I was rather disappointed by my food experience here. I got the steak skillet and the meat was tough and had no flavor and the American cheese that oozed through the skillet seem to over power the dish. You could choose between French toast, regular toast or Pancakes. The pancakes were ok but I have tasted better. It also began to make my stomach feel queasy so I felt like $ 11.00 went down the drain. My daughter also got the steak skillet and she didn’t like it either…:( It looked so good when the waitress sat the food in front of us but basically we had a skillet filled tough and uneatable food. My granddaughter got the 2+2+2 meal which she enjoyed. She had pancakes(that she didn’t finish) that’s unusual for her, but she did like the sausage, eggs and potatoes. I think if you dine here you should keep it simple leave the skillets to another restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and apologized for us not enjoying our food, but we didn’t get a discount for our lackluster experience. All in all I won’t be running back here any time soon even if I am back in the area and starving. You only get one chance to make a first impression and for me that didn’t happen! You know how I do!!! Enjoy!

We went here for lunch today instead of waiting in Firestone for an oil change. But the food was not very tasty and the service was bad. There was something floating in my water and my pancakes had hair in them. Needless to say I will not be back.

My husband used them for catering of a large sports banquet. The gentleman he dealt with was Tony and according to my husband he was amazing — very helpful and extremely generous. The food was awesome — fried chicken, baked chicken, pasta, salads, breads… ALL tasted incredible and there was nothing remaining. There were about 200 happy guests. Tony even threw in some dessert cakes and delivery was free. Can’t comment on the dine in experience but from a catering standpoint they were the best priced, food was hot and fresh, and the customer service was great. For anyone looking for catering services on a budget I would highly recommend C & G catering

C&G is the intersection of Black & Latino Southeast Chicago. You’re going to be eating next to abuelos y abuelitas y «eses» y homies from 93rd& Essex yelling in their cell phones talking about«Yo, I want my money, son!» And then you’ll see folks like me and my dad, «middle-class» folk from the other side of Commercial Avenue, having breakfast after church. And in between all this neighborhood theater, there are pancakes and French Toast, and hot buttered rice and grits and fresh squeezed juice. There are big sandwiches, like you’d make at home, and spaghetti dinners. Is it outstanding food? No. Is it a «shithole?» No. I like C & G because it does pretend to be anything more than it is: a neighborhood diner. A place where all parts of the neighborhood can eat, together, safely, and be on their way. I can live with that.

Seriously, this place is a shithole. The grease they fry their food in tastes like it hasn’t been changed in seven years and is beyond bland. Their donuts are always stale and really sketchy people go and spend their day there. The only thing I love about this place is that they have this old school 1950’s orange juice machine that churns out FRESH, SQUEEZED orange juice every morning. I love subsituting my coffee with a large cup of this juice! Other than that, if you’re looking for decent diner food, head to ROMA’S down the street!
