Once upon a time I was an Urban Oasis girl. But I was poor. So I moved north and could no longer afford a swanky spa for my squishing needs. While riding the 151 up to my new Edgewater digs, I spotted Bodywork Studio. With signs in the window offering massages for OMG cheapz. I have been a client ever since. In 1999 or 2000(can’t recall) it was just the owner, John. It’s grown to several therapists and a receptionist, but it is still in the same comfy spot with the same very considerate style and best of all, the same great value. Several years later, I’ve moved twice, each time further away, but I keep going back. They understand my quirks. I cannot stand the sound of running water, so they are courteous to put me where I cannot hear the water dispenser through the door. I’m a big girl in certain areas and they always remember to provide towels to support my shoulders so I don’t wind up squished. They remember that my ankle is bum and my hip has a trigger point and I come out feeling lovely. I’ve been to several of their therapists — every one that I’ve tried has been very responsive and pleasant. My favorite is Jeremy, if he’s there, he’s fantastic. This is a very basic studio. The rooms are pleasant and simple — this is no Urban Oasis but if you’re looking for a decent deal with lots of specials(half off Mondays, referral bonuses, etc) then they’re worth considering. The only drawback preventing that fifth star is the lack of showers, but really, for the price? It’s an awesome massage.
