Holy Holy Heaven in my mouth! My husband and I recently moved to Bridgeport and have had such a great time trying out all the local food. Chef AJ’s has been my favorite so far. First, the kid who works there is adorable and so sweet, remembers us every time. Second, the food is SO amazing. They have a standard menu but also specials every day. I have been getting the blue cheese and bacon burger and I have no complaints. It is HANDS down the best burger I have ever had. My husband tries something new every time and I honestly don’t think he could pick a favorite. He has had everything from burgers to pasta. I am SO sad that they are trying to sell this place. I hope whoever buys it will keep the same food and staff. YUM!

Finally had the chance to stop by before the closed. I’ve heard a lot about the steak sandwich and decided to try it out. Probably the best steak sandwich I’ve ever had; phenomenal. Steak was prepared perfectly, medium rare, juicy. The sandwich comes with a good portion of steak(6−8oz?) 2 portobello mushrooms, grilled onions, tomatoes, cheese, onions, and lettuce. Also fries were included, except my fries were pretty much drenched in oil. Pricing was reasonable around $ 13 dollars for an awesome steak sandwich and fries. Plenty of meter parking accessible right outside of AJ’s. I’ll be back to try the salmon sandwich in the near future, and maybe a few more steak sandwiches.

I have driven past AJ’s many times and have always meant to stop in and try the food. From what I have heard, the chef cooks for the White Sox down the street whenever they’re in town and the food is great. It was a Lenten Friday, I was too tired to cook, so I decided to get some take out for the family. We didn’t want the usual… cheese pizza, pasta and marinara, etc., and I suddenly remembered Chef AJ’s. I called to check on their specials(the chef only makes a few dishes/night) and we were limited to the(meatless) Salmon dinner with sautéed spinach and potatoes and the Portabella mushroom pasta. We ordered both and both were unbelievable. I will definitely be back here to try their meat dishes, which I hear are also great.

The pet boutique down the street recommended this place Thursday night for dinner after I finished shopping there and so I did and a good choice it was to eat here! The cook there recommended the honey mustard chicken on a pretzel bun and do ordered it and also got the Memphis rub salmon for my hubby to eat later after he got off work. I got home and devoured that sandwich! It was yummy so after finishing my sandwich I decided to take out of the hubby’s salmon and after one bite I had to stop myself from eating all of his food lol needless to say I went back today Friday and order the prime rib sand which got us and an unseasoned piece if chicken breast for my doggy(yes I spoil my dog!!!) and the prime rib sandwich was a hit for me! The hubby enjoyed it too but he could do with out the mushrooms lol. Y’all must go grab a bite to eat here! The staff is warm and friendly and food is awesome!

If someone in the mood for a fantastic burger asks me for a recommendation, Chef AJ’s is my go to. I’ve only gotten delivery from this place but it’s best that way, so I can pair their 10oz BBQ Bacon Burger with a beer. The food is consistently delivered hot and mind-blowing. The really crazy thing is that they even have an amazing memphis dry rubbed salmon that’s on the menu every day, on top of other daily specials. Look out for their scallops special, absolutely a place to go back to again and again, sometimes more than once a week.

I got the buffalo chicken burger and my friend got the blue cheese bacon burger. The buffalo chicken was very juicy! The blue cheese bacon burger was humongous, slightly too greasy, but overall it was good! I would go again, especially for a late night snack!

I came here for the first time Friday and had the steak sandwhich. The sandwhich was amazing and they have you a nice hearty slab on steak on garlic bread cooked to your liking. The home cut fries were really really good too and seasoned wonderfully. Did you know that the owner of this restaurant cooks for the Chicago White Sox team?! Another interesting fact, this place buys their beef from a local Bridgeport butcher that has excellent cuts of meat. This place is great quality food but has odd hours. If you are in the neighborhood for a Sox game MAKESURE you stop here, you will not be disappointed! Check out my pics!

i heard a lot about this place and i wanted to see what is all this hype about. i ordered their special that day which was the BBQ Salmon Memphis Rub. it came with spinach, big piece of salmon with seasoning and BBQ sauce on it, and potatoes… the food was pretty good but the salmon was just a bit over cooked… but all the flavors are there. the prices are great also. will return and try other items.

I’ve only tried one item and it was delicious… the Parmesan crusted chicken. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. Fresh cut fries were an added bonus. I will certainly return!

Quick, convenient, and very reasonably priced. Mac and cheese was the best I’ve had. Also good are the pasta specials, prime rib sandwich, burgers, and chili. Be sure to check their facebook page for daily specials and hours.

Very happy to have found this place. The food is super fresh. I’ve order salads several time. Vegetables are crisp — no wilted lettuce at AJs. So far, we’ve had the Salmon Special. Comes with whipped potatoes and spinach. This entrée is so good and so huge. I have to force myself to stop so I have leftovers. Another favorite is the N.Y. Strip Steak Salad — this can be overwhelming at first. I have now learned to ask for easy on the onions and blue cheese. Believe it or not, it is perfect with the blue cheese dressing. The steak can be a bit fatty — this is due to the cut — not the quality. My sister-in-law is addicted to the Portabella Sandwich. No lying when they say jumbo. Burgers are excellent, so are the fish tacos(think this is a special too). TIP — call ahead for a couple reasons. 1. Cooked fresh on site so can take up to 30 minutes per order. 2. They don’t have a website yet and they close a bit early. BONUS — «Coca Cola de Mexico» and other real sugar options. Do they deliver yet? If so, I’ll up to a 5 star.

I ordered a steak sandwich well done and plain. When I got home and took a bite, my sandwich was medium and had onions. I was very disappointed. My boyfriend called to complain and not only were they extremely apologetic but they offered to make me a new one and deliver it! My sandwich ended up being scrumptious and I was very pleased with the service. Oh and the fries are amazing too! Thanks again Chef AJ’s!

I really wanted to like this place, but in the end I wasn’t impressed. Let me say that Chef AJ seems like a nice guy and has experience preparing meals for the White Sox. The burgers are hand formed and cooked to order. I tried the signature 10oz burger with cheddar. Huge burger with all the fixings, but lacked flavor. This place could really benefit from a chargrill to make up for the lack of flavor and a good cleaning.

Thank you for moving into this neighborhood Chef AJ’s! It is a departure from the thousand item menus surrounding you. They usually have a few specials for the day. We have tried the burgers, meatball sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich. They were all delicious and a lot of food for the money. The fries are great alone or covered in cheese. Definitely a better quality than most of the food in Bridgeport…

When wanting a great burger in Bridgeport I will always go to Polo Café or Nana’s to sooth that fixe. With Chef AJ’s Carry-Out being open I now have another option. I ordered their Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger. It’ s a good size with the meat patty somewhat overwhelming the light and delicious pretzel bun. The grilled onions and blue cheese add some great flavor to the tasty meat and I was happy with almost every bite. The burger did come with bacon but I sadly found the bacon strips to be somewhat dry and seemed to be reheated instead of freshly cooked. It was a damper but it wasn’t like the bacon wasn’t good. It’s bacon. And bacon in any form is pretty good. Even though I did order the meat to be grilled medium rare the burger came to me medium throughout leaving the meat not as juicy as I wanted but it was still good and I can complain little. The burger being $ 8.50 is a great tasting«upscale» burger for a reasonable price. Another sandwich I tried was their BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. The sandwich had some good flavor. It could have used some smokiness in the meat like I’m used to when eating pulled pork but overall it had a nice sauce and I enjoyed the few bites I had. I will say that because the sandwich had to sit in it’s own sauce and juices in the box as I took it home the bun was pretty soggy when it was time to eat. Using a fork fixed the problem but maybe next time I’ll ask for them to go a little lighter on the sauce. That and ask if they have any cole slaw. Cole slaw and pulled pork are best friends. Because everything is al a carte and no sandwiches come with sides I ordered three. The Red Potatoes with blue cheese and caramelized onions, Mac and Cheese, and Fresh Cut Fries. The Fresh Cut Fries are the clear winner here. Lightly salted. Fresh cut. Whats not to like? Sure, they could have been a little crispier but again, it’s carry out and fries tend to soften as soon as they’re put in a to go box so I understood any non-crispy set backs and was fine with them. The Red Potatoes were so-so. The blue cheese and onions were great but the potatoes seemed a little under seasoned and not that exciting. The Mac and Cheese wasn’t good. Elbow pasta in a bland cream sauce. Nothing really cheesy about it whatsoever and something i won’t order again. Overall my experience here was good. Reasonable prices for food that has a higher level of ingredients and quality that is refreshing especially in this neighborhood. Sure. I did have some issues with the whole carryout concept and my food losing some of it’s edge as it would sit in the boxes while I walked the four blocks to my house, but really, that’s nothing new with take out and it’s forgiven. This place has one of the best burgers in Bridgeport and a menu full of variety that I’m excited to come back and try.
