I can’t review without a star rating or it would be none. Garbage. Don’t go here. My taco de Suadero was inedible. The meat would not break down. Gross. My Gordita de Puerco en Adobo fell a part and stained my hands and nails. Their music was blaring Narco Traficante supporting lyrics and soft core porn videos on all the screens with girl-on-girl action. All in all, waste of money, time, calories and stomach space. Just don’t do it. Go down the street to any other food establishment on 26th.

Man this was the spot a few years ago only management knows what happened now?! I moved to Wisconsin 5 years ago and every time we were back in the city it was A MUST to stop here and get our Mexican fix unfortunately as of 2015 we have been here twice and both times we were disappointed in the food and service. Our steak tacos and burritos had either fat in them or burnt pieces of meat from being on the grill too long. The gorditas were greasy and falling apart(this never happened before!) and they also messed up my wifes order she asks for specific items in her gorditas; lettuce, beans, cheese and steak. We have not been back here since before Summer of 2015 maybe one day we’ll go back in hopes that their food is back to how delicious it once was.

The majority of the time my delivery orders are complete, but they always end up messing something up or forget an item and attempt to bark at the customer when you call them back to have their drivers deliver what was paid for. I wouldn’t be calling your store if my order was complete accurately in the first place.

As much as I love the Gorditas here, which is the only legitimate reason why anyone should come here –this place has been going down hill both in service and cleanliness. It’s saddening to see a business that’s done so well over the years, loose customers or build on already established success due to basic non-negotiable expectations. They have fruit flies roaming food and your face-waitresses who take forever to check on you. I would recommend carry out, but I personally can’t trust the overall maintenance with which the food is handled.

Some of the best Authentic Mexican food in the city. The carne asada tacos are fantastic; lots of meat in them. The enchiladas are delicious. Nice and clean dining area, friendly service and pretty affordable. A must stop when driving by little village in Chicago! Highly recommended

If your from the neighborhood you know everything is made by hand! The prices are cheap. And it delivers! Place is small and of course there’s always some rude waitress there but hey it is the hood!

Gorditas are great here and only $ 3! Best authentic mexican restaurant. Everything I have tried here tastes so good. Even the French fries are good and they give you a lot for only 2 bucks. You got to try it here.

8 years ago I would given this place 5 stars in a heartbeat. This was my go to place for the best gorditas in Chicago. Lately though, the food quality has significantly gone down. The gordita I ordered was very hard. Although gorditas are suppose to be firm this one was super hard. It also didn’t help that the taco I ordered had a huge piece of plastic in it. The waiter we got was very disoriented which made the experience even worse. The only thing that will make me come back is a lapse in judgement.

I love coming here for their gorditas. The gordita itself is fresh and with the meat of your choice is even better. The staff is par which is why they get 4 stars. They also serve beer which is even better after a days hard work you just go in, have a seat, and have a gordita and a beer. Did I mention its pretty cheap? Yeah I think the gorditas are pretty cheap for their great quality and in taste. Can’t rate on the store side because I never shop their for produce or poultry. You’ll have to check other reviews for the other half of the store.

I have known this supermarket/restaurant for over 35 years and usually have decent food, but my last visit was something else. I ordered one gordita of mushrooms with cheese expecting that been a supermarket they have fresh mushrooms and cheese but my disappointment came at the first bite, the mushrooms were canned and very cold and with some tasteless red sauce and the melted cheese coming out of the gordita was burnt. The only thing that I can imagine is that they pr-made the gordita with cheese and I understand making the gordita first because it takes some time for the masa to cook, nut NOTTHECHEESE please. Also looks like they have a container with canned mushroom that they add to the gordita, add some red sauce, again, with no flavor and put it in the grill for a couple of minutes not giving opportunity to heat up the food. I also ordered a tong gordita, the tong was overcooked and with pieces of the tong’s fat. It was so overcooked that the tong was mushy and the only solid parts was the fat. The only thing eatable was the Jamaica water(they did not have tamarindo). The service and attention is good but for the food, I brought it to the attention of the manager(and he was socializing with customers) and he apologized for it and did not charge me for the food. They need to put more attention to the food and constantly sample it for quality and flavor and really take advantage of the fresh product that they in the supermarket and not to use cans.

This place is a taqueria inside of a supermercado… which to me is hmmm rather strange… but I’ve ate there a few times… and it’s not so bad… but normally order out with my coworkers for lunch… I really like their gorditas… very good and gorditas are made to order… if you get a chance to try them… I would order out… honestly it’s not the nicest place to eat…

I have been eating in this restaurant for almost my entire life and I would like to say that the gorditas that most reviewers have commented about are not good as they used to be. Unfortunately, new people have been preparing them and these people have not made it good. However, I recommend in getting tacos and coffee at this place. The tacos are yummy! And the servers add cinnamon to the coffee which gives the coffee a delicious flavor. Also, hope that there are still sweet breads available. The restaurant gives a sweet bread free when you order their coffee and dine-in.

Nope, try again in this hood for good mexican, my coworker raved about this place. «It was featured on Wild Chicago!» he kept telling me about the gorditas. I got em. Eh? Not bad for $ 4 i guess? Mine fell apart real easily and was sloppy. The bread they used to make the shell kind of tasted like sand. I asked them what they made it out of, they said, «Sand.» Gauc was pretty passable though. Bannana milk shake, I got, that was fattening as hell but not as good as the one at Los Camales on Archer. IF I am in this hood again, I would rather hit up EL Milagro. *drools

They’d get 5 stars if everything else was as good as my favorite plain quesadillas. BEST in the neighborhood. I love me some cheese! –The ‘hongos’ ones are a little on the greasy side but still tasty. –They deliver but only if you meet the $ 15 minimum. –Guac is good, chips are good. –Gorditas are on the doughy side and I prefer the crispy ones at Super Mall on Cermak and Western. –Love the market with all the spicy chips I can’t find at more american food stores. Lays Limon, Taquis, etc. If you’re looking for a diner feel but for Mexican food and good food at that, do it, just go.

Nothing like a homemade gordita(like a pita pocket but made with corn) with your choice of meat or filling. I got my yearly fix with one of these. First, it’s far for me but worth the drive, second the traffic on 26th street reminds me of Mexico, jammed. They have dinner and combo specials but I stick to my gordita. It’s yummy. Also, convenient is there parking lot. Take advantage of buying your groceries after eating or before, it’s in a store, aka carniceria or supercado. The spanish products are inexpensive then your large chain stores. Lastly, it’s cheap!

Muy deliciosa! My lova took me here claiming that they have the best gorditas in the city. I must agree that they are quite delicious. I had the gordita con queso y rajas. The gordita itself was home made and fresh. The queso was not greasy and perfectly melted. Service is slow. It is in a grocery store. Weird?
