Similar experience as Rich in the Riverside Location. I believe what is happening at Chicago land Retinal Consultants is a total disregard to an individual’s time and a total focus on $$$$. I took my daughter for 2 visits to see Dr. Pearlman and each visit took approximately 2 hours, which is absolutely ridiculous. The sad part about all of this is that their waiting room is always packed(mostly with Senior Citizens), who are probably willing to tolerate those terrible waiting times. My wife refused to take my daughter herself after her first visit, since she did not have the patience to sit there and wait herself. Every time there was an excuse for the long waits– which I none found acceptable. While I believe the Dr. Pearlman is quite competent and probably a good doctor, I would not recommend their services due to their poor patient time management.

I dropped my father off at this location yesterday and I had to run some errands which took about 25 min. I noticed that the waiting room area was full of patients that also came to see Dr. Pearlman. My father came for a routine laser treatment for his eyes. After I was done with my errands I came back to the office and was surprised to see that my father was still in the waiting room with everyone because my father was on time for his appointment. I asked my father if he was seen yet and he told me that the staff members took him to a room in the back just to prep him for his laser treatment. The prep consisted of some eye drops of water before receiving his laser treatment which usually happens about 5 to 10 minutes afterwards. My father again was called by the staff members and they to him to the treatment room. 30 minutes passed since they called him and during that time the staff called other patients to see the doctor and the waiting room had less patients. Another 5 minutes passed when I noticed my father was upset and stated that he was leaving and that he wanted to go home. While walking to the car I asked him what happened and he said that when they called him the second time they took him to the treatment room where he waited for 35 min and the staff member closed the door where she placed my father but it did not close completely. My father was able to see through the door opening all of the other patients that were called to see the doctor, especially those that came after him. This really made my father upset considering that he showed up on time, My father asked one of the staff members how much longer was he going to wait and they told him that he would be seen but that he would have to wait. My father was upset and told the staff that he was leaving and he left. Each of the three staff members had surprising looks on their faces while my father left. It’s 2011 and it’s a shame to see that discrimination exists even in today’s society. For the staff members at this location to make my father wait is one thing but for them to sit back and do absolutely nothing when my father has been waiting for a long time and once he tells them that he’s leaving and they don’t even try to make an effort of convincing him to stay is another. Bottom line: –My father will never come back to this office again –If you are black, do yourself a favor and do not come to this office
