This gem is hidden away inside the Chicago Hyatt Regency although I don’t know why they hide it, it’s the best restaurant and least expensive in the place… you know, come to think of it, it’s about the best thing there including the hotel. Try this place, not fancy, basic burgers and fries. The food is cooked well, comes in very generous portions(Try the battered cod) and is reasonably priced. The service is fast. As an Irish-American, I didn’t see anything Irish-ie about it but so what? Go, enjoy!

A very quaint place to get a bite to eat. It took quite a long time to get our food. A friend and I shared the nachos and a salad. The nachos were absolutely huge! They were good, but I wish there would have been more stuff on all the chips. The salad was reality good!

I find it mystifying that people can completely screw up and undermine one of the world’s great(and one of my personal favorites) cuisines — Irish Pub Grub. I know that this is a hotel bar but the food from here was exceptionally vicious — I actually found myself in disbelief at times while eating here. The chili: Runny, soggy, and bland — disgusting. The wood-fired BBQ chicken flatbread: dry, dated, and tasteless — depressing. The interiors were what you would expect an Irish pub to look like — dreary, dark, with a few people sitting around here and there. Add to that the bloated hotel bar prices, and what you get is lousy food with a big gaping hole in your wallet. And don’t even think about going into the $ 8.50 Guinness territory.

Really disappointed. Long day of driving and by the time we arrived at the hotel, the last thing we wanted to do was go out in freezing temps for a bite to eat. Menu was limited and very pricey. I think they try to justify the prices by placing the word organic on the menu in various dishes. I had the spaghetti bolognaise… the sauce tasted like it came from a frozen dinner. Not worth $ 21. My husband had the chicken sandwich. He said it was one of the most bland chicken sandwiches he had ever had. Our kids had the chicken soup which they said was decent, but $ 9 for a bowl of soup that wasn’t that big? I ordered a Cosmo that was probably the worst Cosmo I’ve ever had. The service was just ok. The bill before tip was $ 111 for a spaghetti, chicken sandwich, 2 bowls of chicken soup, and a spaghetti from the kids menu. It included two adult beverages and three sodas for the kids. I don’t mind paying for a meal if it’s worth it, but this was not. Would not return.

So good to be back in Chicago but did not have the energy to venture out so it was hotel bar food, again. I had stayed at the Hyatt here on Wacker several years ago and remember the quiet, cool little pub tucked away on the other side of the breeze way from the main lobby. On that occasion, it was trade show week and I don’t think I ate nearly as much as drank. Tonight, food was the first priority. Based on the bar tenders recommendation it was either the fish and chips, fresh walleye from lake superior, or the burger. The lady sitting next to me was having the fish & chips and did vouch for it, but beef always trumps fish. I was not lead astray, the plate came out loaded with an generous portion of steak fries and the burger. I had opted for the blue out of four choices of cheese and again followed the bar keeps lead with grilled onions rather than fresh or fried due to the cheese selection. Bingo. The beef was perfectly prepared, medium, and come to find out scored locally from a farm in Wisconsin. The bun was thick, fresh and fluffy enough to sop up the juice without getting soggy. The steak fries were crisp and lightly seasoned. So, I can’t remember when I enjoyed a burger more. Sweet Home Chicago.

UM, It really was BAD I was told there was a new menu. Burgers, Shepard’s Pie, Corned Beef Sandwich. What was the old menu? It’s an Irish pub, what else would they have. The drinks were expensive for what they were and nothing to to get excited over. Tracy who was tending bar was the only positive for the bar portion of Daddy O’s. Burger was overcooked(ordered medium), fries were soggy and bland. They did have Coleman’s mustard, which I love, but even that could not make my sandwich interesting or even edible. If i want to overpay for drinks Ill head to Big Bar, at least the ambiance over there and huge drinks make it a better spot at the Hyatt.

Within the Hyatt Regency there is an Irish Pub… It was St. Patrick’s Day and we were staying at the hotel for the night. Of course we went to Daddy O’s for some food and beer. They had 2 good specials that day: the corned beef and a loaded mash potato dish. Both were very delicious and affordable. Drinks were affordable as well and service was great.

After a long day of traveling and arriving into less then desirable weather in Chicago, my friends and I decided to pop into Daddy O’s pub. This was convienent as the pub is located within the Hyatt Regency were we stayed. The waitress was friendly asking us about our reason for being in town and provided us suggestions on things to do since weather was not in our favor. I find resturants associated with hotels are generally bland of flavor and prices to be outrageous, the opposite was true of Daddy O’s. I had a bowl of Minestrone soup that came with bread and it was more than flavorful, all for $ 3. Come to find out, the soup is made fresh each day. The music isn’t overly loud and is Top 40/Hot AC in nature. My only complaint is that it was just a tad bit creepy being the only few people sitting in there.

Was craving comfort food and noticed there were thunderstorms going on outside the hotel… so wandered down and decided to give their Wisconsin mac & cheese a try. After I got done w/the browned top, the bottom half was rather bland and I told the waitress so. She comp’ed me a peach cobbler, which was delicious :-) Service gets 5 stars the food gets 3

The smell of Irish Whiskey and spicy nachos was intoxicating. It was a much better choice compared to room service. I tried the Bison Burger but I probably wouldn’t eat it again. I went back 2 nights later and shared the nachos with a colleague. Much better! They have the local beer cane and Ebel by Two Brothers Brewing Company on tap. The best local beer I had yet(not counting the bottle of Founders KBS we shared).

Come on… it’s a hotel bar. Having said that, though, it’s pretty cool. They have all of the great drinks and who doesn’t like live music? Request some of your favorite songs and sing along if you like… it might liven up the place.(In my opinion, every place could use a livening up! Why not?) Go especially to be entertained by the gorgeous, voluptuous waitress AJA!!! She, alone, will keep you enthralled in your experience at Daddy O’s. :)
