The Corner Bakery at the Field museum has a smaller menu than the standard Corner Bakery. That is to be expected in a museum. However the actual paper menu that one studies, reads and rereads while standing in their line has more items listed than they actually serve. After standing in line for 20 min(it was a busy day during the lunch rush) my sister and father in law placed an order for 7 people. Three of the items that we ordered which were listed on the menu, this particular location did not serve. Wanting to give the manager a constructive critique, my father in law waited till after the rush ended and approached the manager to see if they knew that their paper menu was not the same as the actual menu. The particular manager that he approached — did not give an explanation, nor an apology … Just a curt reply and told him to call the 1 – 800 number. Unaware of my in laws frustration with the menu. I took my glass up to the fountain area and filled it with black tea from the black tea container. Upon tasting it I realized it was a flavored tea. Thinking someone had made a mistake; I approached this same manager and who was very dismissive to me and said they only serve flavored tea … When I pointed out that they had both a black tea dispenser and a flavored tea dispenser. She just looked at me and yelled «I said we only serve flavored tea». I walked away and found another manager. This one was particularly nice, acknowledged that they needed to fix the tea and menu situation, she asked for me to please contact the 1 – 800 number about our issues and then apologized for the other managers behavior. The food that we ordered tasted great — this was maybe my third visit to a corner bakery.

Eating at the Field is torturous — you can choose between a McDonalds and a Corner Bakery. Your choices are limited because you aren’t allowed re-entry once you leave. We did the Corner Bakery, ordered a Club panini, and got a greasy mess lacking both the promised turkey and bacon. Apparently it’s so bad it got closed before I wrote this.

This is closed. Aramark is opening a restaurant in mid November. The only real choice is McDonald’s. The prices there are 1⁄3 more than other locations and the staff stinks.

The food was fine for a casual café. If you’re ordering anything but a sandwich, be prepared to wait 10 minutes or so for it to be prepared. I had the small Mac and Cheese. The food was quite good. Cost was about $ 10, which is about average for a Chicago lunch. If you want bottled water for a drink, grab it at the front of the café.

I’m a pretty big fan of the Corner Bakery Café franchise in Chicago. It seems like there’s one in pretty much every convenient location there to save me from the evil clutches of fast food chains. All Corner Bakery Cafes seem to be pretty consistently good at serving up tasty salads, soups, paninis, baked goods and drinks and this one is no exception. In fact, they would have garnered four stars if not for their clusterf*ck of a checkout process on the day we visited. On that day, they appeared to be short of cashiers and we just happened to end up in the line of someone who was clearly a brand new trainee. That’s fine as long as the trainee has support, but this poor exasperated fellow had been left on his own to figure things out. Once we got our food, which was an incredibly fast process, it took well over fifteen minutes of waiting as the line grew and grew to get checked out and our paninis were cold by the time we got through the line. Otherwise, I’m glad they’re in the Field Museum, especially considering the only other option is McDonalds. My cold panini was far better than anything I could have gotten at McDonalds.

This is the worst Corner Bakery I’ve been to. It was still better than going to McDonald’s though-Corner Bakery actually has real food. The staff was inattentive and we just stood there while they all were talking to each other and not asking us if we needed help. We had a couple of pre-made sandwiches which were OK and the coffee was good. The staff is the main reason for the poor review.

This was the second time I ate at a Corner Bakery and if eating at this location was my first, I would NEVER come back. It was 3 pm and there were only a hand full of customers. I don’t eat red meat so wanted the tuna sandwich. They handed me a pre-made one out of a case. No date as to when it was made, mayo stained all of the corners. It looked so bad! I put it back in the case and asked for one with cheese, thinking this would automatically prompt the making of a new sandwich, NOPE! The person behind the counter basically ignored me when I asked for them to make me a new sandwich. He put 2 paper thin slices of cheese on a plate and handed it to me! One of the slices even had 1⁄3 torn off. I was re-handed the tuna sandwich from the case again too. So they refused to give me a fresh sandwich! My husbands hot grilled sandwich was also pre-made because they handed to him 5 seconds after he ordered it. Not wanting to cause a scene since it was my husbands birthday, I took the stupid tuna sandwich. It was soggy but I didn’t want to make my husband feel bad so I kept quiet. We had the choice of going to McDonalds in the Museum, but picked corner bakery thinking it would be nicer. Mc Donalds would have been an improvement! This location needs a secret shopper and for the corner Bakery headquarters to improve the service and methods of this place ASAP! It was a real letdown on our otherwise fun day.

The wait time to order at 1:45pm was 35 minutes. When I finally got up to the counter, they gave me a soggy pre-packaged sandwich that took away my appetite. The bag of chips I was given had a hole in the top so were not sealed shut. I did not feel like waiting in line to exchange them. The lentil soup was cold and flavorless(I’m vegetarian so didn’t have much option with soups). The dining area tables were filthy and were covered in crumbs(were not cleaned between customers). I’m just disappointed because usually this is one of my favorite meals at other Corner Bakery locations. Maybe the horrible experience is just a byproduct of being located inside of a popular museum…

Out of our ten day honeymoon in Chicago this was the worst experience we had. The ordering process is really unclear which is frustrating on a busy weekend, they didn’t have half sandwiches for the combos, they didn’t have all the salads that were on the menu, the broccoli cheese soup was sub-par, the tomato and mozzarella sandwich was not good and to top it all off if you ate going for a combo and you get the soup first, then find out they don’t have any half sandwiches, you are stuck with either a small lunch or a meal double in price. Never again.

It’s a corner bakery and if that’s what you want then fine, you’ve arrived. If you don’t know what corner bakery is, imagine McDonalds buying Panera and firing all of the Panera employees. If you don’t know Panera, just imagine McDonalds making panini. This particular location has terrible staff. Orders weren’t coming out, the drinks machine was out of drinks, the kids drinks had no tops(big mistake) and the orders that did come out came out wrong. Our waiter in particular took 25 minutes to get half the order out, and shouted at us across the restaurant repeatedly to ask if we had gotten our order yet. We enlisted the help of other employees to finally get our order. Corner bakery in general is probably a solid 3 stars, but this one is rubbish.(as a reference, i see a 4 star review that states they prefer this to McDonalds — not a great start)

We weren’t sure if this would be a good spot for breakfast since the reviews were half/half, but breakfast was great. For $ 17 two adults and a child got a healthy and delicious breakfast. I got the power panini which is great if you are watching carbs or calories, and the eggs were freshly scrambled. The portion was huge. My partner got a bacon egg panini which was delicious as well on thick cut sourdough bread. My son’s chocolate muffin was as big as his head and delicious, as was the fruit cup and the coffee. Solid place for an affordable breakfast when visiting downtown Chi-town. We will definitely go back again.

Try the California Grille(without cheese!) for a delicious vegan option! Very good food and reasonably priced!

Prefer this location than a McDonald’s in museum. This bakery serves not only pastries but also lhot/cold lunch entrees. You can seat yourself and look at the«Big Sue» dinosaur. I like that it has a separate line for just the coffee, espresso, latte and baked goods(think cookies and brownies) so you don’t have to wait in the snake-like line to get lunch.

For quick in-museum dining, this is one of the better spots in Chicago. All the comforts of a great menu selection of salads, sandwiches and desserts at reasonable prices. If you want crapola, go downstairs and join the bottom-feeders(literally) at McDonalds. Corner Bakery isn’t that much more expensive than McDonald’s, plus it’s better for you. But who can escape the allure of a McFlurry on a hot day? So try out Corner Bakery. What other museum can can match the fun of eating a meal 50 feet away from a full Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton? Great dinosaur watching. :nyuk:nyuk:

This has nothing to do with the food. Food was average. But I’m not too happy bout the fact that you can’t just go to the restuaurant without paying for the fields museum admission… I m visiting Chicago and wanted corner bakery. So I walked to this location hoping to get some food … Lil did I know. I had to purchase admissions to even get to the place! Sigh.

I would like to review the Corner Bakery in the Field Museum. About 10am on a Monday, I went to sit down in the café area in the grand hall which is nice and the table I wanted was dirty. There were 3 employees standing around and I asked for a rag to clean it myself. The employee I spoke to indicated I was to wait and WENTTOGETSOMEONEELSE! Then the employee he got told me to wait. After a while I just got another table.

I usually like Corner Bakery, especially their sandwiches on the pretzel bread. But this location was more like a cafeteria than the usual restaurant locations, I guess that’s because its located in the museum itself. Most of the food was pre-made and sitting in their coolers for what appeared to be a long time. The staff seemed pre-occupied with other things. If we hadn’t been so hungry, and didn’t want to walk anymore after trekking down 3 miles to the field museum, we would have gone somewhere else.

Aweful. Everything tasted like horrible school cafeteria food. Avoid it like the plague. Excellent concept because you van easily spend the entire day walking through all the awesome exhibits BUT it doesn’t hold the same Quality and standards in comparison to other corner bakeries.

I don’t understand why there’s a Corner Bakery literally on every other corner in Chicago, but I love it. This location is hands down, the best Corner Bakery I’ve ever experienced. We arrived early in the morning when the museum had been open for an hour so there were that many people in the restaurant. The employees were friendly, cheerful, attentive, and patient and they made everything on the spot in an area where you could actually see them make it(not behind closed doors) — which I loved. We ordered an omelet and pasta and both were delicious and fresh, especially the omelet. The pasta was equally as good but not exactly breakfast food, so of course it wasn’t as satisfying, you know?

This outlet is located near the north entrance on the main floor of the Field Museum, so they have a captive audience. It’s a busy place at the noon hour, but the service moves pretty quickly. They have some cold sandwiches and salads, but you may be better off with the grilled paninis, chili, or pasta dishes. I think the dessert items are better than the food. Your sweet tooth will probably dig the fudge brownies, lemon bars, or cookies, all chewy and delicious. Try to get a seat in the more secluded room all the way north, as you can get a view of the lakefront.
