racial slurs being thrown around like 05 buehrle sliders down@ comiskey coffee was ordinaire, corned beef hash was a positively nulling experience. had this lingering feeling the waitress kept staring at this birthmark ive got on my head. totally was, chill tho

First of all, I’m not a fancy person. I was out hunting for a good diner breakfast experience. And this place is a few blocks away. And that is exactly what it delivered. They have a good selection of omelettes. The first time I went, I tried a Hawaiian omelette, which I had never heard of and I’m pretty sure they made up. It had pineapple and ham and swiss cheese and the combination worked. I also tried a thing called potatoes O’Brien. I realize mixing Irish and Hawaiian might seem kind of strange. But I have two counter-arguments. First, macadamia nuts. Macadamia nuts, which now grow in Hawaii, were brought from Scotland by John Macadam. Now, Scotland is not Ireland. Not at all. But they are NEAR each other. So there’s some precedent for mixing Hawaii with stuff from the islands north of Europe. Second, it’s diner food. It’s not like I’m mixing poi with blood pudding. It’s an omelette and potatoes. Anyway, the second time I had a different omelette. It had spinach and feta cheese and roasted peppers. It was also good. The food is good. The coffee is good. The service is good. It’s clean and pleasant. If you need a good little diner experience, that’s exactly what is inside. Now, I have to call attention to one oddity. I am a native New Yorker and only recently moved to Chicago. So, maybe this is a Chicago thing. Or maybe it is just an idiosyncrasy of the the Bridgeport Restaurant. I don’t know. Both of my omelettes arrived with this fist-sized, bright green spicy-hot pepper just sitting on the side of the plate. It was just there. I’m not sure why it was there. I am not even sure if I was expected to eat it or if it was purely decorative. I did try a piece and it was extremely spicy. It isn’t for me. I’ve noticed that Chicago does have a habit of sticking spicy peppers on everything, so maybe it’s not unusual. I don’t know. I only mention it because it might be a selling point for you. If you’ve been looking for a good diner breakfast that also gives you a fist-sized, bright green, spicy hot pepper, this is it. You’ve found it. Go here. It’s everything you want. If you don’t care about the hot pepper, you can just not eat it. They don’t seem to care. No one yelled at me over it.

This place is close to house and I drive past it all the time, so my boyfriend and I decided to stop in. The biscuits and gravy are awesome. The staff is great. The place can get crowded, so arrive early.

It’s a great diner. You get what you pay for and the menu is diverse. Exactly what I want from a diner.

What a great Omelette I had. Fast service, clean and well staffed restaurant. We are leaving Chicago today, but I have to go back for breakfast before we leave.

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. Bridgeport diner is a typical greasy diner with large portions. So why the extra .5 stars? Well, their service is ptetty on point. Our waitress always had a smile on, and was attentive to my coffee level, which I always appreciate. Plus, the food was decent, the atmosphere festive but not garish, and their food is solid for the price(though the food is not exactly unique or special– it’s breakfast diner food). If you want lots of coffee and a large portion of greasy, typical breakfast food served cheap with a smile, bridgeport is for you.

First time being at this spot ONMOTHERSDAY!!! lol I blame my sister due to this wasn’t the place we wanted to end up on mothers day. To my surprise they have very fast and awesome service. They also moved people with great flow when it was packed on mothers day. Our server was so friendly and the food was just your standard dinner food but with great portion size and hot and fresh. I haven’t been to this spot since 94 with my grandma but it was great to be back in a place I felt welcomed.

Good typical dinner food. Breakfast is waaaay better than dinner. In fact they have now been just doing mornings. Only thing I really didn’t like were the pancakes. They were rubbery and reheated. However, their Waffles and Eggs Benedict are very good. My husband loves their country fried steak. They also have really beautiful flower arrangements and always have seasonal decorations up. All the waitresses have always been great.

A typical diner, I was surprised at the quality of my food. Some diners in Chicago provide you with a lot less for the same price but Bridgeport Restaurant appeared to go above what is expected of them in both their options and in their quality. They also give you so much food! I left very well-fed.

Unfortunately there is not a choice for no stars. So I’ve passed by this place a million times for some reason or another while in Bridgeport. Always said to myself that when I have the chance I need to stop in. Typically the older the place looks from the outside the more I know I will enjoy. Well that was not the case today. I walked in and received some of the worst hospitality ever. When I walked in, the waitress acknowledged me and I said I needed a table for 1. I was seated at a booth way in the back, and had no problem with it. When I dine alone that’s perfect. I received my menu. Took a quick glance and went to the ladies room. When I returned my items book, and headphones had been moved. I saw then at the dining counter and just thought the waitress had moved them for safety. I returned to the booth with my items. The waitress approached me and stated that the hostess had told her I would not be allowed to use the booth as I was eating alone. I explained to the waitress that as she could see I had my school bag and my book and I would be spreading out to work as well as eat. She turned and was going to talk to the hostess when the hostess approached us. Well that is when things went wrong. She reiterated that I would not be allowed to use the booth as I was eating alone. Again I explained that I had my school bag and would be spreading out to work as well as eat. She stated that it didn’t matter, I was not allowed. I stated well the counter is too crowded and I wouldn’t be comfortable there. The hostess stated that they needed the booth for larger parties. I looked towards the door and there was no one waiting on a table plus they had other free booths. At that point the waitress gave me a look that said I would not win. So I stated that if I was not allowed to eat at the booth I would not eat there at all and I would take my business else where. The hostess stated«Fine» flipped her hand in the air at me and walked away. I will not be returning there. I did go on to enjoy my day and my meal by heading to a truly wonderful place in Hyde Park known as Salonica’s. Salonica’s has never disappointed.

So happy that I live a block away from the Bridgeport Restaurant. Their breakfast is always super filling, comes out fast, and oh so tasty! I love their skillets and pancakes. I’ll be honest, I’ve only ordered breakfast, but I need to try more, hoping that they put just as much love into it.

This place is a comfort greasy neighborhood diner. I came here with my toddler on a Sunday morning when I found out the wait at a popular breakfast place we wanted to go was 1hr 45mins. The food is okay as long as you don’t expect anything fancy. The service is very friendly and pretty quick. The prices are very cheap. I made the mistake of ordering their special crab cake Benedict. It tasted okay, but at the price point of $ 9.95 for two crab cakes, of course it’s not real crab meat. I really should have ordered their waffles as it looked amazing on my neighbor’s table. I will be back again when I need a quick brunch.

I’ve ordered delivery from here a handful of times and it’s usually great, except for the last few times. Both times I ordered french toast, and both times I’m pretty sure I received a slice of plain white bread that had just been grilled on a frying pan — it looked like grilled cheese without the cheese. When cut, you can tell very little(or no) batter was used as it’s completely white and everything was still the consistency of plain white bread. I took a bite and surprise, surprise — it tasted like I was eating a piece of greasy toast with syrup on it. Not sure if they have someone working nights that has no idea what french toast is or what. I’d ordered french toast from here in the past(several months ago) and it had always been good, so it’s clearly an issue with whomever they have in the kitchen now. Also, $ 8 delivery charge? Seriously!!!

I wasn’t too impressed with this place. For me, it was just average. I ordered a stack of blueberry pancakes to go. When I opened up the box at work, I thought the stack was small in size(which is fine with me) but very flat. I are them anyways though because you can only do so much to a batter to make them different from other places. The blueberry sauce was not good. It was too sweet and the texture did not look fresh. It looked thick and old. I haven’t back to that place since then. I am willing to give something else another try there though.

The food has been great almost all the times Ive been there. Chicken Florentine, and Healthy options are great. The owners are a lil racist(whattya expect when the owners are hispanic and so are 90% of the waitresses/cooks). Rumor has it that the white ladies there aren’t even allowed to serve their husbands/boyfriends. On the other hand: Jenny, Kathy and Danielle are the Crème de la crème of the place, with the best customer service. Tip for the owners, treat your employees right and maybe your turnover rate wouldnt be so high.

Local diner, need I say more? There pancakes are yummy, and skillets are fine. I ordered the bacon and sausage skillet, it was good but had an overload of large sized mushrooms and onions. Next time I’ll be sure to not to get neither added. If you want a big breakfast I say come here. Coffee is hot(as in temperature but it’s just ok). I’ll try their lunch food soon. But the servers are really nice and it’s a good casual feel. Bathroom smells great too.

Great place to come for easy diner food. We went on a Sunday at 11 am and didn’t have to wait for a table. The restaurant is clean and the food got to the table faster than the coffee! I had a skillet and it was delish! The portions were really large too, so it’s a great place to go for brunch. I thought that since this was a diner, the food would be pretty cheap, but my meal turned out to be about $ 15. Not super cheap, but not too bad. I will definitely be coming back.
