When we have a craving for Old School Americanized Chinese food, Cheng’s is our usual choice. The food has been pretty consistent and we haven’t been too disappointed with it. Good: Beef Kow – tender beef, nice amount of broccoli, pea pods and baby corn. BBQ Pork Fried Rice – tons of pork, a little on the greasy side but in a good way Kung Pao Chicken-well made, all white meat chicken, nice spice. Pass: Crab Rangoon – too much wrapper, not enough filling. And the wrapper isn’t that crispy either BBQ Ribs – nice Asian BBq flavor, but the meat is really tough. Egg Rolls – mushy filling. I can’t comment on the digs as my husband always picks up the food on his way home from work. But I’ve ordered via GH and the food is always ready for pick up at the quoted time. The price is right and the servings are huge – even the small serving.

Ordered on a whim with a co worker. Food seems a bit over priced, but the delivery was super fast and the food was great :)

I’ve been living in the Logan Square neighborhood for 4.5 years and was so fortunate to find this place back then. The food is super fresh and delivery is quick. I am obsessed with their Sweet & Sour Shrimp, the shrimp is huge. For anyone looking for their favorite Chinese place, this place has it all. They even have some of the best Pad Thai that I have had in the city. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

This was my first time trying this place and I loved it. I ordered for delivery and the food arrived hot. It didn’t take long for the food to get here and the portions were big. I’m definitely ordering from this place again

Cheng’s is hit or miss in that there are strange issues that occur with them between placing an order and receiving it. Two examples: I ordered from here a few days ago from their website, not a third-party delivery site. They had a deal advertised that if I spend a little more, I’ll get free crab rangoon. I added more to my order and when the food came, the crab rangoon was not in the bag. When I called, the woman who answered the phone at Cheng’s told me that what I had ordered doesn’t qualify for the free crab rangoon. I understand that there are limitations to these deals sometimes, but I explained that their website and menu do not have this stipulation anywhere. So she hung up on me. I called back and they did not answer, which is something I have figured out already about Cheng’s. Last time I ordered was last year(didn’t want to come back here so soon) during a snow storm, and I lived two blocks away from this restaurant. I ordered from Cheng’s during the storm, they assured me that they’re open and making deliveries. An hour and a half after placing the order I called to check on it, and they apologized for the delay, but the weather was holding them up. Totally understandable. I called back another 45 minutes later, over 2 hours from placing the order, and when I told the person on the phone who I am, she immediately hung up. I called back three more times and no one answered, until the third time when the phone was picked up to be hung up immediately. They have caller ID(you can see when you go in) so I was being screened after waiting more than two hours and already paying for my meal. I waited a few days and saw the money refunded on my card — but why not just tell me that the weather is too bad, that the order cannot be completed… anything? At the time I was angry that I was treated like that, but I am not much of a Unilocal review poster and let it slide like most things, but it seems to be a pattern with these guys. The food is pretty good, but with the countless similar places in this neighborhood, I do not see a good reason to be disrespected and jerked around for some fried rice.

This is my go to for Chinese delivery. I bet we’ve ordered it 20 times. First we order through grub hub. It’s so fast and easy. They always deliver in under half the time grub hub says which is great. They do so so fast that fried goodies like their wonderful crab Rangoons or Cantonese chicken wings and egg rolls arrive very crunchy and hot and they are smart enough not to seal them which helps too. I always get orange chicken. It’s sweet, spicy and consistent. My girl gets chicken fried rice with pineapple and extra veggies its always very fresh and flavorful. I never skip the wonton soup either, great broth and meaty dumplings with lots of roast pork. The potstickers rock as well. The only thing I have found disappointing was the beef teriyaki. It’s not terrible just not as good as mine and $ 7. That being said their portions are very generous and offer good coupons. Combo lo mein is pretty good too. I’ve been cooking Asian food for over 25 years and with great ingredients available to me in Chicago it’s hard for me to pay for it when most of the time mine is so much better. These guys make it worth it. Some day I have to go in and see how good it is at the restaurant. Maybe in spring!

Best value in the area, best Americanized Cantonese Chinese food in the area. Sometimes you have the hankering for some fast Chinese, this is the best in the area. They all speak Cantonese too, a good sign. Having lived in China, this is far from authentic, but the best around for this type of food.

I finally found delicious American Chinese food that isn’t served in goopy, tasteless sauces! Also, fantasticly rich wonton soup and some of the best egg rolls I’ve had. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken(they use white meat!), Orange Chicken, and Mongolian Beef(old style) for entrees. The beef had a wonderful charcoal/smoky flavor. The smaller portion was a perfect size(I think the larger portions are for large groups) and we still had plenty of leftovers. Super fast delivery(even on a Friday night), too. Glad to say this is my new go to!

Just ordered food from this place and I am so disgusted. We ordered orange chicken, Kung pao shrimp, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon’s. Everything except the crab rangoons tasted burnt! I expected this place to be good since they have 4 stars on Unilocal but nope I was mislead. We will not be ordering from here ever again.

This is my first time ordering from Cheng’s Chopsticks. My story with them started with me craving Chinese. Searched Unilocal for a good Chinese restaurant and this came up with a high rating. I was hoping to see more pictures of their entrees, but they will come with time. I called them up and a polite woman with a very pleasent voice answered the phone. I’m feeling good so far about this place. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, steamed Rice, Plain Friend Rice, and a can of Soda. Delivery was fast. got my order within 25 minutes and the delivery man was very nice. They lost three starts because of the following; 1– When I got my Receipt I saw that I was charged about $ 3.25 extra for an «[Open order]» Hmmm what is that? $ 3.25 is not a big deal you say, but I have paid for Delivery + nice tip and I pay extra for something I don’t know about. I would like to know what it was. I called up to investigate, and what happened is that the lady on the phone failed to mention the extra charge for substituting the Steamed for Fried Rice when I asked if I could do that, and Also Charged for the Side of Steamed rice THATWASSUPPOSEDTOCOMEWITHTHEENTREE! 2– They FORGOT to put a Chopstick with my order. I’m a Chopstick person when it comes to Sushi and Chinese! Why did you forget something VERY important to me! It is like they forgot one of my orders, basically! :( 3– When I tried the Kung Pao Chicken, I was expecting the BOOM of flavor in my mouth, which I didn’t find in this order. Fried Rice was a bit dry, too. I will give them another try. and please don’t forget my chopsticks this time. :) and oh put a To Go menu, too.

I love Cheng’s Chopsticks. It great, cheap, take out. The Orange Chicken is my favorite. It is all white meat. The egg rolls are amazing. I have tried vegetarian dishes here, and they are only *alright.* I feel like they rely on meat for a lot of the flavor, but I love the meat here, so I’m cool with it.

We ordered Cheng’s this past Friday night and delivery took just over an hour. We ordered the Orange Chicken Dinner Special and the Beef With Hot Garlic Sauce Dinner Special. Both were advertised as spicy, but disappointingly they were not spicy at all. The dinner specials were also supposed to come with egg rolls, which we did not receive. Another disappointment. The Crab Rangoon were GIGANTIC which was exciting, but they didn’t come with any of that red/pink dipping sauce that every other Chinese place gives you… so they didn’t really get eaten. The food tasted okay, but it was really heavy/greasy and I felt kinda nauseous almost immediately afterwards.

Cheng’s Chopsticks has great take-out Chinese American food. Although they all tend to follow the same formula: fast, low-cost, plentiful lunch plates, Cheng’s food is really good, and it’s noticeably less greasy. Normally, I wouldn’t order fried rice, but the shrimp fried rice that comes with the lunch specials is so flavorful. I love the egg rolls, too — they are also shrimp and you can see shrimp. My stomach is sensitive and oily foods will easily upset it, but no issues here. So far, this is my favorite in the Logan Square area.

I can’t believe I have not written a review for Cheng’s yet! They are right around the corner from my house, and a fabulous choice for fresh Chinese. I usually get the chow fun, which is perfection with a couple squirts of sriracha. Their egg rolls are also out of this world, some of the best I’ve ever had. The qualify of the food here is above par, especially compared with a lot of other local options, and portions are still large enough for two meals. Give it a try.

Pretty great place! I love chinese food and outside of chinatown, this place is pretty awesome! I usually order a few things from here on a Sunday night and generally have food to eat the next few days!

This place is great! I cannot rave enough about their solid white meat chicken. Anyone who frequents chinese knows how rare that is! The store front is a little run-down, but don’t judge a book by it’s cover. The food is pretty great. Our regular menu orders include the crab rangoon, egg rolls, kung pao beef, mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, won ton soup and egg drop soup. Their soups are alright. The beef is alright, but the chicken is where it’s at! A quick tip: Definitely get a lunch or dinner special. SO much food! You get an entrée, white or shrimp fried rice, an egg roll and a canned drink for under $ 10! It’s a great deal!

I have ordered from here a few times. My go to for Chinese take-out. Delivery sometimes takes a little while but the food is worth it. All the meats I have tried(mongolion beef and various chicken) are really good. Not crappy meat! Egg drop soup is really thick though. I couldn’t eat it because of its texture! Overall, good choice!

I grew up outside of Chinatown, so I was spoiled to having inexpensive AND good Chinese/Chinese-American food readily available. Now that I live in Logan Square, I have been searching for something on par on days when I don’t feel like driving too far from home. I have tried 3 other restaurants in the area and I am happy to have finally of found it! Items ordered chicken wings with fried rice(upgraded to beef for +$ 1) dinner special. The box was overflowing with fried rice and 4 huge wings, egg roll and a soda. Small order of pork lo mein. Boyfriend scooped some into his bowl and it barely looked like he made a dent in the take out box. Pot stickers were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Small egg foo young came with two huge patties and a small container of rice. Gravy was pretty good and not overly salted. We were hungry and I over ordered. So obviously there was tons of leftovers. But then again, there would of been leftovers regardless if we only ordered two entrees! Price is extremely reasonable, less greasy, and more of a selection when compared to other local Chinese restaurants in the area. Great lunch and dinner specials. Fresh ingredients. Large portions. The have brown rice for those who do not want white rice. Food is ready super fast(within 15– 20 minutes of ordering). Interior is clean and friendly staff. I just wish they were open later! And I wonder if they have a secret Chinese menu…
