I remember this place(or I should say structure) when the guy operating it had signs«best fries in Chicago» and they were truly soaking wet with oil because they were fresh cut. The worst fries in Chicago, but he did a great business with LP high school. Always willing to try Any«hot dog stand» because I love ‘em and grew up on them. Even my family, now out of state, jump when they see one because they don’t exist in many places. The previous operator actually had a dump. Don’t know if he owned the property but it was dilapidated frame and for quite a few years it was closed due to pipes that burst, supposedly, and never reopened. This is prime land over here! So glad to see it cleaned up as most boxy frame buildings have been. Now for the grub. No fresh cut fries. Bingo! Prices fairly reasonable for the quality compared to dog joints near in the area. ‘Bout time. I’m giving only 4 stars because I haven’t tried much of the menu, plus now they are closed Sundays, and the portion of fries was small because they came with the order, maybe? The Maxwell st. polish the way it should be(onions a tad greasy though) and very good even though I haven’t found a place yet that can do Jim’s. Next will be the beef and the sausage. And if the weight of the dog is what it should be and not a «slim jim», this place is great. Hard to believe that only two guys were working at 1:00 p.m. There were about 6 adults and a few elementary school kids at tables, one person waiting and about 5 five people entered and ordered. Brisk business.

I would have given this place a better review. Was with my kids and ordered 2 turkey burgers and an order of fries. Food is a bit over priced. After I paid I realized chicken nuggets were the same price and on special so I requested to change the order. The cashier hit me with the«it’s our policy not to change orders» and I mentioned that it’s the same price and that I would still be paying more. He grumbled that they would do it this time. When they order was ready I expected that he would give me the drink because I basically laid the special price anyway. He said no and we had a few words back and forth and I said forget it. The food was overly salty. Especially the turkey burger and it was pretty small for the almost $ 6 price you pay. Needless to say I won’t patronize this place again.

I LOVE this place. My number one lunch choice when I am taking a break from dog walking. They offer some amazing deals, and the food is very tasty. I highly recommend trying the Italian beef.

This place is completely awesome. First off the guys that work here are great, they are really friendly and cool. The best thing about this place are the FRIES they are AMAZING. The beef and burgers are also very good. What’s even more awesome is that they are open into the early morning on Friday and Saturday which is great. Nothing like a beef and some fries at 3am. Overall this is a wonder neighborhood place that has quality food and OFFTHECHAIN hours.

The menu is a little overpriced but the staff make up for it and are always very friendly. They have Pepsi fountain drinks and for me that’s always a bummer. Great cheese fries though!

I eat brothers beef every day to keep me strong, in line with my body-building routine. Jk. But seriously, I’m the duke of brothers on Unilocal for a reason. Because I come here every Saturday after work for a tasty gyro. Now I know there are those of you who will say, «but Mickey, a late night joint like brothers beef can’t possibly be five stars!» And to you I say, I can give whatever number of stars I want to any restaurant I want– that’s the great thing about America. And Unilocal! Alright alright but in all seriousness, quality +hours = solid enough for 5 stars. Come get your late night fix on here if you are in the Lincoln park area.

Solid if unspectacular beef at Brothers; a little dry, so if you like your beefs not soaking wet, this is a good option. Meat wasn’t that spicy, but it was tender and the roll had just enough soppy going for it to make this palatable. Doesn’t win in any major area in the Chicago beef wars(price, value, beef, roll, juice, spice), but if I lived nearby, I imagine I would come here every few weeks out of pure laziness. You can’t wrong with beefs but there are so many better choices in town that it will be tough to imagine coming back. (Possible mistake on my part: I came here at 8PM on a Wednesday. Something tells me this food tastes better at 3AM on a Saturday, but I don’t roll like that any more!)

This place is great! We used to live down the street and I also worked near by. Julie is awesome to work with if you have an event you want to cater for. They have awesome fries and shakes as well. The staff is nice and will remember you if you are a regular.

Good burger joint. We ordered take out after getting hungry from a long walk with our dog. This place was convenient and very appropriate to get a quick bite. It was A-OK experience and I would order from then in the future again!

I consider Jim’s Original the gold standard for Chicago street food. You place your order and the food is in your hands almost as soon as the words leave your mouth. I came here and ordered a polish. I was the only one in the restaurant. 15 minutes later, my polish was ready. I wish I could say it’s because they hand ground the meat and made the sausage a la minute… but they didn’t. Fries were okay. The food is average, but for what they’re serving, it shouldn’t take this long.

This is a good spot for a quick, reasonably priced meal. I usually get a Chicago dog with fries for $ 3.75. Not bad. I just wish they would grill the dog instead of steaming it. But it comes with all of the usual toppings– except they don’t use the bright green relish, just the regular stuff. That’s fine with me, though. Still tastes like relish! Quick, clean, friendly. I hear their cheeseburgers are pretty good. Next time.

This place is ok. I want to give it 4 or 5 stars, but I just don’t think their beef is 4 or 5 star quality, but it is better than most beefs in the neighborhood. They get it right when it comes to the very thin slices, but it just doesn’t have the flavor I have had at other beef joints around the city and suburbs. Their juice lacks flavor. If there’s one area I applaud this place, is that the fries are always nice and crispy. It is one of my biggest pet peeves when I get fries from somewhere and they are undercooked and soggy. It’s amazing how many places cook their fries in this manner, actually it’s kind of disturbing. It’s always better to over cook fries than under cook them. Anyway, given the state of Italian beefs in this neighborhood, stop here if you have a beef craving and can’t get downtown, over by Taylor St., or beyond. While Lincoln Park has many great restaurants it sometimes lacks good Chicago street food like an Italian beef.

I am a regular here! Right down the street from my house. It is a hot dog joint with amazing fries and a delicious chicken sandwich! Prices are very reasonable and they’re open ’till 5AM on Fridays and Saturdays, you can’t beat that after a night of heavy drinking! They now serve breakfast starting at 6AM, so you can stuff your face at 5AM, crash for a few hours, then have breakfast ‘again’! Sounds perfect for a Sunday ‘recovery’ day!

I really want to like this place. I just can’t. I have been here 3 times, The week they opened, a month later, and a month ago. Hint #1 when a paying customer asks a question on which brand of dog or sausage your selling, know the answer. Hint #2 A Vienna Chicago style hot dog is made the same way everywhere on the planet. Fresh steamed Poppy seed bun.(not water logged, nor stale) Vienna beef hot dog Tomato Wedges Diced Onions Yellow Mustard Green Relish Sport Peppers Pickle spear Celery Salt Make it that way and you will do it right, do it different and you loose customers.

1 point for thin fries, but wish they were more crispy. 1 point for my polish, which had a nice bite to it. 1 point for the chicken/roasted veggie panini, which my friend said was yummy. Don’t get the burger.
