It does the job. In my opinion, people on here are giving this place unjust praise. Someone even mentioned that the burrito here is better than La Pasadita, don’t know what they’re smoking but it was probably needed to give this place 5 stars. Pro-tip: oftentimes 24 hour Mexican places aren’t the best quality, but in the late hour they taste great. Don’t confuse the two.

I have never lived in Chicago proper, always the suburbs, though I have had my fair share of great Mexican food due to living in primarily hispanic neighborhoods for most of my life. So I’m being up front here that my comparison is based on experience with a wide variety of suburban Mexican joints(of widely varying quality), but my experience in Chicago itself is limited. All that said, I had steak tacos here which narrowly beat my favorite suburban tacos in terms of meat quality and overall flavor. I’ll definitely be back.

Sooooooo good!!! The meat is so juicy! I feel bad bc they’re so busy at night but it’s for a reason!

I wouldn’t know how the food is b/c i’ve been on hold for 11 minutes and then they just clicked on me. How rude. This is not the first time this happens and we decided to give them another shot and the same thing happens. Then when you go into the restaurant, it’s completely empty. and don’t try to tell them that they’ve had you waiting b/c they will give you attitude. Horrible, just horrible!

Best taco I’ve had in Chicago. That’s a bold statement and I’m not the first to say it! I got a fish taco with onion, cilantro & avocado. Very well made. Their salsa verde lived up to all the other Unilocalers praise. Plus free chips & salsa when you saddle up to their tiny intimate dining place! I will be back :-)

Came because I saw good reviews but I honestly it sucked! We tried the basic alpastor and asada for 2.50 each the meat was salty and old!

This place is open 24 hours and has some surprisingly excellent options if your craving a salad or a torta Be careful when you order delivery because it took 45 min longer than quoted time. I also asked to be called on my cell so I could come down and my landlord was awoken to pounding at the front door from the driver.

Mexican food that can be DELIVERED! *gasp* While not my favorite Mexican restaurant, Chavas is convenient as heck. They’re open 24 hours(which kinda weirds me out) and they deliver! My first experience with Chavas was about a year ago and I was mad they gave me tacos with lettuce and tomato… a sign of INauthenticity, IMO, but I digress… I quickly learned I have to ask for my tacos with onions and cilantro, which annoys my snobby tendencies, but I gotta pick my battles you know? On the days I’m feeling über lazy and not wanting to cook, Chavas is a good option for food delivery. This past weekend we called in an order and the food had arrived at our doorstep in 20 minutes. Good on you Chavas!

Ran across this place off Unilocal and it was a hit. The dine in area was small but the service was really nice food was cooked fresh on the spot and prices were not outrageous. If it’s late night and your craving some good Mexican food Check them out

The best hidden gem in the city. The chorizo is my favorite! This place has never failed me once and they’re open 24 hours! If your looking for the best Mexican food in the city this is your place.

LOVE the idea of 24 hour tacos!!! Everything here is delicious– steak tacos, chicken enchiladas, quesadillas… YUM! Their salsa verde is to die for. It’s a small place, and there’s nothing super special about the atmosphere. I live a mile away and I go there all the time to pick up my dose of Mexican food.

GETTHETACOS with onions, Cilantro, and avocado. Best tacos I’ve had in Chicago-and many others agree. This place is always packed. If you dine in, chips and salsa are complementary. Staff is nice and efficient. They will prepare your meal quicker than McDonald’s or Taco Bell, for about a dollar more than you would spend at any standard fast food joint. I eat there 2 – 3 times a week, and I’ve never been disappointed. They are open 24 hours now also, so what possible excuse would you have for going to Taco Smell.

My 1st time here based on a recommendation. Sooo good. Had some nachos with added ingredients. They are now 24 hours. Didn’t really want to share that info because i don’t like crowds. Lol! The inside is small so if ur going to eat n run not good for more than three people.

We come here about once a month or so. Place is small, but the food isn’t that bad. Never had a problem with this place.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. 1) it is tiny. Just some counters. 2) the tortillas fall apart in the tacos, get soggy quickly. 3) al pastor is oily and flavorless I’m not going back.

Love love love this place, always have. Now it’s 24 Hours which doesn’t hurt. I used to live right across western so between this place opening at 4 a.m. and Baccis closing at 3 a.m. I always had a go to late night joint… Well now it’s an all the time joint. Sadly not for me, Ahhh the memories. So it is true, as I read in another review, there is TOOMUCH lettuce on the burrrrito. However the taste and combination of awesome ingredients MORE than make up for that. Guacamole is great. Beans are great. Rice is good. Tortilla is awesome. Chips are unreal sometimes and sometimes just ok. I remember going super late(or early depending on your night) and they were actually making the tortilla chips from tortillas. You don’t see that often! Usually they come in a bag, in a box, off a truck. Awesome salsa! I prefer the green in the bottle for topping my burrito, the little side that comes with the chips for dipping, and the red on the rice. Exactly how I remember, just a Damn Good Burrito Joint. Great spot if you’re in the Ukie or West Town.

Too hung over to move? Broke from a long weekend? Need Mexican food to make a quick recovery? This is your spot. Delicious delivery tacos like a boss. They do great carne asada, carnitas, and even a decent fish taco too. All on warm corn or flour tortillas just like mom used to make… if your mom was Mexican. It’s not exactly the number one spot to dine in on account of it being a little dingy, but if you do decide to there’s a patio outside and they have Chalula which is always a plus. If you’re up for a cheap place to chase away what ails ya this is a pretty good choice.
