Dean will be decorating my sparsely furnished new home as he understood my concerns, quick to provide info and sincerely honest. Sparsely because it is expensive, and by default I hate having too much stuff. Basic necessities is good. Unlike cheap modern stuff(e.g. Ikea that is easily dismissed and blends into background), DWR carries its own weight, prestige and beauty. One chair/furniture in the middle of the floor plan is art and presentation. Furniture(s) is an asset. For example, Carl Hansen & Son brand is Christie’s auction worthy. Like $ 16k for 2 chairs worthy. DWR carries classic furniture that are meant to be given to future generations, NOT thrown on a whim as your design taste changed or you want to be trendy.

A beautiful store with very accommodating salespeople and help. Definitely very expensive, but if you’re looking for statement pieces that will last a lifetime, definitely worth it. I own several pieces and am very happy. I have pieces from one of their outdoor collections«Lucca» and they are modern, beautiful and well made. Even if you don’t buy from here, it’s worth a visit just to get inspired.

Within reach of whom exactly, I’m not sure. You could easily spend $ 20,000 buying a living room set here. And sadly it looks about the same as neighbors West Elm and CB2 for about 10 – 20 times the price. I don’t consider myself stingy when it comes to furnishing my home, I think $ 2,000−3,000 is a fair price to pay for a nice piece that you hope to have for years to come, but $ 15,000 for a sofa is just absurd. In this enconomy that might be a tough business model, but I do wish Design Within Reach much luck.

If you are in the market for beautiful, modern(and yes, high end) furniture, this is the place. I splurged on a couch here– given you buy a couch like once in ever I decided it was a reasonable thing to do– and I am glad I did. Unlike other high end places, I never once felt out of place as a customer, mainly because of the excellent service — and taste!- of Ann and Brian. Brian F. spent a RIDICULOUS amount of time with me helping me pick a couch — he indulged me by looking at fabric samples from another store for matching, made gorgeous suggestions, was patient beyond belief. He even used a picture I sent him of the room I was buying couch for to mock up what it might look like in it(web tools are cool.) He has a lovely eye– understands your style and makes appropriate suggestions.

DWR is one of the nicest places I have ever shopped in terms of furniture and home décor. I have made several purchases from this store over the last year and I can’t say enough good things about it. First and foremost be warned that this store is not cheap or for those looking to shop on a budget. It definately caters to the high end furniture market and the first time I went in I had a bit of sticker shock. However, I will say that the product and service are both very high quality. I worked with Michael Williard on multiple occasions and was extremely helpful, polite and didn’t force me into products that I didn’t want. After dealing with multiple vendors in the home décor space who failed to deliver items on time and/or had poor customer service… working with these guys was a true delight.
