Authentic Cuban food at really good prices. One of the best Cuban restaraunt in the city.

Yesssss!!! Just found my new Cuban spot. Absolutely amazing and I ordered delivery. Ropa vieja was incredibly moist, tender, and tasty. The jibarito with pork was also great; I may try the beef next time. The Cuban sampler with yucca frita and empanada are just like my mom makes. And finally the chicken noodle soup is perfect for an upset stomach when your sick. Platanos and rice were spot on.

I really want to give them 5 stars but I deducted 2 stars for the poor ventilation and slow service. The food is amazing but waiting an hour for pork chop will make you think twice if you want to go back & wait one hour for your food. I would probably call ahead of time to order food before being seated. Overall, the food is delicious!

The food is great, but I always second guess whether or not I want to get food from here because they’re EXTREMELYSLOW. Take out takes just as long. I’ve been here several times and I have yet to understand why it takes them so long to bring you your food. Granted, there’s only ever one waiter/waitress, but the times that I’ve been here the place has been pretty empty, so why it takes a good hour to be served remains a mystery. If D’cuba didn’t have such a ridiculous wait time, I wouldn’t think twice about giving them 5 stars. The food is that good. Bottom line: if you’re in search of awesome authentic Cuban cuisine, this is the place to go. However, if a quick bite is what you need, look elsewhere. Ps. They no longer serve alcohol, but it is BYOB. $ 5 cork fee.

If I could give them NO stars, I would. I call before and they tell me that they don’t take reservations but tables are available for a party of 5. I show up no tables are available they say it’s a 30 min wait. While waiting they seat a party of 15 that was waiting. After about 15 minutes of waiting they tell me that there is a party of 8 waiting before me, but they left and will be back later. Oh no! How unprofessional can they get! They should have told me when I first came in that there was a party of 15& a party of 8 waiting before me, not after waiting 15 minutes! I will NEVER go back! I’m in the industry so I’m normally very understanding and patient, but they were just wrong!

Use to be our go to place for MANY family celebrations. No more. Service has declined and they no longer serve their amazing mango margaritas only byob.

The food is not worth the wait! Customer service is awful! We arrived at the establishment a little after 12:00 p.m. We informed the waitress we were on our lunch hour and asked if our order could be expedited. There were only two other people in the restaurant when we arrived. We ordered tostones, and two jibarito sandwiches, plus one additional sandwich to go. Not a very complicated order. The couple that was seated when we arrived received their meal shortly after we were seated. So, it stands to reason that no other guests were waiting to be served. It was understood that it was noon, typically a busy time for restaurants. We saw only 1 carry out order picked up during the time we were there, just in case we were thinking that there were a great number of orders for carry out, which would account for the delay in getting our food. If that was the case, we were never informed. It took 57 minutes for our order to arrive and it was missing one sandwich. We then had to quickly ask the server to wrap the order to go. It took an additional 10 minutes for the order to be completed. and the waitress handed me the bag so I could wrap up my own order. There was no apology, no I’m sorry for the delay, not a word. I love the food, but will think twice before ever visiting D’Cuba again, additionally, I will advise others to steer clear as well!

This place is a true gem. The ambiance is fun, clean and beautiful. The food is delicious, fresh and well presented. The prices are very reasonable. I ate the best sandwich I’ve had in a long time, you have to try the Jibarito! If you ever have the opportunity you should go to D’Cuba. Cheers, Jacob

Five stars for the food, authentic & delicious Cuban food that comes with a very decent price. My parents were born and raised and Cuba and hail this place as the most authentic Cuban spot they’ve found in Chicago. The service, in our experience, has been attentive and friendly. However, the location is pretty lackluster and, thus, the place is also usually pretty dead. In another location this place may fare better, but it’s also a great hidden gem within the otherwise barren neighborhood.

I ordered the breaded chicken,($ 13)it came with a decent size of rice, small cup of beans and 3 pieces of maduros. The chicken was huge, I probably ate ¼. I probably would’ve ate more if it wasn’t lacking seasoning. The crust on it was different than what I’m used to as well. The rice was ok, same with maduros, I’ve had better. The beans were delicious though! I also ordered the yuca frita $ 4 and a banana shake $ 3.50. The yuca was ehh, like eating cardboard. The shake was pretty good. The place has a mix of good and not so good, I ordered from grub hub and ended up spending $ 29 for delivery bc it had a minimum order limit of $ 20. I feel like I paid too much for food that wasn’t that great. Bummer

They have redeemed themselves so I must be fair and update my review. Today, for lunch they did not have the lunch special ready, so I requested ropa vieja for the same price and the manager granted it. Now, that’s great customer service on behalf of the server and manager. Mojitos are always delicious accompanied by one of the best empanadas I’ve ever had… Emapanadas de cangrejo(crab…REAL crab). Love it with their homemade hot sauce/salsa and warm garlic bread. This place beats 90 Miles any day. I’ll get to that review another day! Buen provecho!

Ok… I said I’d follow up with a review…5 stars! I love this place! We had the rope vieja and the lechon. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The drinks were spot on and very reasonable. We had no issues with the service despite it being a somewhat busy night. I ate at many cuban restaurants down in Florida and this tops most. Highly recommend.

Solid cuban restaurant. Good empanadas… crab one delicious. Black beans were fantastic and ropa Vieja was tremendous. Picadillo was like moms. great homemade flavor. Service Better at Paladar otherwise would have been a five.

The service was pretty decent. We went in the middle of Saturday, it wasn’t crowded, the waitress was pleasant. The food took some time, but I figured it was made to order. The food was fresh, tasty, authentic and just delicious. My 5yr old loved his meal all the same, we are Caribbean so he is use to eating rice, beans, etc. They don’t have a children’s menu. I definitely will be back to try something else.

Classic Cuban fare. Simple family-run atmosphere. Terribly slow service. We waited an hour after ordering for our entrees to be served, but everything was fresh and clearly made to order. Mojitos are meh. Tasted like Sprite.

What can I say about D Cuba? I read the review here on Unilocal and noticed one of my friends Carlos had done a review on this restaurant. I wanted a nice Latin restaurant to take my mom on mothers day. The places in Humboldt park are good, but the atmosphere around the places were not the best. So I took a chance and took my wife and mom to D Cuba. Absolutely Amazing! It was the perfect mothers day dinner I could’ve asked for. The waiters greeted us with top notch professionalism. The ambiance was just what I wanted for mom. Latin feel, nice Latin music. We ordered our food from the great choices on the menu and when they arrived they were absolutely delicious. I had the Lechon Asado and it was juicy and tasty. Mom went with the Jibarito and loved it. My wife had a steak and loved it!!! The waiters were courteous and attentive. They kind of left us for a while towards the end, but that’s because a slew of people arrived after us and they were busy. Highly recommend this place

I came here because I bought a Travelzoo voucher. I will not be coming back. We drove up to the place and it looked like a hole in the wall and it had only 2 occupied tables on a Saturday night. We were even hesitant to walk in! We had a new waitress that was very very attentive, and helped us make our choices… We ordered 2 homemade sangrias, D’ Cuba combination(2 personas incluye 2 croquetas de jamon o pollo. 1 empanada(no cangrejo) 1 papa rellena, 4 tostones y yuca frita), El Típico(Grilled pork, Black Cuban rice and yuca w/mojo), Ropa vieja /Old Clothes(Shredded beef in tomato sauce with onion, green and red peppers, Flan de vanilla(vanilla custard) Sangrias: filled with fresh fruit and was actually very good D’Cuba combination appetizer: the sausage looking thing was okay, dry and eh. The tostones were pretty good, but still pretty darn dry. The potato ball thing was actually pretty good! The puff thing we didn’t even try. It just didn’t look appetizing. El Tipico: the pork pieces were half fat and half meat… I had to cut off a loooot of my meat, it was soooo much fat! Wtf? The rice wasn’t bad, the meat in it was a bit overdone. The yaca w/mojo was pretty disgusting. mooshy, flavorless, just ick. Ropa vieja: the translation of the name of the dish for sure describes the taste of this whole dish! Old clothes! The meat was not chewable, my bf felt like a cow endlessly chewing the first piece of meat he tried! He gave me a small piece to try and I was chewing for a long time! The rice was very very dry. The whole dish was not edible so pretty much the whole dish was not touched. Wait no. He ate the grilled peppers! Flan de vanilla: after a couple of tries neither the bf nor I wanted to touch it, sweet, but slimy(I know it usually is but it was not edible slimy). Just not good. The servers were very friendly, but that didn’t help the bad food. If you see a travelzoo, groupon, etc, offer for this place, pass it up, you are better off spending your money elsewhere!

Good food, mojitos and prices. Better than La Guardia, Café Con Leche, and Las Tablas(which is horrible in every aspects).

Came here with a travelzoo special. $ 29 for an appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and 2 mojitos. Appetizer: shrimp ceviche w/fried plaintains — a smart idea serving it with fried plaintains, but there wasn’t enough for the big bowl of ceviche. The ceviche was extremely sour and that’s all I tasted. Entrée 1: me, pallomilla encebollada(steak and grilled onions) — love that it came with a lot of grilled onions, however, the steak was a bit rough, has decent flavor though. Entrée 2: bf, carne asada(grilled skirt steak) — hmmmMmmmm this was cooked to perfection. Medium rare at its finest! Very flavorful, but it would be nice if the onions were also grilled instead of raw.(Definitely will ask for grill onions next time!) Dessert 1: tres leche cake — super sweet Dessert 2: coco flan — this is very good, more on the dense side Mojitos: they were wayyyy too minty. I understand that’s what mojitos are made of, but when you are choking on the mint than there definitely is too much! We didn’t want to throw it out so we chugged it. Eckkk it didn’t taste good with our food. Overall, a decent place, but if I came here without a special coupon I wouldn’t order certain things.
