RIP. I think this place was open for less than a month, which is disappointing.

This place just opened a couple of months ago and I finally had the time to check it out. The décor is very old-timey on the Mike’s side of things with an old telephone, pictures of family in old frames and some other antiques scattered around. The place is actually split into two sides — the left storefront(Mike’s Restaurant) is for pick-up/take-out type orders where you can watch the grill and everything being cooked while offering some bar stools for seating, and the right storefront(Mike’s American Grill) is air-conditioned with tables and such for comfortable eating. It’s basically a hot-side/cold-side operation, with the same food served at each. It being the summer, the air-conditioned half was more crowded, but I suspect that come winter, you’ll find patrons huddled by the grilling area waiting for cheap burgers and BBQ. The double-cheeseburger? $ 2.95. That’s a good enough price to warrant a try, and it was indeed good. Not as huge as some burgers out there, but it did a decent job and satisfied my burger craving for not a whole lot of money. They also have BBQ ribs, chicken wings, pizza, sub sammiches and a bunch more, but when it comes to diner food, I prefer to stick with the burgers and fries. (Next time I’m there, I’ll donate a $ 1 bill with my signature and best wishes on it to add to the collection — there’s a lot of neighborhood patrons doing the same and they’re all on display over the grill area.)
