Started seeing Dr. Young at her previous clinic and really loved having her as my optometrists so followed her to Contacts and Specs. Her pervious office was right by my house(very convenient). Now I have to drive across town for appointments but its well worth it! And I love the feel/design of Contacts and Specs! I am an RN myself and am very particular about the doctors I see and I have always felt confident in Dr. Young’s assessment and recommendations. When I first moved to Chicago, my prescription expired and that was when I saw Dr. Young for the first time. I have never been able to find contacts that work for me, it’s especially hard when you work 12 hour shifts at night in a hospital setting and your eyes are always dry, but she found contacts that are perfect for my eyes. She also helped me dramatically when I had a severe corneal abrasion. I was out of town at the time but called the office after I tore my cornea because I didn’t know what to do. She found a clinic that was near me and instructed me to go in immediately, and thank goodness I did because the optometrist I saw said it was the 2nd worst abrasion she had seen in the 15 years she practiced. I started antibiotic eye drops and by the next day was feeling better. Highly recommend Contacts and Specs even if it’s not conveniently located by you!

Easily the worst optometrist I have ever been to. I have no idea how Dr Young is licensed to practice optometry. She gave me an eye exam and said my prescription had gotten worse. I told her my prescription hadn’t changed for ten years. She said absolutely this is right, I put on contacts with the new prescription tried out the eye chart and couldn’t read the 20⁄20 line. She says, «oops, I guess they’re too strong.» She then gives me a lower prescription which seems to fit better but within two days, terrible migraine. I go back to my old contacts. I had also ordered glasses so called and told the man on the phone that I needed the prescription in my glasses corrected as well. He dismissed me and told me in just about the most condescending tone that glasses and contact prescriptions«work differently.» Glasses show up, wouldn’t you know, they’re absolutely the wrong prescription. So hundreds of dollars later, I still can’t see and will be going back to Dr Ma at Dempster Eye Care. The drive to the suburbs is worth every second.

I’ve only been wearing glasses for 5 years so I don’t have a lot of experience to go on, but what a great experience. The original place I used was also great, but going here I noticed a difference. Igor took a lot of time finding me the perfect frame. Even after we had to special order, and it came in, he wanted me to try some others he’d gotten as prototypes. Amazing experiences in dialing in the progressive frames. He uses a technology that has me seeing way better. Very pleased customer.
