%100 recomendado

Hybrid Cuban /Mexican food served in a fast-paced, urban bistro type environment. Wait staff are polite and attentive. Have eaten twice at the Milwaukee Avenue, Logan Square location. Recommend Bistec Sandwich and Cubano Sandwich would be 5 stars, if there was more pork and less ham on it. The enchiladas are also a cut above the usual slop served in the recent over abundance of Chicago’s gaggle of bad Mexican restaurants. The two MUSTHAVES are the Café con Leche and the Tres Leches dessert. WISECHOICEINTHEAREA. Portions could be slightly bigger.

If I could write a movie called«How to lose a guy in 10 minutes»… I order from here on a Sunday(1÷24÷16) via Eat24 and the restaurant messed up the order based on the description of their sandwich within the menu. When I called the restaurant to let them know that it was wrong and wanted to have another delivered, the MANAGERONDUTY stated that«he wanted me to pay for the sandwich and contact Eat24 to have them reimburse me, and by the way the sandwich does have egg on it» and so I told him that it could well indeed have egg on it, but it doesn’t say that within the description — although every other ingredient on the sandwich was listed… His response«well that’s not our problem». So from there I knew he had a bad Saturday night or wore the wrong undies to work that was obviously stuck far up his a$$. From there I decided to contact Eat24 to let them know the issue because they are pretty good at getting this sorted out and while. When we(eat24 rep and myself) contacted Café con Leche back, the Manager did of the most Egregious thing you can do within the food industry… HEASKEDMETOSENDTHEOTHERSANDWICHBACKWITHTHEDELIVERYGUY! Like really… who does/says that?!? and I ask that because there’s only 2 legit reasons he asked me to do that, either he was going to serve that sandwich to someone else or he thought I was someone who was trying to get an extra sandwich(but why would I do that after I’ve already spent a nice amount of money with that order and go thru the hassle for a free sandwich via delivery). Nonetheless, I said«ok fine», knowing that I would never order or eat there again… but guess what, he never sent the other sandwich or picked the sandwich I had up, so I called eat24 back and of course they refunded my order(cause they get things right), and the Manager at Café con Leche didn’t even want to get on the phone again to hear what we had to say. ALLLOFTHATTOSAY… There are literally SOMANYOTHERGREATPLACESTOEATINCHICAGO and with that type of competitiveness in the city you would think places want to get it right by simply providing excellent customer service, good eats, and being ok with being wrong. I WILLNEVERGIVEMYBUSINESSTOTHEMAGAIN! Oh, 90 miles(to cuba) is only a few blocks away from me and tastes better.

I I have been here twice. I invited my friend today for birthday brunch and was shocked on how full the place was. But we didn’t wait long to get a table for 2. We started off with a Red Sangria and a Café con Leche with sugar. YUM! My friend ordered French Toast with Fruit and I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with Ham. So yummy. You can’t to wrong here. Their food is very delicious and the service is nice.

The glut of the new scenester places up in Logan Square is nothing new; unless you have out of towners to cart around who have never experienced the new hipster friendly Chicago. Was looking for a place where the menu wouldn’t be Greek; where the wallet wouldn’t take a hit like at Shortman and Penguin *cough*. This place is excellent. From the convenience of pull in parking(hate hunting down valets and snowy parking spots in Winter) to the super waitstaff who just ache to get you seated and reading the menu, this place is rather friendly without the obnoxious hipster need to be cooler than the busboys to get the attention of your server working three jobs while in art school and prostituting herself on the side just to be able to muster enough ‘tude to get you that Arnold Palmer with just the right amount of spit. The menu reads like a smattering of post colonial Latin America, a nice sample of the popular dishes from PR to Mexico. The menu is apparently changing over to more Mexican fare. The servings are generous and flavorful. None of that«flavor» in Latin places where burn-your-insides-to-the-point-of-assplosion chili spice is somehow equated with greatness. No, there’s actual taste to that salsa you dab on your empanadas. So savor every bite. Take your time, because servers and managers are floating around to make sure you’re happy. Tip, you bastards… :D

I visited this café to catch up with my sisters and friend over brunch. It was the perfect place for this! We arrived and found parking right away. They have a parking lot in the back of the restaurant that is shared with the grocery store next door. I believe the sign says you have 90 minutes to park otherwise your car gets towed. There is also street parking available. The restaurant itself is artistically chic with a welcoming cozy feel. I felt very comfortable and they played Latin music(bachata, cumbia, etc) while we ate. The first thing we all ordered was coffee and the menu included cortaditos, lattes, and café con leche of course. I ordered the plain latte which was delicious, perfectly sweetened. My sister had a mocha latte which she enjoyed. The menu included a mix of American and Latin inspired food. Once I saw the ropa vieja on the menu I knew what I wanted. I have a weakness for this dish. It came with white rice and black beans. It was all brought out promptly and deliciously. They also offer sandwiches, omelettes, soups etc. It was a good variety! The service was friendly and prompt. Be warned they stated they can only split checks two ways but otherwise nothing but good vibes. I don’t live around this area but it has now been added to my breakfast/brunch places to go to. I don’t mind driving to enjoy good food, a good environment, and friendly service!

Always enjoy my brunch here. Never disappointed by the service or the food! I decided to try the breakfast torta with chorizo, perfectly flavored especially with the orange side sauce! Can’t forget about the café con leche it’s always a necessity to get!

This place has become a neighborhood staple almost by default just because it’s very close to our apartment and it’s open really early. As a result, when my partner wants an early-morning shot of fancy caffeine, this is the joint I trek over to. I’ve had a few meals here and they’re good but not great — the Cubans and ropa vieja are very fine, but the tortas are just average. Note that this becomes a whole different place in the evening, with the same owners but a different staff, menu and approach. That place I haven’t eaten at, so STOPTORMENTINGME, I DON’T KNOWEVERYTHING

I haven’t been to Café con leche in a few years. My husband was hungry so I suggested this place because I remembered how delicious their bistec sandwich was with the fries. So much flavor. Today was a disappointment. Fries are still delicious but their bistec sandwich lacked flavor.

Delicioso!!! Everything from the drinks to the food and the service is excellent!!! Looks like a huge wait, which usually deters me. Even with dining for 5, they took less than 10 minutes to get us seated– AWESOME! Everything from the appetizer platter, to the sandwiches, were SOTASTY!!! I had the Classic Cuban Sandwich which was the best! And of course the café con Leche is creamy and strong. The service is very nice too!

Love this place! Food is always great and a very nice live atmosphere. Service could be faster though, had to constantly ask for our waiter even to get the check. Seems a little understaffed. But overall everything else was awesome. We will definitely be coming back!

It was a very early Sunday morning 9:15am to be exact and I had trouble finding parking. Street parking was scarce and the parking lot in back was reserved for another business. Warnings that you will be towed are posted everywhere. As soon as I walked in I was overwhelmed with all the noise, it was like walking into a night club. VERY loud music was playing and It startled me! I was then approached by a young man that asked«How many?» I didn’t even know how to respond. I was shocked that I was not greeted. He didn’t even give me a chance to answer his question, he assumed I wanted to sit in between two crowded tables one that was entertained by a family and their crying toddler and the other that was so close to me I felt like I was a sardine in a sardine can. I refused this seating arrangement that he had planned for me. I told this young little kid«ummmm this will not work for us, we will have to sit somewhere else.» He didn’t reply! He grabbed our glasses of water and said«over here!» At this point I’m thinking there has to be a language barrier. But I’m Puerto Rican born and raised in Chicago. I understand both English and Spanish very well. What’s wrong with this kid? So once he accommodated me at another table I then said«gracias» but this kid was not having a good morning I guess. He was rude and anything but welcoming and gracious. By the time we looked over menu I looked up and to my surprise I was then greeted by an Angel. It was our waiter and he was a very sweet young man. He was extremely polite and eager to take on our order. He was well mannered and words can’t express how much he made us feel at home. Thank you waiter guy! The food was great, I had the chillaquilles and I was pleased. I will have to go back to visit I wasn’t sure if they place deserved 3 stars or 4. I am definitely going back to figure this out.

I love this place, I’ve had my set of bad service like going to any restaurant but it’s a great Latin place to eat lunch or dinner. I’ve been here at least 25 times and the Mojitos and Sangria is always great. I recommend the Jibarito and ceviche here! Thanks for the great service and good dates ;)

Atmosphere is nice snd cozy with a friendly and attentive waitstaff. My wife and I enjoy coming here because it offers a relaxing atmosphere along with good food. Besides their café con leche being very filling and tasty with a layer of foam on top, my favorite part of the menu is the latin sandwich selection. Wether its a Cuban sandwich or a jibarito(two flatten large plantains instead of bread) the sandwiches are unique from one another but equally delicious. For example I had Ropa Vieja which is a large sandwich with braised pork, sourcream and cheese. I added an avado to my Ropa Vieja and ordered a grilled jalapeño on the side along with fries. As an appetizer we had tostones(fried platains) with s side of garlic butter. They were huge and it could be used as a make shift tostada if you decided to add whatever food on top of it. My wife had chilaquiles with salsa verde. She was surprised how large this meal was and wasnt able to finish it, but it included 3 eggs, rice and refried beans. A destination place if youre done watching a movie at Logan theater or if youre in the area.

I have swag like a body bag. So take my opinion with a grain of himalayan salt.(Save tibet) But this place shines bright like a blood diamond. I had a steak sandwich that had fried plantains as bread. Wart dur fuk? Hopefully the gospel of yolo is inaccurate. Because I want to carry this gem into the next life. If only the option of six stars were available, 5 Stars it will be then! Wow this place was super jammed pack on a Sunday Morning, but we were able to be seated immediately outside on the Patio. Sitting outside on a beautiful day in Chicago at this lovely gem equals Paradise. Café con Leche in itself is already known for being the most delicious drink ever. So I had to see if the name of the place lived up to the hype, and boy did it live up to the hype. I was craving a much needed breakfast… so I decided to order Papas Con Chorizo, with an Horchata as my beverage. Papas Con Chorizo is a delicious concoction of(3) eggs have it your way with house potatoes, mixed with green pepper, onion, and chorizo. The meal is also served with fresh avocado and tortillas. The meal was a monstrosity of goodness, I could not even finish it. The Horchata(Sweetened Rice Milk) beverage is probably the best Horchata I have ever had. Yes I did get to try an actual Café Con Leche, which also rocked my socks off. Let’s Sum it Up! Great Service! Great Ambiance! Great Food! Great Neighborhood!

First time checking out Café Con Leche for brunch. We arrived at 1:00 on a Saturday and despite being told there would be a 25 minute wait, we were seated in less than 10. Our friends had their 2 year old with them and the restaurant easily accommodated her with a high chair, crayons and coloring paper, and a kids menu. The menu is pretty extensive and you have your choice from a plethora of brunch items or you can choose from their standard Latin/Mexican menu. I chose the Croissant sandwich, substituting ham off the bone instead of bacon, no eggs, and adding avocado. The croissant was perfectly soft and flaky and the croissant was very tasty. The house potatoes that came with it were seasoned nicely but could have used a tad more flavor or spice. My husband ordered the ropa vieja(shredded braised beef sandwich) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thoroughly enjoyed the seasoned fries that came with it. Crispy, flavorful, and sinfully good. Our friends ordered the the croissant sandwich and the chilaquiles which were both highly enjoyed. I was actually a bit jealous of the 2 year old’s pancake plate which came topped generously with freshly sliced strawberries and bananas. Definitely a great brunch spot with tons of variety. There’s something for everyone here — including plenty of vegetarian options as well. Wish it hadn’t been a rainy day because they have a back patio that I look forward to checking out. Service was friendly and food came out super quick.

I was pretty disappointed with this restaurant, especially after hearing such good things about it via Unilocal and word of mouth. I took my friend in town here, and I regret taking her here for her last meal. First of all, the café con leche(which I assumed would be delicious since the restaurant is NAMED after the drink) was not good. I’ve had plenty of delicious café con leches(including Cafecito downtown), and this was just NOTGOOD! It was bitter, and when I asked the server if he could add extra leche or sugar, he claimed«it should taste the same as any other café con leche.» Not true. Second, my vegetarian torta was«okay» but not great. The avocado was fresh, but I have had better tortas for cheaper elsewhere. My friend had the chorizo omelette, and she agreed that the food was just«meh.» I may give this place one more chance, but in the mean time I know I can count on better Latin American cuisine at Casa Yari, El Rinconcito, or Irazu. If you are specifically looking for Mexican food, I’d say that Taqueria Moran is better. The ambiance here may be somewhat nicer here, but the food quality does not make up for it in my opinion!

Our horchata is real – none of that powdered stuff. The horchata alone should give this place five stars. Great help from the server in selling us on their homemade version of this drink. The chiliquiles was excellent. The salsa verde was tangy and perfect with the fried tortillas. The eggs were cooked perfectly to my liking and everything just worked. I think next time I would pass on the avocado since nothing really beats california avocados. The dish would’ve been just fine on its own. The Café con leche was good too, though I couldn’t finish it because it was so big. I considered giving them one less star for temporarily misplacing my credit card and being understaffed and for not closing the umbrella so we could enjoy the beautiful sun, but their food really was that good. I can forgive the service. I do recommend getting more staff though! A great find. Would love to come here again next time I’m in Chi-town.
