, and we all had water to drink, no appetizers. He was our waiter, and couldn’t remember what entrees we ordered? Never in my life have I left a dollar tip before, but with a waiter who never checked on us to see how the food was, and the only drink and other service we got from the(extremely polite and attentive) busboys, the waiter really really soured the service for us. His claim was that he was also the bartender, so what could we expect from him? Sorry, that’s no excuse. Feast, if you decide that you want a surly bartender serving your customers their food, especially this guy,(we ate on Good Friday, around 12:30 or 1), you need to hire more waitstaff with GOOD attitudes. This was unacceptable. I would go back for the food, but I’m going to your other location. And if I get service like that there? I’m not going back again.

Every time I’ve come here I have been amazed at how cozy and un-pretentious the atmosphere of the restaurant is, and I always want to come back again and introduce it to my friends. The portions are hearty and amazing, they offer a full-fledged gluten-free menu, the bar is whimsical and full of amazing choices; and the location is exquisite. It’s very rare that you find a place that treats you like you’re family or friends, most Chicago restaurants err on the windy side(har, har, har) however at Feast, the service is as amazing as the food. I’m taking my friend Cami here tomorrow night and I’m so excited for her to try it! My recommendations? The tortilla soup is to DIE for, it comes in a cup that fills you up but doesn’t mar your entrée. Their sweet potato fries are also addicting. Everything is good, I can’t recommend just one thing, it’s all amazing. Go!

Recently, I’ve gotten re-hooked on Feast brunch — the crab eggs benedict, while it sounds risky — is freaking FANTASTIC. I’m not kidding. Jalapeño, cornbread, crabcake and hollandaise? If you don’t like this, I don’t know if I’ll be able to like you. Also — the lox and bagels is a great dish, love the arugula idea. Definitely give Feast a try if you’re in the area.

My boyfriend and I met my cousin and her boyfriend here for brunch on a Sunday morning. They were pretty darn busy, but we had a reservation. Anywhere that accepts brunch reservations gets points in my book, since nothing sucks more than waiting 45 minutes on a cold morning when you’re hungry and desperately in need of caffeine. We strolled in, past the cozy fire(nice touch) and found our table. My cousin and I got mimosas, which made me extremely happy. All of our drinks(and I think our food too) took forever to show up, which was disappointing, but boy was I happy to see that sparkling, boozy orange juice! My boyfriend’s orange juice, like the juice in our mimosas, was fresh squeezed, as it should be. When you pay that much for a glass, it better be the real stuff. I think the mimosas were $ 8. I got the huevos rancheros, which were $ 12. They were the absolute perfect breakfast for me — savory, runny eggs, smoky pork and beans, rich broth, cheese on top. It was a very well-prepared dish, with strong, excellent flavors. I’m still thinking about that tender pork and the egg yolks mixing in with all the other ingredients! It was filling, but fresh. I didn’t try anybody else’s food, but my dining companions loved the grits in particular! It’s not a cheap brunch, but it’s an excellently cooked and unique brunch. I think it’s worth laying down a few extra bucks for something so special. Now if only our server had just moved a little more quickly — it was painful to watch the other plates going by for so long! But I’d definitely go back the next time I feel like having a fancy morning in the Gold Coast!

Nettes Restaurant mit Frühstück bis zum Dinner. Typisch amerikanisches Essen, gut zubereitet. 2 Minuten von der Michigan Avenue entfernt. Ist zu empfehlen

I’ve been to feast a number of times and enjoyed it each time. They have a fantastic mediterranean salad and tortilla soup. The best item on the menu however has to be the macaroni and cheese which has roasted tomatoes, smoked bacon, parmesan, cream and toasted breadcrumbs. Amazingly delicious. Hands down one of the best plates of mac and cheese that I have ever had.

Half of wine bottles on Monday and Tuesday nights. So if you are staying on the Mag Mile and need a good drink, this place is worth a stop. Wine flights as well. Sold…

Went to Feast a few weeks ago for lunch. I was on my lunch break… so I didn’t have a great amount of time. I approached the hostess and asked to be seated outside. She smiled and said«follow me.» Seriously… if she walked any slower we would have been going backwards. I waited at my table patiently… no water was brought or place settings… then waited at my table impatiently… finally a bus boy brings my water and place settings. I told him I was ready to order and eventually my server came by. It didn’t appear busy, so I’m not sure of why I had to wait so long… anyway, I placed my order and it came out in a fair amount of time. Food was good. I ordered a caprice sandwich and sweet potato fries. I finished my lunch and again had to wait for my bill. Bottom line… food is good, not great, but good. Service was awful!!!

I dined at Feast last September and have enjoyed their speedy delivery service. Inside, Feast is like an upscale Bar Louie. Upscale because no TVs. Bar Louie because it has a HUGE bar that takes up the majority of the space. The food was decent in person. A long moment long for their delivery… Perhaps it’s because M lives nearby, but it’s Jimmy John fast. And the delivery people ride bikes, which is just pretty cool in my opinion. M orders skirt steak religiously(and she’s a die hard food snob). The only time she’s been disappointed is today when the steak was cooked more than she liked. I was generally pleased with my guacamole and quesadillas. M asked me is my quesadillas were Middle Eastern. At first I was taken aback… Then I realized it was curry. Yup! Curry in quesadillas was a yummy addition. The guacamole was okay, but the chips were the disappointment. They were kinda greasy, but the perfect size for dipping. Eh. Since I was at M’s, I had the choice of using her chips or the Feast chips. Inert on the couch, I my lazy side defaulted to Feast. My favorite part about Feast is their takeout containers. They’re plastic, like regular food storage containers. In fact, that’s why I like them. I like to use them again and again for left overs. Maybe that’s the green, bike riding recycling hippie in me.

After two more visits over the last year, I’ll give Feast it’s fourth star back. They seem to have their act together now, and the menu is terrific. Excellent huevos rancheros, good shrimp and grits, good on the coffee refills. It’s back to where I’d recommend it.(As I have, and they loved it too.)

Our visit here was totally unplanned – we were a few blocks away at Ashkenaz Jewish Deli because my friend was looking for hamantashen but they were all sold out, so we decided to head over to Feast for lunch… random, I know. I agree with other reviewers that this location is far better than their Bucktown location. Nice ambiance, great little fireplace, small bar area. The food is amazingly fresh and tasty. We shared a turkey wrap(which came with a heaping pile of some really awesome sweet potato fries) and the spinach salad. The spinach salad had chicken, pears, pecans, cranberries… all very fresh and delicious. I also had their soup special of the day, cream of parsnip, a little oily from the vanilla oil, good but not for everyone. Service was sufficient. No wait for a table since it was way past weekend brunch time. They do serve breakfast until 3 pm. And they have great outdoor seating in the summertime.

Ambience: upscale, tries to be elegant but is a bit snobby Food: limited brunch menu but at the same time a diverse selection. I’m not sure what all the rage about the potatoes is… they are large cut which takes away from flavor and they’re pretty dry. Loved the croissant prosciutto egg sandwich… perfect blend of flavors! Price: brunch a little pricey but large portions! Given the vast brunch selection in Chicago, I probably wouldn’t return to Feast, but don’t regret trying it.

It was Friday on X-mas eve around 11:30 am, the usual time of day restaurants serving breakfast switch to their lunch menus. We shouldn’t have been surprised that we ran into a wall of people waiting to get into the Original House of Pancakes near Viagra Triangle. So we were forced to try plans B or C. Headed towards Tiempo Café, we decided to peek into Feast since it was on the way. A few weeks earlier, we ultimately ended up at Fred’s for Sunday brunch because Feast was too dark, noisy and crammed. Fred’s on the other hand was quiet, had plenty of natural light and was 6 floors up away from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast. But we felt lucky this time because Feast was serving brunch on a weekday and only had a few tables occupied. It was hard to see how beautiful the dining room was when we attempted to eat here previously. There’s a gorgeous fireplace and canvas art hanging on the vividly-coloured walls. The dark wood tables and chairs are swanky and this was almost the vibe we were looking for. Let’s talk about the food in a sec. I think there we a few birthdays being celebrated in another room as we heard happy birthday being sung a couple time by a number of voices This may explain the painfully slow service we received after our orders were taken and the food came to the table. The service was friendly and we saw plenty of bussers walking around taking care of the basics, but our server was perhaps on Mars, not to be seen for very long stretches of time. My cup of tasty and bold decaf black coffee soon sat empty for most of my meal, but I guess that was little to complain about considering that the couple that sat nearby stared at our plates with nothing at all to eat for a long time. Now as mentioned in other reviews here, to Feast’s credit their menu is very affordable especially since it’s situated right in the heart of Gold Coast opulence. Our bill for two omelettes with hash browns, a cup of coffee and a smoothie was only $ 32. While my friend selected the garbage omelete, I opted to build my own with egg whites(only $ 1 to substitute), chicken sausage, goat cheese and roasted red peppers. My friend was not allowed to make any changes to her garbage omelette and that seems a bit queer as it does not seem to contain any exotic ingredients or obviously require laborious preparation that would justify the restriction. With that being said, the food was definitely gourmet. The hash browns seem to be seasoned with tasty Mexican spices and the chunks of potato varying in size were cooked to perfection. They were the highlight of my plate and that’s certainly not suggesting that the omelete itself was a slouch. But again, the service was friendly but unacceptably slow since there were only a few tables occupied. We were very pleased with the food and it is this reason that I would consider giving them another try.

«Feast» is a deceptive word choice for a restaurant like this. If it’s used as a verb, it lumps itself in the branding pantheon with company names like«I-Go.» If it’s used as a noun, it’s a setup for pretension and possibly unmet expectations. It also never truly defines what your restaurant is about. Foreign cuisine places always have cutesy names translated into whatever language they are; the English are great at making the stupidest word pairings(Pig and Whistle… Cat and Custard). But«Feast»? Well, we’re not quite sure what they serve from the outside, though this section of the Gold Coast is certainly nouveau riche enough to attract the well-heeled locals. The interiors look like they were borrowed from Room and Board; a little bit of the old and new to make it feel refined. I have a feeling this place looks totally different in daylight. During the evening, the lighting makes this place glow. The food was fine. I wouldn’t say it was a grand meal, but definitely satisfying. Their butternut squash ravioli was a tad overwhelmed by a dark sauce which overpowered the butternut taste. The tortellini soup was miles ahead in both presentation and flavor than my dining companion’s regrettably bland green salad. The only thing that was lacking was the service. Friendly but sluggish. I dread these kind of eateries that have water glasses the size of thimbles, and the paltry amount which should be water is chocked full of ice. Water, water… oh, water boy… I see the waiter. Oh. He brought the check; nevermind.

This is officially my brunch spot when guests are in town. I always have a hard time choosing between sweet or savory dishes for breakfast so I like going with someone else so that we can get one of each and share! I came with my mom when she visited in September. It’s gotta be good because my picky Asian mom doesn’t normally like«American» food, but she enjoyed her eggs benedict and my oatmeal pancakes. Both are delicious. Portions were substantial, and we had tons of leftovers. Unlike a lot of breakfast food, it was still yummy the next day. A couple of weeks ago I came with my boyfriend. We got the garbage omelet and challah french toast. AWESOME. I can’t decide if I like the french toast or pancakes more. Oh yeah, the feast potatoes are to die for. Being a coffee snob, I have to say the coffee was not good at all especially considering the price. It was burnt and tasted bitter, and a lot of milk didn’t help much. I don’t want free refills if the coffee tastes yucky. Surprisingly there was never a wait for brunch even though they appeared to be super busy both times.

A-OK really sums this up. Solid lunch place with a nice patio, but nothing that really sets it apart from other places. Although be warned that you could be sitting next to people with strollers on the patio… and NOT with kids. Yes that is right folks –the stroller at the table next to us had two mini-dogs in them(of course accompanied by the right doggies sweaters and accessories). Who does that?! I felt bad for the puppies.
Anyway as for the food, it was good and came out quick. My favorit was the free appetizer(thank you ZipCar) of the margherita pizza. Very well done. The grilled chicken sandwich was average, but nothing special. Our server was polite and patient as I was«that» customer who custom-made the sandwich. I’d like to try their brunch. Overall, I thought their portions and prices were reasonable. I’d go back if I was in the area, but this isn’t a destination place.

Unimpressed. Our table wasn’t greeted until I walked up to the host stand and asked if our server knew he had a table. The food was forgettable. The wine was pricey. Blah blah blah… not even worth writing a review, but I did anyway.

The interior is pretty fancy pants and the the lighting is pretty romantical. Didn’t expect that. My friends got the bbq chicken pizza & the panko crusted chicken. They didn’t seem to enjoy what they ordered. which made me feel bad. :x .cause I loooooooooooooved my butternut squash ravioli w/spiced walnuts, crispy sage leaves, brown butter + goat cheese and balsamic syrup! mMm :) ! Buttttt. it was a little pricier than I thought? This place is right next to the Goddess & Grocer. which I’ll def check out next time I’m around this area!

Was totally worth the last minute decision to eat out on a week night. I met my friend for a middle of the week dinner here and it was great! The wine was excellent and the appetizers were amazing. I had the crabcakes and I thought that they were made just right. For my entrée I had the goat cheese raviolli and the portion was large enough for left overs… I enjoyed every bite. We also had dessert since it was a pre-fixed menu option that night and I couldn’t have asked for a better deal. The service was quick and the there was no lingering wait in between courses.

This should have been a 4 star review for sure. After all– the ambiance is lovely(love the fireplaces), the service was spot on and very friendly, and the food was excellent. So where did Feast fall down? I thought the chef was being a bit of a prima donna on the night we were there as he was not allowing«special orders». Really? This is a restaurant with a kitchen right? What place doesn’t allow for substitutions in these days of diets and food plans? Answer: Feast, I guess. We picked Feast, because a friend of mine is on a food plan rich in vegetables and low fat proteins. Knowing this, we look for places that have plenty of fresh vegetables(usually found on the salad side of the menu) that most places are willing to steam for her. Feast with it’s spinach salad, asparagus sides, etc should have been a perfect choice. Well– that only works if the chef is willing to do something a little out of the ordinary. Suffice it to say– we were told that he could not steam any vegetables for her. The server said they were under new management and sometimes substitutions could not be made. We were willing to pay but he would not take the spinach which we had just eaten on the spinach salad and steam it for her which is what she really wanted. After a couple of consultations with the kitchen– they did find some broccoli that they did finally steam but I really don’t understand the hassle. And I felt sorry for our server who was trying to do her best to accommodate the request. As for me, my food was great. I had a goat cheese stuffed chicken breast served on a bed of sauteed spinach(even more irritating as they obviously are cooking spinach) and I was able to substitute rice in for the gnocchi that normally comes with it. Delicious! This Feast location is lovely inside. Two fireplaces, an ornamental ceiling in one of the dining areas, and glass tiled bathrooms. The large over sized lighting fixtures are dimmed at night– making everyone look good. While this location feels more like a diner in the daylight– it transforms itself at night into a cozy restaurant which I really liked. Service was spot on. Patient, accommodating, and ready with a suggestion at the merest request all done with a smile on her face. Parking is available on the street or there is a garage around the corner on Chestnut. Dinner with salad, entrée and a drink ran about $ 35 per person which was quite reasonable given the quantity of food. As a long time customer of the Feast out in Wicker Park, I was happy to see this new location open up last year. I love the varied menu of tasty food, the contemporary ambiance and the attentive service. Now if only the chef would be more accommodating to requests, they might just get another star in my book. And my friend might take this off of her«never again» list.
