A very welcoming and clean little coffee shop. It’s so homey, it feels like you are walking into someone’s living room. Free wi-fi and a great spot to study or work at. I ordered the Lumberjack Latte with almond milk, while it was a little too sweet for me, there are still some other things I would like to try on the menu both food and drink wise. Barista was super nice and chill, music wasn’t too loud, perfect for concentrating. All around great spot, that I will definitely come back to!

This is my go-to coffee spot since moving into the neighborhood! Seriously everything I have ever had here is amazing. I can especially recommend their lattes, turkey sandwich, and chocolate chip cookies. The people who run Cup & Spoon are great people and they have created a beautiful, peaceful little spot! Highly recommended!

I gave Cup&Spoon another try because it is so close to my house. I’m glad I did. The service was great and I love the art work! I definitely have a change of heart. This will be my study spot this summer. It has great coffee and a great vibe!

I love«working from home» from here. Everyone that works here is super nice and cool. They always have the best music playing at the perfect volume. The sandwiches are good, the coffee is delicious, the space is bright and clean. What more can I ask for?! Love cup & spoon!

randomly stumbled upon this place when i was in the area trying to find good coffee. the second i walked in, i felt very welcomed. the woman at the counter was so sweet and the style of the café was so clean and nice to look at. i ended up ordering a sandwich as well(basil pesto, tomato, and mozzarella) and fell in love. i’ve had a lot of caprese sandwiches from restaurants that end up super bland. the coffee was perfectly made and this sandwich was delicious. sadly i was in a rush and had to get everything to go, next time i’ll definitely be staying to get some work done.

Bread here is so good! It’s worth it just to get the bread and eat it if by itself, but the sandwiches are not bad either. Coffee is pretty good. I usually try a specialty latte when I go. The pop tarts are super yummy. People are very nice, there’s always people drawing and stuff I like it.

I had the vanilla latte and the blueberry orange poptart. The pop tart CLEARLY had Crack in them. I was moaning while eating them. They were so buttery and citrusy. Melted in my mouth. Perfect mix of blue berry and citrus and not overwhelmingly sweet. The latte was amazing. The barista was cute, laid back and welcoming with and a nice beard which is always a plus. Great place to work, read, or just grab lunch. Free street parkin on N Ave. I’ll definitely be back.

I will confess I am not unbiased. I really like the people that work here, they stone. Does not matter if you’re a YUPPIE, HIPPIE, agnostic, or otherwise place, you’ll appreciate the business of these friendly neighborhood grins. Try the java as well as the pastries, stay awhile, and you’ll understand you’ve located your new hangout; I ‘ve.

Rosa J. typically wants to dedicate her entire day off to explore the neighborhoods of Chicago. However, she had a dental appointment and was a bit too early to head over to the office. «Cup & Spoon» was three(3) blocks west from my dentist’s office. Without knowing how her mouth was going to function and feel after the deep cleaning, she better enjoyed a cup of quality coffee before the unknowns welcomed themselves into her life. I saw«chemex» on the menu and was curious about what that really was. The nice barista lady explained to me that it was one of the«pour-over» coffee they serve. Great, let’s turn my curiosity into reality and try the«Guatemala.» I tagged a cinnamon/apple poptart to go with my coffee. I inquired the Unilocal check-in offer(10%off) and it was valid. The pour-over was very smooth and aromatic. Although I’ve been visiting various coffee shops in the city and the suburbs, rarely did I pay attention to the«pour-over» options featuring on their special menus. The baristas were fun, engaging with the patrons, and didn’t take themselves too seriously! I consider all three(3) as positive traits. Some of the coffee spots in certain neighborhoods are slightly pretentious, and I don’t particularly care for this kind of vibe. I’m definitely coming back for more pour-over coffee, since I have more dental appointments coming up soon.

Honestly the chillest coffee shop I’ve ever been to. The music is on point and the sweets/coffee are awesomely delicious. The mood is pretty chill. Wish the place were a bit bigger but other than that, the mood is dope.

Well I live only a ½ mile away but have just discovered Cup & Spoon. What a cute and welcoming café! Not too much seating, only about 7 – 8 smaller tables along with stools at the coffee bar and one of the windows. I came in midweek around 1pm and got one of the last spots big enough for me to sprawl out. The overall vibe was pretty quiet with most people working on their laptops. Vegan blueberry banana muffin – tasty and not at all dry, which is always a plus Vanilla essence latte – delicious BUT I made a terrible mistake and forgot to give them my milk choice so idk if it was delicious because it was made with full fat milk or because it’s delicious regardless. Will definitely be coming back to try some more of their baked goods and their other specialty drinks. They also had a menu of sandwiches. Employees were very friendly.

This place is really cool, interesting menu and the baristas were really nice. The only thing that really bothered me is that I was unable to order a sandwich because they were out of almost all their ingredients for multiple sandwiches. That was somewhat upsetting as I walked 30 minutes specifically to try their sandwiches. Next time I guess.

I can’t think of a better place to write about for my 500th review. In my multiple visits to the Chi-re, I definitely make it a point to check out this joint. AMBIANCE– I like that this place has a somewhat minimalistic décor, yet seems very homey. A handful of tables and chairs scatter this place, with a nice little nook set up in the front window of the shop to catch some sun, people watch, or be seen by people passing by. This place shares space with an art studio, so the art on the wall changes regularly. SERVICE– if I had to say one thing this place excels at, it is their customer service. I must warn you, if you’re looking for«fast» coffee, then this ain’t your joint. The baristas here take their time to make you a quality product, and I must say that the various baristas that work here are very engaging and super friendly. One of them(Mary) even makes kissy faces at me when I come in, though she may just be trying to work a tip:-P I’ve come by on occasion and have noticed that a number of baristas address their customers by name, and already know their order– clearly a sign that they’ve established good relationships, and people keep coming back. MENU– the menu has changed quite a bit since I first visited. Standard coffee, lattes, etc… when they first started, they have since built onto that and added baked goods(including home made pop tarts), donuts, and sandwiches using ingredients from local suppliers. While I cannot say sandwiches, they sound terrific, and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before I partake in their deliciousnessnessnessnessness. FOOD– I’m pretty simple when I go to coffee shops, so I stick to simple things like chai lattes. I have had the pop tarts, and they are quite exquisite. They rotate the flavors depending on the time of season, so be sure to check ‘em out when you go. OVERALL– a great addition to the neighborhood. I can definitely kill time here– whether I’m meeting up with people, or just chatting up the baristas, I enjoy going here and definitely feel welcome when I come. If you happen to be in the area, I’d say it’s worth checking out for sure. CELEBRITYRATING– Jim Harbaugh(if you Chicagoans do not know who that is, I don’t know what to say)

My favorite coffee in town. The only other place I equally enjoy is Philz back in California… and that is saying a lot! I highly recommend the vanilla essence latte. The vanilla is incredibly subtle but a perfect addition to the coffee — very comforting drink. I’ve also had the lumberjack specialty drink which is also good. Also try the pop tarts! I’ve had strawberry and vanilla, blueberry, apple cinnamon, and pumpkin nutmeg. All so good! I think my favorite is the blueberry.

What a great coffee shop! I was visiting Chicago and noticed all of the good reviews so I made my way to this shop. I’m glad I did! I tried the Wild Roses drink. It’s a mocha with a special twist and it was delicious. The Scream Cheese sandwich was perfect for a warm spring day. Don’t pass up the pastries! I tried a Strawberry Vanilla pop tart. I’m glad I saved room for that! The space is cosy with lots of natural light and several seating areas. I parked myself in a comfy chair by the window for awhile while I ate and sipped on my iced coffee drink. The service was great and the staff was friendly. I highly recommend a stop here.

I really like this place(and you also get a 10% discount with check-in). This little café is featured on the Indie Coffee Passport and was one of my stops during the dead of winter, in the middle of February. It was heart-warming to trudge in from the gray slush outside to a modern little nook to have coffee(Metropolis) in a room full of pleasant people. Despite the snow, there also happened to be some sun. Cup & Spoon doubles as an art gallery(they feature different works on their white walls), they host open mic nights, sell knick-knacks and they have a sense of humor. See their description of the«Peppermint Cow» Latte below: «Steer yourself in the direction of this udderly bovine, calf-feine free cowcoction. Our hot chocolate unites with a pop of peppermint.» Punny right? It’s hard not to love. #punsfordays.(Btw this drink is also on the Indie Coffee Passport menu.) WHAT I ORDERED: Vanilla Essence Latte || ‘Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla comes together in a perfect latte harmony with fig and black pepper’ WHAT I WOULDDONEXT: Order a home-made poptart with pour over coffee. The«Vanilla Essence» which sounded so special tasted like a regular vanilla latte(or maybe my tastebuds are kinda hopeless) so I’d opt for a simpler beverage next time. However, I’ve read some great reviews about this lovely poptart creation and I’m a sucker for pastries. So the second time ’round I will order one of those, which might just be the tipping point to five stars. You’ll have some fun perusing their menu(at least I did) reading names of sandwiches like the«Scream Cheese» and the«Persistence of Pesto.» Their baristas are kind and polite, which go a long way. I would definitely come back to this arts-n’-music oriented café, maybe for an open mic night.

It was cold out and there was nothing I wanted more that morning than some piping hot coffee. I was nearby and knew somebody would be pouring coffee at the Logan Square Indoor Market. Open every Sunday until the end of March, you’ll find them in the backroom corner, next to the musical act for the week. I ordered a black coffee, which was solid, and on a whim ordered the last Strawberry Vanilla Pop Tart. I’ve had handmade pop tarts before, but this was by far the best. First off, it’s bigger than your standard malnourished pop tart. It’s much bigger and filled with sweet strawberry jam with vanilla frosting. But what makes it my favorite is that it has that very same distinct texture of being hard yet chewy. Just like a pop tart should be. Otherwise it’s just a toaster strudel. I’ll be back at the market just to try the other flavors of pop tarts. I hope C&S will be there every Sunday.

Small, hip(ish) and quiet coffee shop. My visit was extra quiet as there was no music so it felt a bit awkward and strange. I ordered a latte and a strawberry poptart. They have metropolis beans which is a huge deal to me. The poptart was phenomenal. If they weren’t 4 bucks I would have taken one to go. If it wasnt for the quietness and strangeness I felt from the lack of music I would have given this place 5 stars.
