Many thanks to Andrew who helped me today with a down coat. I was exchanging for the 3rd time and somewhat frustrated with the prior coats. Andrew was friendly and patient and seemed as though he had all the time in the world and cared only that I finally would get a coat that works for me. Many thanks.

I ordered two jackets online. One for winter and one for special occasions and I am very happy with both jackets… I did go into the North Avenue store and it’s very nice… parking is validated and customer service was as expected – nothing to write home about, but I was very happy with the return policy and also the quality of Eddie Bauer winter jackets are warm!!!

I’ll say the most important thing first, they validate for the parking lot behind the store. This is a nice store, it’s not huge but it big enough. There’s definitely some stuff on their web site that they don’t carry in the store. The staff is friendly, there’s someone to greet you, and they’re cool about doing returns when you do a huge online order and need to return because of sizing and such. I only recently started looking at Eddie Bauer, and they have nice stuff. I guess I think of it as being for my parents, in style and cost, but that’s not quite right. They seem to have the sporty stuff to match anywhere, and for traditional hiking clothes its among the best, imo. They have a new line of quickdry sneakers. They also have some other nice shoes – nice looking but sporty. And they sell sanuks for the best price I’ve seen anywhere, at least during the EB sale.

Nothing but problems! I ordered a coat online. After 18 months, it developed a rip so I called customer service and asked if it could be repaired. I was told that the coat was in stock and that they would just replace it. Yay! I returned the coat, waited 12 weeks and called again. This time I“m told that the coat is out of stock and that they issued a credit one month ago to my credit card from two years ago! That account no longer even exists! And no one bothered to call me and let me know what was happening?!? Now I’m responsible for calling my old creditor to try to locate the money that Eddie Bauer owes me for the coat. That’s my last order, seriously. Thanks a lot for nothing!

I frequented Eddie Bauer when they first opened in Lincoln Park. I’m not sure what happened, but there is a whole new staff and they are not as genuine or enjoyable as the people that used to be there. It’s not easy to avoid the over bearing, boisterous manager that has smelled like alcohol every time I’ve encountered her, but it is in your best interest, if possible. Maggie is her name I think? She is more concerned with pushing products on you than listening to your concerns and made a point to usurp the conversation I was having with another employee to do so. The environment has definitely changed for the worst within the past few months.

They are one of the few stores left with amazing costumer service. Their generous return policy is something that is practically extinct in the retail world. The sales staff has always made the shopping experience fun and easy. I am happily a frequent customer.

When I saw that the Michigan Ave store was closing down, I was pretty bummed since it was the only one in the city. A few months later, passing by North and Halsted, I saw the exciting new tenant of the old Borders space turned into my favorite store. Eddie Bauer has a great selection of active outdoor apparel, outerwear, shoes, and gear. My favorite part about this store is it’s 100% satisfaction guarantee. They fully stand behind their products and are more than happy to exchange something even if you lose your receipt. Welcome back to Chicago, Eddie Bauer! Glad you moved to the north side.
