The food is great .but I m giving one star coz they have the worst delivery service .on 5÷22÷2016 at 345 pm, it took me 35 minutes to place the order, they guy on the phone has no clue to get an order. Also they charged me 7 dollars for the delivery or he told me to come and pick the food ., it is just an awful delivery service. You gonna lose a lot if you keep the delivery service the same ., but I love the food

I can never go wrong when I either order from here or dine in… they always make the dishes to my taste like they have known me for ages(they don’t, lol). The service is prompt. My favorite is the Chicken Chettinad and the Kothu Parotta with chicken. I don’t have a sweet tooth but my friends tell me the Gulab Jamun is quiet delicious, not too sweet or syrupy! Above all Thank you to the restaurant owner for always taking a personal interest in serving the customers. Keep it up.

I want to like this place. They have good food. But, unfortunately, they messed up this time. In theory that’s okay, but I was moved enough to write this review because of just how badly they handled the situation. I ordered on Grubhub with an estimated delivery time of 8:55 — 9:05.(The place is 15 minutes away). At 9:10 I call just to check where the driver is. They say 5 minutes away. At 9:30 I call again. The manager says he’ll call the driver and call me back. He does so and tells me the driver can’t find my room in the apartment. I explain that the first number is the floor number(it’s not complicated) and THEN I get a call from the driver saying«so sorry… The rain… I’m 10 minutes away– I appreciate your patience.» I explain that this is pretty crazy since it’s raining hardly at all and I was just outside in a car and… Apparently cars can handle rain. Also apparently he wasn’t having trouble finding my place? So not sure what that was about. At this point it’s 9:48, which is officially 2 hours after I made the order. So I call Grubhub and cancel and they say they’ll call the place and refund the money etc.- no way am I paying for an order that late. So at this point I plan on going to bed. Then I get a call from the driver asking me if I cancelled and I said yes. And he begins to tell me about road conditions, and I tell him to just be honest with me because I am literally looking at the road right now and it’s fine. I tell him that if he wants to still deliver it in the next five minutes or so I’ll just pay cash, but that I definitely couldn’t justify paying the entire amount. But otherwise happy to cancel. He says he’ll call me back. At this point I can actually see him outside my window on the phone with his boss. And then, after 5 minutes, he just leaves(without ever calling back). Anyway, maybe I’ll read this in the morning and see that I’m just being tired and overreacting but… At this point I really don’t see myself ordering from here again. To put it in context: today I literally flew in a plane from Baltimore to Chicago in less time than it took for my delivery order to be made and brought to my apartment. And it was raining in the sky too.

I had never been here, or even heard of the place, until my son and his girlfriend kept raving about it. They had gotten some deliveries from there many times. So one day we decide that we will all go there together. The restaurant was empty and cold. The guys there were nice and the menu was very easy to understand. We ended up getting the chicken curry, some samosas and naan. It was delicious! I was very impressed, and pleasantly surprised. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the restaurant could have been a bit warmer and the bathroom was messy. I think I will just get delivery next time.

Worst fried rice ever eaten! Took a take out of veg fried rice and chicken kadai at 9:30 pm tonight. Went home and found burnt rice with literally no veggies, just burnt black particles everywhere with a crappy taste of burnt stuff! Rice went into trash. The person who cooked these absolutely didn’t know how to cook or was damn pissed he had to cook! Anyone couldn’t make food this bad unless they want to!!! and even the kadai chicken was no kadai. Just a basic chicken gravy. Never ever going back, avoid the pathetic food, save ur money.

Our family loves Indian food and we’ve dined in and ordered from many different restaurants. Tonight we gave Curry Bowl a try. I ordered Chicken Tikka. I’ve had this same dish from at least five different restaurants. I have allergies and a difficult stomach. Chicken Tikka is one of the few Indian dishes I can eat. Here’s the dish’s description from Curry Bowl’s website. «Boneless chicken pieces marinated with spices and cooked in a clay oven.» That’s what I wanted. What I got was the above smothered in grilled green peppers which I’m allergic to. I couldn’t eat the dish at all. Had they mentioned green peppers on the menu, I wouldn’t have ordered it. I have never seen this dish prepared with green peppers. My wife ordered mutter paneer with the note that it be prepared mild. It came spicy instead. So, not a great impression Curry Bowl. Small portions, overpriced and badly prepared. I won’t be back.

As a self proclaimed expert on Devon cuisine, I have a very high standard for Indian food. Curry bowl exceeded my expectations. The Chicken Tikka Masala was creamy and spicy, unlike the bland varieties at other restaurants. The Saag Paneer was rich and flavorful, and the vegetable Jalfrezie was fantastic. I highly recommend coming here if you can’t choose from the variety of restaurants on Devon.

There are many flavors of foods in the Indian sub-continent. Finding Sri Lankan food is extremely difficult in Chicago; however, the Curry Bowl is a hidden gem that creates the many flavors of the Indian sub-continent including Sri Lankan food. While the Curry Bowl menu lists the traditional fair of North and South Indian cuisine, a quick word with the manager can uncover the hidden fair of food, including Sri Lankan fair, that is made to specific order using traditional ingredients such as coconut milk and coconut oil. The prices are reasonable, the manager is friendly, and food is spicy and tasty. Sri Lankans are encouraged to visit this hidden gem on Devon in Chicago.

It is worst food I ever had in my life. Human can’t eat their food. The chicken biryani was completely uncooked. I don’t even think they are using real chicken. I called them they said they will refund me but they never did. This is not how you run the business. It will never going to work this way.

While expectations are already low of restaurants on devon, this one couldn’t earn more than two stars. We were feeling very adventurous in trying a place we never had before and situated at an attention grabbing corner, our curiosity led us here. We both had the thali — which is basically a buffet on a large plate(with no free refills). The food was quite mediocre and tasted stale/microwaved. The sauces seemed packet combinations not freshly prepared either. We had pakoras or fritters, and they’re supposed to be stuffed with a veggie. Half of ours was plain dough. The dessert was gulab jamuns — they must keep them frozen and forgot to thaw them before serving. Goes without saying, there’s no service at all. We had to grab silverware from a neighboring table on our own because the sole young girl up front had no clue what to do when diners arrived.

Having moved to the area recently, I was very excited to find a highly-rated Indian restaurant that delivered to our address. Sadly, that excitement only lasted until the food was delivered. The Chicken Makhani smelled amazing but proved to be more like tomato soup with a few bits of chicken floating in it. Worse, the first bite included a thin, over 2″ bone that I almost choked on! Hoping this was a fluke, I carefully tried a bit more(despite the lack of chicken, the flavor was very good). But after 2 more bites I ended up with big chunks of gristle, and I was DONE. The Paneer Kulcha was nicely flavored but cold and rubbery, and we were so put off by the bones/gristle in the Makhani that we were afraid to even try the Chicken Curry noodles. Overall an EPICFAIL — so disappointed !!!

It is with great trepidation that I give Curry Bowl 3 stars. I’m not sure that they deserve them… We ordered through GrubHub. Let me say… the food that got to us was delicious(ergo 3 stars). But then there’s the problem of the samosas. Who doesn’t love samosas??? Me… when they are missing. I promptly called the restaurant who said they would contact the driver. They called back fifteen minutes later to say the driver forgot the samosa and will be there in 10 – 15 minutes. Great! No problem! I can forgive the sweet driver that thanked me for his tip. Thirty minutes later no samosa. I call again. «Oh I am sending the driver out now with two samosa. They will be there in 15 minutes». Another thirty minutes later.“I just spoke to him, he will be there in one minute”. Really, because I’ve heard that a lot already. «Five minutes or I refund your order». Forty minutes later I call one last time. It’s now been 110 minutes. «Seriously, the driver is in heavy traffic». Yeah… right! That’s when Naseer and I had a nice long talk that got me nowhere… I should hope the samosas were so delicious that the driver simply could not help himself and ate them on the way. And then went back for more. And ate those. Etc… Still doesn’t make up for the two hours of waiting for mythical food that I paid for in cash. Thank god GrubHub was kind enough to give us a little grub cash for our trouble. ***Two hours and twenty minutes after my first complaint call, the missing samosas arrived. The driver claimed they came directly from the restaurant but they are ice cold and greasy as hell. I’m pretty sure they would have been delicious fresh. Driver blamed the restaurant. Restaurant blamed the driver/traffic… ***Naseer just called me wondering why I took the samosas and how he is going to get paid for them. The samosas that I paid for. In cash. Two and a half hours ago. He relented after I convinced him that I had paid for the samosas and that GrubHub is giving me credit for late food(GrubHub’s wording not mine… I wanted to go with ‘mythical’ but Brian at GH said if it hasn’t arrived yet it is late… and it was!). Naseer still hopes I will not judge them too harshly for this mistake which will never happen again…

Very impressed. Great service, mighty tasty naan, great curry dishes and speculator tandori chicken. The kids loved it too, my wife and I were very happy. Try the samosas, they are not greasy and very flavorful. Looking forward to our return!

The worst service. The staff has no knowledge of what it takes to be in a service industry. Food was OK not worth coming here for the taste of true Indian masala or curry.

I have been to Devon street numerous time & I get excited at good Indian restaurant along Devon street. Last night we walked in Cury Bowl(First time) and the attendee said upon our asking if the kitchen is open, he said yes till 10:30pm. So, with a disgruntled look on his face he made us sit at a table and make our order so the cook can delivery before the closing time. PS: We walked into the restaurant at 9:55pm. Well we waited till our food shows up, but before we could even taste the food the guy started ranting about how he has to pay him extra since they will have to stay past 10:30pm and also few other rude thing that we should have read the timing before walking into the restaurant. He is not even getting return on investment for this dinning since he has to pay over time. He kept on insulting. So, I stood up and said look we asked you if the kitchen is open, you said YES and now you insult me and my attended. That’s not acceptable. Inreturn the guy said it was our responsibility to check the time before entering the restaurant. It made me really annoyed that he is acting so rude, and irrational. I would warn any reader reading my review to avoid visiting restaurant who couldn’t respect their customers. Let alone this restaurant whose representative was rude, inconsiderate and on top of that insulating. NEVEREVERDININGHERE!

We had a okay experience. Food that eventually came was very good. The waiter apologize being so short staffed and said that they have been so slow and let go of people. All in all we both thought the food was delicious and they were very nice. I would definitely go back againand hopefully they would be more organized. Now the bathroom on the other hand needed some major repair

Came here because others near by were closed and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious and relaxing my meal was. Garlic Nain, Basmati rice, spring rolls, and chicken somosas were all great. Don’t let the simple design fool you. It’s yummy!

Delicious chicken tikka masala, bread assortments, and samosas! My wife and I have ordered here for delivery several times and are always pleased with the quality of food and service! Folks are friendly, food is hot and delicious! I guess my only suggestion is to add a little more description to the online menu. I’m sure everything is delicious, but I’d just like to know a little more about what I’m ordering without having to google search images! :-)((but obviously this hasn’t stopped me from ordering!!))
