This gallery just opened up in my ‘hood, and I couldn’t be happier about it. I have it on good information that the alderperson in this area is ecstatic as well. Who wouldn’t be? Adjacent and connected to Wall-To-Wall Framing, a longtime successful Edgewater Beach business, DAG is the cool new kid in the neighborhood! It’s the first business of this type in EB and it really filled a void. People love galleries! The grand opening gala was last night, and it was fantastic. The spare gallery — white walls, well-displayed art — was packed with people of all ages, stripes and backgrounds. That’s how we roll in Edgewater Beach — everyone is welcome — grab a glass of wine and come chat with me! So, I grabbed a glass of wine and looked around! Kicking off this gallery on the eve of Pride weekend worked, I think — all I saw were smiles and happy people chattering excitedly about the art. The art. A wide variety. For the first show out of the box, it was a mixed bag — but all very interesting stuff. Some really great photography, drawings, mixed media and paintings. I really liked the photographs by Christian Rodriguez. Some were LGBT themed, and some were interesting nature compositions. I could look at a whole show of this guy’s work. I’m super happy it opened, and wish it every success. Very well done. I can’t wait for the next show. Get up here and buy art, everyone!
